The hotel was quiet, in a lovely location. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was superb, so much choice whether continental or cooked. We had dinner twice in the hotel, which was excellent. The bar area opens onto a very pleasant garden with further seating, and the swimming pool is nicely secluded with very comfortable loungers and a separate changing area. Our room was comfortable with an iron and ironing board, and towelling robes and slippers were a nice touch. We had our car but the buses stop right outside the hotel and you can easily get around the island very cheaply by bus. We would definitely recommend La Barberie.

Nothing - all good!

We have stayed at La Barbarie many times, and each time, we have been there, we have had a super time. The staff are very friendly, the rooms lovely, clean, comfortable and roomy with nice little touches like bottled water, local biscuits. The food is exceptional and delicious, served by lovely waiting staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The pool area is beautiful with nice sun loungers around to use in the sun, sadly, the weather was too cold for us to use the pool, but it looked very inviting. I would highly recommend La Barbarie to anyone.

Everything was good, no negatives.

Location lovely. Breakfast excellent. Impressed by being greeted by someone who had been looking at the fact our booked room was somewhat small for a 10 night stay and offered us the option of a larger room for nine of the nights. We took the option. Bus to town stops right outside the hotel.

Menus for evening meals never changed in the 10 nights we stayed. I believe they may change once a month, but it was a contributing factor to us searching out other venues for some of our evening meals. Grapefruit for breakfast would have been a plus for me. Some of the dining tables are quite close to each other.

A very quiet location but within easy reach of the coastal path and bus stop for exploring. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent communication prior to our arrival. Lovely cooked breakfast. We didn’t use the pool as the weather was a little cool but it looked a nice area to relax. The bar had many drink options. I’d say it is an ideal ‘couples’ hotel, although not suited to those who prefer a livelier scene.

We upgraded to a terrace/balcony poolside room. I’d say the price up was pretty steep. Our room was big with a huge bed. However, the terrace is pretty open for all to see so privacy was not great. We were at the top of the main stairs to the block of rooms meaning we felt we were sat greeting other guests for the most part when relaxing on our terrace area. There are plenty of tables in the adjacent garden if you don’t want to pay extra for the terrace.

Exceptional Stay. Regrettably we were given a smaller bed on arrival (a double but we asked through communication with hotel to upgrade) however this was very quickly sorted on arrival and we were given a very lovely room with king-size. Staff were ALL incredibly accommodating and couldn't do enough. Food was excellent. Dinner was so good we cancelled an alternative booking, to eat elsewhere the second night, to eat at hotel again. Just outstanding food. Breakfast was also 5*. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Excellent location for cliff walks. You do need a car as sightseeing would be much harder using public transport. St Martins centre is about 10-15 mins walk. Good car parking

Only a couple of things, could have had better fitting curtains / blinds as the sun streamed into our room 6 and woke us early and there was a low droning white noise coming from the kitchen or other people’s air con units outside, but ear plugs helped and it didn’t keep us awake

A lovely lovely hotel. The facilities are immaculate and the staff are well trained, smiley and couldn’t do enough. We had a flying ant issue day 1 which wasn’t an issue for the hotel (out of their control) but they dealt with it immediately and we were upgraded to what I believe was one of the best rooms in the hotel. The breakfast is lovely. The food outstanding. We ate breakfast lunch afternoon tea and dinner. All were fabulous. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend

The hotel is tasteful, our room was large. The swimming pool was lovely. And the other guests were nice people

The welcome by Jennylyn was exceptional. She was so pleasant and helpful as this was last minute booking due to the cancelled flight. The cleanliness of the place and attention to the details was 1st class. I was given a room No 22 that was away from the restaurants, no noise. I was even offered to get me a breakfast to take away which was really nice touch as I was leaving at 5:20 am. Not lots of pleases would do that. Jennylyn organised a taxi for me for next day and really made this unplanned, extended journey at Guernsey as easy as possible. The grounds of the hotel are so beautiful with all the flowers and plants and I felt I was transported to some other happy place, lost in nature. If I come back to Guernsey in future(it will need to be a ferry journey or hopefully the island gets new decent air company that is reliable), this would be the place where I would stay. Huge thank you to Jennylyn who is a huge asset to the hotel and so many other hotel could learn from her.

Absolutely perfect.

The lady at Reception was so helpful and friendly, giving very useful advice on us exploring the area. Her very accurate description of the route to the coast from the hotel was spot-on! She knew who we were before we gave our names - her attention to guests was an exemplar others could learn from (other hotels, not La Barbarie!) The restaurant personnel were very helpful with checking my daughter's long list of allergies and understanding of her travel-sickness, making sensible recommendations for settling her stomach. We were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble, all questions were answered comprehensively and we felt in safe hands.

The duvet felt rather stiff and not too 'snuggly'. English breakfast was good, although, as a vegetarian, wasn't too impressed with the bacon being served alongside the mushrooms/beans(?), with possible 'contamination' of serving implements.

Fabulous hotel! We had a wonderful stay - from the welcome on arrival and throughout our week’s stay, all of the staff were so thoughtful, attentive and friendly. The food is excellent, the hotel decor very tasteful and chic, our room very spacious and immaculate. I thoroughly recommend La Barbarie to anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday in a gorgeous rural setting.
