The location is great for people who are going to explore the town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable.
It was very warm in the room and hard to have the window open since staff was smoking right below the window and the room started to smell like cigarettes. However after calling the lobby it stopped and it was a very nice lady who answered the phone. It get really loud outside with people partying during the weekend until 3-4 am. If it would’ve been possible to sleep with window closed, there would’ve been no problem.

There were a couple of technical issues identified in my room after my first night staying at the Centrum, which were quickly, helpfully and generously sorted out for me for the remaining two nights by moving me to a better room. Friendly service from the staff. Very good breakfast with lots of variety. Very welcoming and comfortable bar area, with meals available. Very good location in the centre of Akureyri, close to shops, bars, eateries etc. A five minute walk from the Hof concert hall (which was also where the stop for the airport bus is located), and in the other direction to the very distinctive mid-20th century church. About twenty minutes' walk to the Gleraraug shopping mall. And don't forget to take the opportunity to go whale-watching on the fjord and obviously make the most of any opportunity to see the Northern Lights.
The room was described in the Booking.com listing as having a city view. However, the two rooms that I stayed in were at the rear of the hotel and overlooked a courtyard surrounded by what appeared to be views of apartment blocks. This may be confusion between the hotel and Booking.com as to what types of room are being available; if so, the discrepancy needs to be corrected. It didn't seem right to make an issue of this at the time, having already been moved to a new room! The area was a bit noisy on the Saturday night/early hours of Sunday from some people walking through the city centre after a night out, but this had already been identified in reviews on other hotels in the area that were featured on Booking.com and was therefore not a surprise.

Great location, decent price.
The room was small and the furniture old. There was only one night stand and bed side lamp and sockets only on that side of the bed. On the other side was a small cooler. The wall behind it was scratched. When we asked for croissants that had run out at breakfast we were told that they didn’t think they would need more, so now we would have to wait half an hour for a new batch. The same applied to the bread.

As the name suggests, it’s very central, a few minutes’ walk from everywhere. Comfortable room, with fridge and a nearby communal kitchen if you want to make drinks and snacks. Great bar and restaurant on ground floor, tasty breakfast. Lovely staff. An excellent good value choice.
There was a little nighttime noise from the bar restaurant below but it wasn’t too intrusive. My room needed some TLC to repair scuff marks etc. More lamps would have been appreciated, especially during the dark months as the main lights were very bright. Minor points but worth mentioning

Despite some oddities about the place, the Centrum was a nice place to stay. My room was very generous in size, with a good-sized bathroom, and everything was spotless. The elevator to the rooms is at the back of the bar and restaurant, and it’s a bit strange to wheel your suitcase past tables of people eating and drinking in order to get to your room. But it’s not such a big deal. The email I got a couple of days before arrival had some errors, and it might be helpful for people to have the correct information: 1. The email said you could park in front of the hotel if there was space available. But note that on some days the city closes off the street in front of the hotel, Hafnarsttæti, entirely and makes it for pedestrians only. Google Maps will direct you down Hafnarstræti, but you’ll find when you get there that it’s blocked off. If that’s the case, take the parallel street that’s toward the harbor, Skipagata, instead, and walk to the hotel. There’s parking on Skipagata including a large parking lot, and it’s only a 3-minute walk to the hotel. 2. The email also said you check in with someone at the bar, but in fact the keys were being held at the Apotek Guesthouse next door. I got my key there, then went back to the Centrum and walked with my suitcase through the bar/restaurant.

It’s in the central location of Akureyri and very close to the whale watching ferry port. Though not mentioned in the facility list, the room does have a kitchen with all utensils needed. The room also has a terrace.
The sofa bed was for single person which is a little unexpected. Luckily our little child can still sleep with us.

This hotel is located in central Akureyri so we were able to park our rental car and walk everywhere, which I like. There is a bar/restaurant on street level and, for the most part, we heard none of it beyond murmured conversation. We stayed for 2 nights so that we could drive to Husavik for whale watching. Being only an hour away it was convenient. There are a ton of different restaurants to check out in this city so I would recommend walking the streets. Also, free washer/dryer on the 2nd floor - just bring detergent.
No TV, 4 channels of Icelandic radio, I think. I like to watch local news when I travel to get a sense of the city/country I am visiting as well as to see how the US is portrayed in their news media. I wasn't able to do this here.

An alright room above a decent bar with friendly staff that does nice food. They have a small separate kitchen area off the landing for tea/coffee plus microwave etc to allow a slightly broader range of self-catering food options than most hotels.
The beat of the music from the downstairs bar could be easily heard, it didn't stop us sleeping though.

Great location in town which made it easy to walk around and see the sights. Rooms were clean..I requested our rooms be next to each other and they accommodated our request. A nice, quaint place to stay!
It seems to be more of a thing I've seen in Iceland compared to Centrum Hotel, but there was not hair conditioner or lotion available in our room. The shower a tad small, but the water pressure was great!

By chance, we were assigned to a big room at check-in, which was very convenient. The room was bright, with modern furniture and clean. Since this is a hotel located in the city center, do not expect great views.
For the size of the room, there could have been more opportunities to hang clothes. It was not clear to me if breakfast is available till arrival, luckily the restaurant/bar on the ground floor offers a decent breakfast for a typical price (2900 ISK per person in 09/2023). I would have preferred this as an option when booking.
