We could not fault Hotel Akureyri on anything, the room was immaculately clean, the bed was comfy, the view was fantastic. Everything was just so well thought out. The breakfast went beyond our expectations, so much to choose from and the staff worked tirelessly to keep everything restocked, so even if you come down for breakfast late, you still get exactly the same as you would if you got up at 6. The communal areas are well designed, the bar is lovely and had a large selection of drinks The location of the hotel is perfect, lovely views of the sea, it is the first stop on the airport bus route so you're there in about 5 minutes. Very short walk into town and has lovely walks around it up to the botanical gardens or along the sea front. We would very much recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Akureyri and can not wait to come back!

Maybe a little more storage for in the rooms for clothes

Absolutely exceptional place. The staffs were amazingly friendly, the breakfast great selection, and the room was so elegantly designed. To some, the room may be on the smaller side, but really, if you're doing a short stay, its really more than enough. Just take a moment to enjoy and notice all the small details that this family had spent time and effort putting into every little thing they present (the toilet paper, the glazed cups, the umbrella!....so many little charming details).

Location of the property is ideal for the quaint Rooms are renovated and super clean. Beds are cosy and comfortable with whitest, Softest and smoothest bed linen!! Staff are very polite and courteous. Daniel was exceptional he is very hospitable and kind. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Akureyri.

The location is perfect and right in the city centre, but still away from traffic. The staff is very friendly and everything is clean and neat. I also enjoyed sitting in the lobby and look into all the great books available there to read. Some great pictures everywhere, photographs and paintings, giving the hotel a special charm. The billiard table in the bar and lobby area was enjoyable too. :)

I stayed in one of the smallest hotel-rooms, and there is very little space to move around or put down your luggage. I would have appreciated that instead of an almost empty minibar (there is a bar in the lobby for thirsty guests) there would rather have been a luggage-rack for my bag, because there really was nowhere to put it and open it except on the bed or the shower !!!

Great hotel; modern but with a Nordic classic style. Great location. Amazing lobby and bar areas, probably some of the best I encountered traveling across Iceland. Super friendly staff. Hotel seems fully renewed and everything was super functional. Free parking right in front and walking distance from all attractions and restaurants. Extremely clean and well kept rooms. Great breakfast included.

Room was a little smaller than expected; but not different from your typical experience in the Nordics.

Our first nights stay, lovely view over the fjord, quiet end of town. Very friendly check in and bar staff. Excellent quality breakfast with very good meats, cheese, plenty of choice of fruit, nuts etc to have with Yoghurt. GF bread available. Plenty of places for an evening meal nearby. Do visit the museum down the road, towards the airport and Nonni's house and toy museum. Head towards the airport and they are on the parallel road, further from fjord. Easy to get to Forest Lagoon and to the whale watching vessel. Husavik is worth a visit and the petting farm. North restaurant uses the same room as breakfast room. We had an amazing meal there later in the week, you must book.

The decor is very nice - the reception/bar/lounge area is very attractive and a comfortable area to sit in. Plenty of parking and easy to find and only a few minute's walk into the town centre. The room was large and attractive with beds that were good. The buffet breakfast (cold) was ample - although space is tight when many people queue at the same time but there're two areas to eat in, one being the lovely lounge/reception area. One of the nicest hotels we stayed at in Iceland.

A few hooks/rail on the wall in the bathroom would help with wet towels.

The Akureyri Art Museum offered a diverse collection of contemporary works, providing insight into Icelandic artistry. A leisurely stroll through the Akureyri Botanical Garden was a highlight; the well-maintained grounds showcased a variety of native and exotic plants. The on-site café within the botanical garden provided a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee amidst the greenery. A short drive to the nearby village of Húsavík afforded us the opportunity to embark on a whale-watching tour, a truly unforgettable experience. The sight of majestic whales in their natural habitat was awe-inspiring. Following the excursion, we dined at a local café near the whale-watching office, indulging in what we considered the best fish and chips of our trip. The freshness of the fish and the crispness of the batter were exceptional, making it a culinary highlight. Hotel Akureyri offers a comfortable and well-located option for travelers seeking to explore the city. The prime location, and quality amenities make it a commendable choice for a stay in Akureyri.

While the accessible room featured a spacious bathroom, the layout presented challenges: the bed was positioned against the wall, making access difficult from one side, and certain amenities like nightstands and light switches were not easily reachable. Additionally, the on-site laundry facilities were out of order during our stay, with no clear timeline for repair, requiring us to use the laundry services at a nearby hostel, which, while functional, was less convenient.

Everything but breakfast. We where in a suite. The rooms where fabulous.

Breakfast room was rediculous. There was seating for 14 and they had a hotel full of guests including a bus full of Asian tourists People where eating standing, we fellt ashamed we had a seat. They ran out of everything, spoons, joghurt, knifes, plates absolutely everything. The two people in the breakfast room kept running to the kitchen, they where really trying to keep up and worked hard but they kept running out of everything. Never seen anything like this. When they sort this out it will be an absolute fabulous hotel.
