Family guesthouse with separate rooms with private bathroom. The rooms are clean. You can use the shared kitchen and dining room. The apartment is in the south-west of Iceland and there are many possibilities to travel from there. (Geysir, Vestmannaeyjar Island, Kerid crater, etc). It is definitely important to emphasize the atmosphere, the owners are very friendly and communicative, and also the concept, where everyone meets for breakfast at a round table in the morning (waffles are served from 8 o'clock) and together they talk about where they are from and what they have planned. The owner adds a lot of interesting information about Iceland and local culture, so you can find out what it's like to grow bananas in Iceland, details, how Icelandic surnames are formed and much more. This certainly distinguishes the accommodation from the others.

Trying to figure out where the best place to stay when you visit the Golden Circle? THIS IS THE PLACE TO MAKE YOUR HOMEBASE. I've been all over Iceland and came back again to see even more of its hidden gems. I stayed at Loa's Nest the entire week and it was the perfect access point for the Golden circle and all day trips in the South. It's like combining the comfort of a nice hotel with the convenience of a home rental. Everything is exceptional and sparkling clean. High quality beds, sheets, towels, and furnishings made our stay feel special. Unnur, Ingi and family were amazing and really made our stay perfect - fantastic coffee, fresh waffles (note: fruit not included but just run to the nearby grocery and buy what you need - so easy), and tremendous support when we needed help. Unnur makes sure you feel like you have a family in Iceland without being too "up in your business" nor too "distant". I will be back and use Loa's Nest as my home base for future trips.

This is a true gem of a property ! We were 2 couples there for 3 nights. We used it as a base to explore the south - spending one day on a day trip/ hike with Midgard adventures and the other touring around Vik . The property was wonderful - spotlessly clean, large rooms with immaculate linen, best showers in Iceland and also the best hosts ! We could not have felt more welcome. Not only were the complimentary breakfast waffles and coffee divine but we also received lots of helpful advice about our ring road trip etc And the horses …….. so special This is THE place to stay

We had such a fantastic experience staying here! The location was perfect, with a beautiful view that made our mornings and evenings extra special. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The bed was super comfy, and the shower had great water pressure—perfect after a long day of exploring. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast—the waffles and milk were absolutely amazing and such a thoughtful touch! Our host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would definitely come back again!

We arrived quite late, about 22:30, and everything was ready and waiting for us, even though no staff were present when we arrived. Our room was very comfortable and well-appointed, with an excellent private washroom and very good wifi. The shared kitchen and lounge were also very clean and comfortable, and the complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch. We also very much appreciated the hosts offering complementary waffles in the morning; this was unexpected and very much appreciated. In this regard, the host's rhubarb jam was especially tasty!

I have nothing to say in terms of negatives as everything was top notch. While the price was high - as is the case with any accommodation in Iceland - the room and facilities were such that I felt nonetheless that we got good value. I would certainly stay here again!

The location was perfect for us, a place to rest and relax as we drove from west to east on the south coast. Checking in was easy and clearly explained prior to arrival. It was a great sized room with plenty of space for our stuff, a good bathroom, and a comfortable bed. It was so great to have access to the kitchen to store our perishable food overnight. They also had lots of nice tea and coffee options and space to prepare meals. The staff were very friendly and kind and the host made a great breakfast! They had board games in the main room so we could relax and play a game at one of the big tables. Overall, really perfect place that had everything we needed!

Nice peaceful location, clean, cherry and bright decor, friendly staff, good waffle breakfast, shared fridge and kitchen area for guests to use. The room had adequate space for all our luggage and still didn’t feel crowded. It had a quaint feel to it.

We did have to wait to take a shower bc there was no hot water for awhile. FYI…there are not blow dryers or shampoos in each room, but there are shared blow dryers and shampoo/conditioner in the lobby to take to your room. There is not a TV, but we didn’t miss it. Like other European hotels, they do not provide washcloths.

The owners were very friendly and had lots of tips for what to do in the area. The shared kitchen was extremely well-equipped, and all the basics were provided (salt, pepper, oil, spices etc). The owners also make waffles every morning for those who want them and provide tea and coffee. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a good shower and nice big windows, just in case you're lucky enough to have aurora borealis during your stay. It was the nicest place that we stayed during our trip & also the least expensive, I would have happily stayed for longer, especially as there were plenty of nice walks and things to visit in the area. I really appreciated the fact that everything was provided, and it felt as though the owners had thought of everything.

I would have appreciated having a kettle in the room, but it wasn't really a problem, and having my morning tea in the dining area was probably a bit more sociable!

Loa's Nest was one of our favorite stays in Iceland. The room was warm, clean, and very cozy—perfect after a long day of driving. The host and hostess were incredibly kind and welcoming. At breakfast, we had a lovely chat and were served delicious waffles with a variety of toppings. Even after we had already eaten one, the host brought us another, and then another—making sure we were truly full and satisfied! It’s a charming family-run business, and that personal touch really made a difference. We genuinely appreciated the hospitality and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely, clean and superbly organized guesthouse. The best hosts you can imagine. So kind and friendly, always giving us the best advice on where to go and what to do. Our 10 year old loved staying here too. If Loas Nest is available on your dates, dont hesitate, just go ahead and book it. We would go back in a heartbeat and we hope to see Unnar and his wife again either in Iceland or in Norway.
