My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Riverfront Lodge in Hella. We were both competing in a bike race 10 mins drive away (as were quite a few of the guests) and it was the perfect place to get ready for the race and relax afterwards. The hosts were incredibly friendly and informative - we had an interesting conversation about Icelandic culture over our last breakfast but at no point did we feel they were overbearing. They were very accommodating about our bikes, letting us use the decking to assemble them and break them down for the bike boxes and offering us use of the hose to clean them if needed. Breakfast was varied and a great start to the day. We bought food from a local supermarket and the shared kitchen was well stocked with every cooking utensil and seasoning etc that we needed to make dinner. The location is simply stunning - backing onto a river with scenic views in the background. The room was cozy (we pushed our twin beds together) and the water pressure in the shower was good. For anyone looking for a relaxing place to use as a base to explore the local area - the Highlands a short drive away are beautiful - this is it.

The room was cosy and warm with a fantastic view of the river. The bed was comfortable and there was a small kitchenette with limited facilities, however we were able to use the shared kitchen to cook our meal, which was very useful. We were also delighted that they accommodated our request for an earlier breakfast due to an early ferry. Breakfast had some varied options, and good coffee and we were very happy to have been able to eat before we left. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our short stay.

There is still some building work going on around the site, however no disturbances, just a little unsightly. The room itself was a bit tricky to find as it faced the river, so not obvious from the carpark, however we fortunately were guided to our room by the owner.

Breakfast was good with friendly staff. The river view was nice. Short drive into town. Many highland tours offer free pickup in Hella making it a convenient home base.

There are some minor maintenance issues and small touches that would go a long way if addressed. Flush button for the toilet was misaligned with the tank and stuck on the lid. Window latch was messed up. Door lock was non-intuitive but at least they provided an explanation for it. Would have preferred a conventional locking method. It would be nice to have a shelf or caddy in the shower for holding your toiletries. That could be as simple as a suction cup mounted one. Toilet paper roll holder was mounted directly above the heater which seemed like a potential fire hazard.

Clean linen and room, sufficient furniture and room equipment. They even provided a coffee machine with two coffee capsules and tea bags. Sufficient available parking. Nice and comfortable beds and pillows. Easy self-service check in and check out with prompt and clear instructions.

Mirror in the toilet was not in front of the sink but on the wall at the back of the sink, which is an awkward position. Just a minor gripe though, no major inconvenience.

The wooden lodges on the river side were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast room, although small (they are building a new, bigger room) was fine and the friendly company of the owners more than made up for its size. Breakfast was simple but good - yoghurt, fruit, cereal, eggs and toast, tea, coffee, orange juice. The owners also have a wonderful self contained wooden lodge next door which would be perfect for families.

Everything was good the only thing which potentially could be an issue is the rooms are not very sound proof so if you are unlucky enough to have noisy neighbours it could be a pain.

Loved the breakfast and the staff, they were very kind when we came by on the wrong day to help us figure it out. The location is very peaceful. We saw a farmer moving their herd of horses to the pasture for summer, 50 horses running outside on the street, very cool!

The walls weren’t very sound proof, we could hear our neighbors up late talking. Some parts of the location are also still under construction, which wasn’t a big deal for us but less parking and there were pallets set up with construction trucks outside our room.

On the river with lots of birds singing, innkeeper was friendly and humorous, older property with some rustic charm, decent continental plus breakfast, comfortable bed

A bit uncomfortable eating breakfast when seated right next to host working on his laptop and on the phone. Like much of Europe tight quarters in room when trying to lay out luggage.

Loved everything about this place !!! The owner was very nice and provided info of the area .. Breakfast was filling for a morning starter. The beds were super comfy and the rooms perfect for my daughter and I. I have recommended this place to friends that will be traveling in the near future.

Black out shades but to the sun not setting but that was early over come with hanging a blanket. Also the hot water runs out fast if you don’t catch it at the right time.

The breakfast was excellent. We met many nice Icelanders, but the woman who served breakfast was especially gracious and friendly. Of all of our experiences with local people on hotel staffs, we will remember her. Her warmth made our stay memorable. Also, the price was the best value we found.

The room faced west and lacked blackout curtains. It was difficult to cut out enough light for sleeping, with local sunset at 11:22 pm and sunrise at 3:30 am.

The rooms had been nicely laid out and the beds were super comfortable. We used the shared kitchen area which was really good and had everything you needed.

Our room felt like they had started doing it up and not finished it. The wardrobes had no hanging poles or shelves. This didn’t matter to us as only there one night. The room was lovely just odd with the wardrobes
