A really exceptional place to stay, staff couldn't be more helpful and kind. You're encouraged to treat Midgard as home when you are there and it feels that way. Extremely clean and the rooms were so quiet too which I really appreciated, I'd wondered if that would be possible in a more hostel based set up. The design is gorgeous and it just feels like all the details are thought through so carefully. My kids loved the swings and the games, I loved the free coffee!
Nothing. As an ideal a wakeup call for northern lights, but you have access to a webcam you can check live which is brilliant and staff aren't onsite overnight so a call wouldn't really work.

A great place to stay. After a poor experience at our last hotel, Midgard was exactly what we were looking for. The room was clean, bright and comfy. The staff were really helpful. We had a meal in the restaurant which was really tasty and reasonably priced (for Iceland!). We didn't use the sauna or hot tub, but they had a drying cabinet which we used. They also have a guest kitchen which they don't advertise online because they say its only small, but it was really useful- fridges, kettles and a couple of microwaves. We also had breakfast which had a range of cold options and tasty bread, though no hot options if that is what you are looking for. Overall, a lovely stay.
Some hot options at breakfast would have been great, but otherwise we had a great stay- thank you!

Great price for the region. Clean place. Cool lobby & restaurant/bar. Super friendly & helpful staff. We felt like regulars. Handy guest kitchen for private breakfast, lunch, dinner equipped with kettle, microvawes, fridge, kitchen utensils... Sauna and jakuzzi on roof are priceless. Room for 4 and shared toilets, showers are like a youth yostel, but enough after busy days. We slept well. Absolutely recommended, even for some days. Small supermarket in walking distance. The village itself is tiny. Better bring a car. We used the stay on our way back from Diamond and Black beach.
The bar closes at 10, the restaurant takes last orders around 9 and the jakuzzi closes at 10 pm. Bar should be open until 11. We checked in late around 9pm and I wanted to eat, enjoy the jakuzzi and have a drink or two. Skipped dinner and took a beer to the rooftop. 😉 A guest group from Asia abused the kettle and boiled their eggs inside. They occupied the family table practically the whole time. But that is not Midgards Base Camp's fault. Just ignorant travellers.

Amazing staff and very cool hangout areas. Great stopping point if you're headed to glaciers. Check in ended at 9:30 PM but we ran into heavy fog and rain on way there from KEF airport. I called desk and the delightful young man waited until we arrived at 10:15 PM. But the icing on the cake was the lady who opened up for breakfast. We arrived in the lobby to check out right as she was walking in (just before 7). She checked us out AND brewed to go coffee for us to take on the road. And she did it all with a smile on her face and so nice even though I'm sure we were delaying her work to get breakfast ready. Thoughtful and friendly staff make all the difference!!
We didn't stay long enough to try the restaurant or enjoy the hangout areas but tgey looked amazing.

Loved the place! Midgard has a cosy and very welcoming athmosphere - I was afraid it would just be suitable for Hikers and Touring Guest, but it works the same great for families (or anyone else). The staff is lovely, helpful and caring (Thank you Gina!). Our room had 2 windowsides and on both sides where we could see Iceland Horses. The room has a good size (enough space), a nice & modern bathroom. We decided to stay another night due to unforseen storms and it was easy and comfortable to have Midgard as our basis, almost like a big living room to grab some tea, hang out, play a game. Wifi was strong enough for streaming (no TV in the room, which most likely you never need in Iceland, unless stuck in a storm). We had breakfast on one day: It was sufficient and good, but for the second day we decided to use the Guest Kitchen (which was a surprise) and really helpful when you can have your own stuff travelling with a picky kid.
We had Dinner in the Restaurant which was good, but more Vegetarian (and smaller) Choices for Dinner would have been nice (for Kids & Budget).

Midgard Basecamp was a good hostel-like environment to stay in. The service was great and the lady that showed us around was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was probably too tired to fully enjoy the setting, but we did enjoy the hot tub for awhile. The room was overly warm and we weren't sure we were able to open the windows or not, so we just slept pretty warm. They had great things to dry clothes and your boots!
While they said the hot tub closed down at ten, it was more like midnight by the time things quieted down.

Cool bunk beds with space both under the beds and at the end of your mattress! Staff seemed very friendly. Bathrooms were pretty much okay and clean, kitchen is very tiny (both the cooking and dining area) and does not have gas to cook, only water heater, toaster and microwave. Bonus points: cool chilling area, laundry room and heater for both clothes and shoes!!!! AND HOT TUB AND SAUNA FOR ALL GUESTs! don’t forget to leave a post-it on the wall :)
kitchen both cooking and dining area was very tiny in respect to number of guests hosted

the acIommodation was perfect with a hot tub and sauna to relax after all day travelling and hiking. Best for solo travellers as beds and bathroom are very clean too. The staffs help and guide you with everything you want to know about iceland. They also arrange some tours for you that no one else do like to Thorsmork and interiors of iceland. We also saw the aurora from the hot tub on terrace which makes the experience best. they have a restaurant and bar as well so its a complete package. the bunk beds were equipped with charging point and lights too.
It's just my bunk buddy who was snoring all night.

Everything was great. There was heating, sauna and hot tub, very special at cold days. There was special utilities that can dry your clothes and shoes, it was great. A small kitchen apart. You can serve a tea or coffee for free in the restaurant as a guest. Showers and toilets are common, but are several so you shouldnt stay to wait for a long. Rooms are common too, but your bed is closed with special curtains, so you are not disturbed. We like it even if it was a common room.
That we couldn’t stay more.

Amazing place, with a very welcoming atmosphere. One of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed. The dorm beds had privacy curtains and decent under bed storage. Sauna and hot tub on the roof were great, and the chill out area downstairs was super cool and cosy, even had live music on the night I was there. Staff super helpful. Kitchen area was limited by only having microwaves and no stove, but for a single night and making basic food it was fine. Very clean and well maintained.
Maybe access to a stove would have been good
