The room is very simple, but decent size, especially in comparison to some other guesthouse accommodation in the area. The all-natural hot tub is a big plus, the view from the breakfast room is amazing. Good location if you'd like to explore Landmannalaugar and/or the Golden circle. The scenery around is very beautiful, with plenty of opportunity for taking a walk, but bear in mind that the closest gas station is 30 km away, and the closest restaurant is about 10-min drive. They also have a horse farm and offer horse riding sessions. I went horse riding, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip! My instructor, Sofie, was amazing, very friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. After the ride, she gave me time to cuddle with my horse and feed her some treats, and also showed other horses in the stable and shared interesting info about Icelandic horses.

Breakfast was not too bad, but it would be great to have some hot food options, like scrambled eggs/oatmeal.

The place is very quiet and peaceful, such an expected, with a wonderful view all around. It is a poetic and bucolic venue in front of the volcano. The room is very cosy and comfy, super clean as well and warm. But, the most important is the team on site ! They are lovely people, welcoming, helpful and kind. Fun fact (well, not that fun but still, it will be a good memory) : I had a puncture on my way out and my host and his girlfriend were very nice to me. He fixed it efficiently with a wild (but super clever) workshop in the middle of nowhere. And he saved the day ! I am forever grateful ;-)

Remote location. Scenic. Clean. Comfortable. Relaxing. Easy check-in. We loved it. Perfect for the northern lights tho we didn't experience it. Breakfast included inside a unique building along with mountain views. Breakfast and coffee superb. A kettle used for our 2 minute noodle dinner - no kitchen. Highly recommend.

It isn't a 'didn't like' more a wish if they had we'd use it - somewhere to wash and hang small amount of clothing (travelling light).

Hôtel Leirubakki was along such a beautiful drive from the highlands. We arrived at sunset (23:30) and self checkin was very easy. Our host Orri was extremely accommodating and responded right away! As soon as we arrived, instead of heading to bed after a long day of hiking, we explored the gorgeous grounds. We walked past gentle horses in the pasture, and discovered a “hidden” hot spring down a little path! The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable and we really appreciated the private bathroom in our room. There was also a hot tub right outside on the deck, and a cottage-like gathering space upstairs. Very cozy. This place felt like a little piece of magic. The following morning we ate breakfast from a lovely spread that was provided. Not to mention the view out of the window in the breakfast space. There were other guests, but it felt low trafficked and not crowded. It felt as if we were staying with family on their farm. Other guests got a private guide who spoke German for them who worked at Leirubakki. So cool! I would definitely make this a stop again if I get the opportunity to return to Iceland. Thank you to Orri and the Leirubakki staff! This was our favorite guesthouse/hotel in Iceland 💖

The only thing I would critique is that the wifi only worked in the central space, but honestly that could be a preference to enjoy your time.

We knew beforehand that there wasn't any evening restaurant service, however in such a remote location it would have been helpful.

A simple but magical place! (Snorri Stulurson once owned it!) Plus a top location to reach Landmannalaugar if you‘re not planning to stay in the huts or didn‘t get a spot. The breakfast is simple and no-nonsense. But I loved the pool, jacuzzi and the surrounding view on actual trees. Very friendly owners, it’s a family-driven place. No wifi in the rooms, but that didn‘t bother us for one night. Would love to come back!

The hotel is in good location if you plan to visit Laundmanalaugar. It has all main facilities; breakfast is really nice! You can spend the evenings in the cosy big common living room. If really tired - go to jacuzzi or vikings bath :)

It would be really nice to have some bowls, plates in the living room. We came in the evening and wanted to eat something, so that was a tiny problem..

We were the only ones at the hotel that evening, so we had exceptional service from the staff there. The rooms were very spacious, and I really enjoyed my time there. This stay was better than any of our previous 6 nights in Iceland.

remote location, very quiet and peaceful. ideal if you want to relax and h wind. host was very friendly. there were very friendly dogs. came to say hello when we were in a hot tub. fantastic relaxing place. we were booked in a room opposite hot tub, making things very convenient:-) coffee/tea making facilities. radio in a room. nice breakfast.

Beds were uncomfortable, especially the pillows. No restaurant as suggested by booking.com. microwave available if you brought your own food and crockery.
