Excellent location, good value/rate, good money change rate, friendly hostel staff, good airport to hotel transfer, awesome rooftop view

Had horrible experience with their very unprofessional driver for our Agra to Delhi transfer (late, left us with no aircon in the car in hot weather, fuelled 3 times, kept using cellphone while driving, kept opening his door to spit while driving, not properly dressed, strong cigarette smell in car, not in agreed meeting area after a stop, no consideration for passenger time/comfort). Hostel in noisy area.

Excellent location right next to the Taj Mahal which is what you're paying for. Helpful and Friendly staff welcomed us when we arrived earlier than expected at 6am and gave us a blanket and showed us to the common room as our room was obviously not ready. Very large bed with comfortable mattress. Lockers to leave your bags once you have checked out. Rooftop restaurant with a variety of options.

Our room smelled when we arrived and whilst this did dissipate eventually there was often a smell of cigarette smoke, possibly coming from the independent restaurant above our room. This also meant the room was a bit noisy (only in the morning). The room was clean despite the smell issue though. The shower may be faulty as it gave us a small electric shock but we have mentioned this and hopefully this will be fixed.

The location is definitely a bonus for this place as it being just 5 minutes walk from the entrance to the Taj Mahal. The hotel is split into two separate buildings, one with the dorm rooms and with a more lively atmosphere, (with the hostels cafe at the top of the building called Hippie cafe) and the other building is just 3 houses away but has the double rooms in there, with the hostel reception. I stayed in the double room (at the other building) and there is a roof top cafe (Chias Cafe) at the top of that building, it is not actually part of Joey's Hostel but shares the same stair way to go to the rooms or the Cafe. In my opinion, Chias Cafe had a better view as it was two floors above the Hippie cafe (which is at the other building and is part of Joey's Hostel) and has a more relaxed, family or mature couples environment with very nice clean food and menu, with proper table and chairs. Hippie cafe which is part of Joey's Hostel is located on the roof top of the dorm room, building and is definitely the one if your young and like to party or hang out, but there's no proper table where you can put your kness underneath them to eat. Regarding my double room, it was very big with a big bathroom and it was clean and tidy but can be further improved by paying a little more attention to detail in the corners and the furniture. The staff were all very good and heplful and very accommodating.

The hostel entrance is through an ally and it's not a very clean path to get there but for distance to the Taj Mahal, you can't complain.

The location is very convenient for a visit to Taj Mahal. The rickshaws also wait right outside if you want to go anywhere else. It's a hostel vibe so expect the same level of hygiene and overall look of the building and rooms.

It's quite big, they have many rooms and buildings which make staff interactions less personal. I booked the view of the Taj room. But it's the same view as from the terrace of the cafe. There are curtains before the window and if you open them others can look inside your room. Also, you look through a fence at the terrace which views the Taj. The pictures are a bit misleading on this feature. Because it's next to the terrace you can hear the loud music till 22.30. Not ideal if you want to visit the Taj in the very early morning.

The roof terrace was absolutely amazing. The view was great, on the Taj Mahal. The food there was also good. Breakfast buffet was nice, I liked the various options. Tee was always available for free. They offered a free walking tour (with tip) to the Taj Mahal for sunset views. This was a perfect way to meet other people from the hostel and to have dinner together on the rooftop. The room had everything one would need, we felt comfortable.

The only downside was that there was very little sound isolation. Let me quote my roommate: "there were armies of monkeys jumping on the roof, I couldn't sleep at all". 🐒😂 This is not a figure of speech, it was quite loud when monkeys ran over the roof.

The location was amazing! We walked to the Taj for sunrise in about 5 minutes it was really easy to access. The social areas are so nice and chill, it is a little slice of heaven. We met some friends there while overlooking the Taj Mahal on the first night! The room was good value for money, we booked the Taj view room and it was 100% worth it.

My ONLY negative is that the chicken wasn’t cooked properly (was very pink) in the burger. My partner and I had a burger and our friend who we met that day had chicken nuggets on the same night - this is the only thing we ate in common and 3 of us had severe food poisoning that lasted days. As a westerner deffo stay away from meat here, it almost ruined our holiday.

The hostel is definitely one of the best I've ever been to. It's clean, the beds are comfortable, the common areas are great and the rooftop, with its view, is just incredible. The restaurant is also very nice. The Taj Mahal is literally a 3 min walk away, which made the sunrise visit absolutely hassle free. I also needed their laudry service and that was spot on! But the true value of this accommodation is the staff (thank you for everything, Yash! :)). These young men take care of the hostel and the people living there with punctuality and passion for what they do. It was a most blissful stay and I would recommend this place to anybody going to Agra.

Joey’s Hostel offers a fantastic stay just 5 minutes’ walk from the Taj Mahal’s East Gate entrance. I booked this hostel because it was recommended to me by friends. I loved staying here for several reasons. The terrace is really the highlight of the hostel, the 24/7 view of the Taj Mahal. The vibes that this place emanates are very positive. The staff was very kind and helped me right away. Unfortunately during my stay I felt sick because of the heat (fever, I fainted etc). I called the reception and Yash took care of me and took me to the hospital, managing everything himself, because I was unable to do anything. He was my angel 👼🏻, he was with me the whole time, without him I don't know how I would have done. When we returned to the hostel they prepared something to eat for me and Pratick, the manager, stayed with me until I went to bed, to check on my health conditions. I'm still in contact with Yash and he asks me daily how I'm and if I'm continuing to take the medicines that the doctor prescribed me. Booking this hostel was the right choice for the welcome, kindness and helpfulness of the staff. As a solo traveler I have never found myself alone, always surrounded by smiling and helpful people. I will not easily forget this place, all the staff and above all I'll never know how to thank them completely. I'll return to Agra, because I have not had the opportunity to tour it as I like and I'll 100% book this hostel again. Thank you so much guys, if you come to Italy you are my guests ❤

Great place as you can see Taj Mahal from the top floor and it is a quick walk to the Taj,If you are coming to India to just see the Taj Mahal stay here and arrive early to avoid the crowds be at the gates at 5:00-5:30AM and book tickets online the staff can help. Also you only need half a day/less for Agra see the Taj get in and get out, the rest of the things to see in Agra are of waste of time and money in my opinion,TOUR GUIDES are not NEEDED for the Taj ,If you are going to the other places keep your foot coverings as they are required and should not cost more than 25 Rupees. Air Quality is poor around October,wear in a MASK in India for the pollution IT`S A MUST to avoid getting sick and try and drive in enclosed vehicles where ever possible,other than that great place to stay and be safe!!!
