What a peaceful, proficient ayurvedic resort in an idyllic forest setting. Although we didn’t initially reserve more than the mid-priced “Karma” level lodge rooms thru Booking, we converted to a 7 day all-inclusive package after seeing the setup & hastily doing the math on arrival. Can vouch for quantity & quality of the treatments, sometimes 3 per day, and our very minor aches & pains were history by departure. Both my husband and I had their joint treatment package (me for an occasionally achy knee from skiing, and he for an off & on running injury.) Hats off to their excellent chef for the creative & scrumptious meals; retreat staff are also responsive & caring. The yoga & meditation classes were ably led. The rooms are comfortable with super air con. The pool is a real treat considering the heat. Other guests represent a nice mix of ages (from kids to the senior set) and nations, maybe a third being from India. Everyone we met was interesting & very personable. With the resort’s focus on improvement, I hope they’re heading toward better communication about 3 important things: 1. What all the medicines, lotions & potions are & how they work. You really have to diligently pursue answers from them. Honestly, other ayurvedic resorts have much better explanations online & that’s where we learned the most. 2. What individual treatments & packages cost—they really should post all options & costs online in advance. Not only would it reduce perceived decision-making stress on arrival, it would likely increase # of people participating in treatment packages. Folks who only took a few treatments during their stay didn’t seem much impressed, likely because it wasn’t comprehensive or customized. Included here are photos of the resort’s pricing structure I saw only briefly on arrival, they’re not terribly transparent, that part needs work. 3.

Perfect place to relax as you’re right in the middle of nature

During our stay we upgraded our packages to avail Ayurveda treatments. They had indicated that everything including your food and room rate will be included in the package, however, while checking out they charged us extra for the food. Agreed while paying for the package I didn’t check the breakdown, but that was only because I trusted them and what they had said before agreeing to the package. The final check out amount was about 4 times my original booking amount, I wonder if it was because of my “foreigner” boyfriend and they have different rates for Indians and foreigners which is a common scam in India.

My second stay here and it didn't disappoint 😁 I was welcomed back like a part of the family by Anjana and Thomas. Morning yoga with Gripson was just what I needed to stay grounded with his calm voice and expert teaching I looked forward to the rooftop yoga. The food was varied, nutritious and delicious and Sushila was very efficient and friendly. Maria and Greeshma gave me the best Abhyanga massage. Dr Manorahan and Dr Aishwarya are incredibly experienced and patient doctors. Overall I felt very well cared for and I left Vajra feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after my 10 days. Thank you Vajra team and a special mention to the housekeeping ladies who are so warm and friendly and always helpful. My heart is full.....🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️

The stay was absolutely incredible and was a highlight of our trip. I recently had the most incredible experience at this Ayurveda and yoga retreat in Kerala, and I can't say enough positive things about it. From the moment I arrived, the staff welcomed me with such warmth and kindness that I instantly felt at home. The doctors at the retreat were not only highly knowledgeable in Ayurvedic medicine but also incredibly effective in tailoring treatments to individual needs. Their expertise truly shone through, and I felt confident in their care. The hosts were some of the warmest people I've ever met, and their passion for Ayurveda and yoga was so clear. They went out of their way to ensure everyone felt comfortable and had a memorable experience. The lush landscape surrounding the retreat added to the serene and rejuvenating atmosphere. The rooms are also very very clean and comfortable. One of the highlights was the vegetarian meals. Not only were they delicious and healthy, but they also played a vital role in the detox process during the stay. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty and satisfying the food was while still being incredibly nourishing. As someone new to yoga, I appreciated the patience and expertise of the yoga instructor. They made sure everyone had the right form and provided modifications when needed, making the practice accessible and enjoyable for all. The on-premises production of medicated Ayurvedic oil and the skilled massage therapists were also a highlight. The massages were not only relaxing but also therapeutic, leaving me feeling rejuvenated and balanced. Definitely try the shiodhara oil drip therapy and the steam box treatment — truly once in a lifetime experience. Overall, my time at this Ayurveda and yoga retreat in Kerala was nothing short of transformative. I left feeling healthier, happier, and more connected to my body and mind. I hope to return in the future for another incredible experience.

Relaxed attitude of staff meant I did not feel obliged to undertake any or all of the programs. However, on reflection I should have liked to be interviewed to see more clearly which activities might have been appropriate to me.

Meal choices. These were only average in terms of content and variety. Very little concession to “Western appetites” often resulted in trips to local shops to vary the diet of guests (or so I am told)

The best thing about this retreat is the staff. The doctors here are so helpful and know what they are talking about, and I found them to be kind, considerate, funny and knowledgeable. The ladies who did my treatments, genuinely care about you, and were amazing at their jobs. The cleaners, gardener and kitchen staff work so hard. The yoga teacher is passionate about his vocation. The physical treatments I received and so natural, my flexibility and health have improved. As a 50 something menopausal women with a thyroid issue and chronic fatigue, losing weight has been an issue. But here under the caring guidance of the doctors, I lost weight!! A miracle indeed. It hasn’t always been a walk in the park, but if you want to get serious about your health and breaking up with food and getting your life back, this is the place. Nothing I did not like. I think though a leaflet in each room explaining services on site and timings/costs of activities and how you’ll be contacted would help people to know how to plan their days. As it would be nice to know what is available and when.

This place is truly a paradise. It's very peaceful and charming, offering a perfect escape from the busy and noisy city life, which is exactly why we chose to stay here, even though we didn't know much about Ayurveda. Right from the start, the friendly smiles and kindness of the staff made us feel right at home. The food was incredible and sooo delicious too; it was all vegetarian, very tasty, and every day there were many dishes to choose from. One of our favorite moments was the traditional lunch served on banana leaves. I appreciated the personalized care from my Ayurvedic doctor, who always greeted me by my name when she met and had a small chat. ☺️ She also explained treatments with patience, never rushing or pushing me into something. The nature around the retreat is very beautiful, and there are lots of small trips you can take nearby. You'll also meet many interesting people here, who are taking treatments, and you can chat with them during meals. Something really special was our yoga teacher singing during shavasana. She was also very helpful when we wanted to rent a scooter. Everyone here is like an angel and they truly care about you—your health, your mind, and your body. Where do I begin? This place is truly special! I have suffered with skin conditions my whole life and travelled to Kerala to seek ayurvedic treatment back in 2022. I was searching for a place I could feel safe in the hands of the Doctors plus relax and unwind between treatments. Vajra was the perfect place! I therefore returned for a second time and this really is a second home for me. The whole team, from the kitchen staff, therapists, admin team to the Doctors truly made me feel welcome and part of the Vajra family. My treatments were timely and the massages were super relaxing. Between treatments there are tourist activities, as well as local walks so not to feel bored. The food is very healthy, tasty and simple, and the team went above and beyond to satisfy my special requests. The rooms are spacious and modern with AC and fans. Even if not coming for treatment, it is a great place to get away from the hussle and bustle. It is set amongst nature and offers spa and yoga so it's a great place to unwind. I truly feel blessed to have found Vajra and its team. The treatments and love and care shown have changed my life. This warm place will be a regular part of my healing journey. Thank you all!
