- AMAZING Staff. Special thanks to the front desk Manager Mr. Ataulla Khan; he was wonderful - Please ask for him when you visit. He will make it memorable. Special shout out to housekeeping staff Mr. Sidharth and Mr. Gopal who kept my room spotless clean - Heritage property thats maintained beautifully - Clean and spacious rooms - Small selection but Tasty breakfast

Since this is a mansion transformed into a hotel. THERE IS NO LIFT/ELEVATOR. This is eapecially important in case you have elders. They may not be able to climb the stairs. On the positive side of this, there are only 2 floors

Had a fantastic stay at the Astor as a family of 4, of whom two were very young children. The hotel itself is a beautiful heritage property fitted with modern amenities while preserving the old world charm. The food is great. But the part that I loved the most was the service. In my travels around the world, this has been our best hospitality experience. The staff took wonderful care of us. Tripti from the front desk helped us right size our booking 24 hours before the check in (since we had mistakenly overbooked the number of rooms), allocated a very suitable suite for us with some extra space that the kids could use, ensured that my wife’s food preferences (non gluten) were taken care of, checked on us frequently to ensure everything was in place. The housekeeping team led by Anirban was fantastic and even took extra care to provide air purifiers and adjusted the throbbing bass from the club downstairs so that we could rest very comfortably with solid soundproofing. The restaurant team ensured that we were fully taken care of. I have absolutely no complaints and we left very grateful and satisfied with our stay. Thank you again Tripti, Anirban and team! We will be back.

Our room was on top of their night club which is a pretty happening place and one of the latest clubs to stay open in Kolkata. So sometimes you can feel the bassy vibrations esp on the weekends. But the hotel staff did whatever they could to make our stay comfortable including actually adjusting the bass levels on the second night.

The Astor is a lovely heritage hotel in a quieter part of Kolkata, than say, New Market, but is still only a 10-minute walk to central Park Street. There are some goods shops and restaurants around. The buffet breakfast and eggs cooked to order were very good, as was the food in the dining room. The ambience of the dining room is beautiful olde world charm. The Staff were polite and helpful, and enabled us to have an early check-in, so we had a drink in the dining room, whilst the room was being made up.

There is a nightclub at The Astor, which plays extremely loud Duff Duff, music until 3am on a Sunday night. Impossible to get to sleep. When you book, please check when the night club is open, and avoid those nights, I think they are open on another night, but don't quote me on that.

The look.... a 1905 building which is well maintained by Archer hospitality. The ambience is a fine blend of British heritage n Indian makeover with latest comforts. Cuisine is very good. Hospitable staff.... special stars to Ms Geetanjali, Mr Shivnath, Mr Sanjay n Mr Joshi in the Kebab e que. At the receptiin the staff was extremely helpful n co-operative. Each n every person was polite n courteous. Cleanliness perfect.

There should be smaller combo meals for single person. Do not like to waste food. Beds too soft n smaller pillow required.

This was our first time in Kolkata and the Astor made it such a great experience. The hospitality is beyond impressive. The staff were extremely nice and made sure everything was perfect. The ambience transported us to the past and was sooo beautiful. It was the highlight of our trip. We felt safe and so comfortable in a place we have never been to. Mr. Anirban, was very very kind and helpful. He personally came and helped us, and made sure we had a perfect stay. A very chivalrous man, and is a great addition to a place which has such a historic tone to it. He invited us back and we will be sure to stay in Astor any time we visit in the future. The Astor made us like Kolkata even better, it surely is a gem to the partly historic town. And it is in a prime location, everything is at walkable distance. Couldn't find a better place to experience Kolkata truly!! Thank you Astor and Mr.Anirban, as well as the other staff, who made our bed and in the reception who made this experience more than pleasant.

Beautiful hotel in a heritage building. Comfortable beds, large rooms, great breakfast. The place was centrally located to restaurants and tourist places such as the Victoria Memorial.

Its a popular event venue and one section of the hotel—the window of our deluxe suite—was right next to Deck 88 so it got noisy. There was an event the day before our checkout and the staff were rearranging the furniture late at night. But the polite and understanding staff were very apologetic and even granted us late checkout.

The staff are amazingly good. They are superb. Very old Calcutta, not brash and very attentive and helpful. Many hotels can learn from the staff what the word 'hospitality' means.

The breakfast should be improved. I was expecting proper sausages, bacon, cold cuts, cheese, etc. The choice of breads was limited to white and brown. Smaller hotels serve a wider choice of bread. Entire breakfast menu should be changed. And could the management please introduce better coffee?

Room was immaculate and efficient. It was an odd shape, and a little smaller than I expected, but very comfortable. The location was very convenient and the staff was excellent. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety.

I think they could make more of their storied history. The remodel has made the hotel quite modern in many ways, but it would be nice if they could include more traditional decoration and history.

Helpful staff, great location, very good breakfast, spacious room

The hotel doesn't have an elevator and I was on 2nd Floor. I have a knee condition that made it very painful for me to go up and down. Also, there's a night club that gets very noisy and particularly on Saturday and Sunday night we could hear music and loud noises till 2 am, making it impossible to sleep. I told the staff who accompanied me to my room about my knee problem and requested a room on the first floor and she said the first floor would be too noisy. Well, I had a double issue...the second floor ( I was in room 205) was also noisy and getting to my room or coming down ( my knee hurts more when I climb down the stairs) was an ordeal.

We spent four nights at The Astor. The room was clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable and the hotel itself had a quaint historic charm. The usual range of breakfast options were fresh with well cooked eggs and excellent Masala tea. We ate heartily in the restaurant and enjoyed well made cocktails in the atmospheric upstairs open air bar Deck 88. The Lobby team were quietly efficient, convivial and very helpful. Recommended.
