The toilet was choked and room full of sewage smell. Need maintenance.

Located outside of Ubud nearby the ricefields meaning a bit remote environment. Great room, clean and spacious, comfy bed. Excellent restaurant, breakfast is superb. For dinner, check the seafood satay!!! The staff was the best, super kind and helpful people. All I can say it is THE BEST value for money you can imagine in Bali.

Our booked room with pool access had a mouldy smell, just like mentioned in many reviews, but we could move to another room upstairs, which was just perfect.

A Truly Unforgettable Stay! Our stay at The Sun of Granary exceeded all expectations. Everything was perfect—from the stunning private pool with its peaceful ambiance to the exceptional breakfast and dinner offerings. The Balinese dance performance was a beautiful highlight of our evenings. Although it’s a bit outside Ubud center, the location turned out to be a real advantage—peaceful, scenic, and a perfect escape from the crowds. This hotel made our trip incredibly memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the best of Bali in comfort and style!

Returning for my second stay at The Sun of Granary Resort Ubud, I was once again met with the exceptional, five-star service that makes this place truly memorable. Special thanks go to the amazing team—Indri, Ita, Putu, Ade, and Deyan from the booking team—who ensured every detail was handled with care. One of the highlights of this visit was the *jamu* making class, where I had the chance to learn the art of crafting Indonesia’s traditional herbal drink. It was a fun and immersive experience, and I loved that I could take the recipe home with me. And I did join the evening ceremony too, is a must :) The resort’s restaurant continues to impress with its high culinary standards, and breakfast is an absolute treat, setting a perfect tone for the day. This peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful property is surrounded by lush paddy fields, creating a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere that makes every stay unforgettable. A short walk from the resort leads to a charming local village, offering a glimpse into authentic Ubud life—a lovely addition to an already remarkable experience.

My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. The quality of the food is outstanding, with a wide variety of options on the menu that kept me satisfied at every meal. Breakfast, in particular, offered a generous and delicious selection. The location is breathtaking, nestled among rice fields and far from the hustle and bustle, providing a serene and beautiful escape. The pool and the entire property are intimate, impeccably clean, and stunningly beautiful. The staff was incredibly courteous, attentive, friendly, and highly skilled. I also appreciated the complimentary snacks and water in the room. The room itself was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The daily free activities to explore Balinese culture were a fantastic addition, allowing for an authentic and enriching experience.

My overall experience was excellent, but I have a few suggestions that could enhance the stay even further. While I appreciate the hotel’s effort towards being plastic-free, I noticed that some amenities were still wrapped in plastic before being placed in a paper bag. It would be great to see a complete elimination of plastic packaging, in line with the eco-friendly approach. Lastly, during the massage, I noticed that the towel used to cover me was already soaked with oils, which suggests it had been used for someone else before. I would have preferred a fresh, clean towel for a more hygienic experience.

The staff were amazingly attentive, absolutely beautiful surroundings, lovely villa and pool which were of outstanding quality. The food was fresh, of good quality and well-presented. The spa ladies had magical fingers with great attention to detail and our private excursion guide was extremely patient and helpful.

We found a few ants in the bed, although we expect insects being surrounded by nature we didn’t like them AT ALL in the bed, for us personally. This led to discomfortable sleeping patterns and a little anxiety. The staff did however give us some moderate bug spray IMMEDIATELY upon asking and we accept their high respect of nature.

The location is superb, you are in the country side surrounded by rice fields and nature. We had amazing walks in the surroundings, hearing frogs and birds. The hotel has a country feeling with all the commodities and down to earth luxury matching the surroundings. We did a trip organised by the hotel to East Bali and this again was superb, what an amazing driver, car and experience, and also rented a scooter with them to visit a waterfall, nearby villages and the Tegallalang rice terraces.

The property is away from the busy centre and full of lush trees and plants that really make it a little paradise to relax. If you’re a very light sleeper remember that you’re in the middle of nature so you will hear frogs and chickens throughout the night/morning. This has nothing to do with the property itself so it doesn’t impact my rating! Four bottles of water are provided and replenished daily, as well as some snacks. The room has a mosquito net and mosquito repellent although mosquitos were not a problem.

Some noises in the night though I understand the hotel is working to control it.

The best thing is the staff The location is a bit far from city centre but they provide shuttle and you can hop in to go to ubud We had a villa and then we changed to normal room and all is good and clean

What pissed me off a bit is that they just have a la carte breakfast which is not a big variety and if u still hungry u have to pay for your plate also i had to pay for my baby food then when i complained they said we are sorry and did provide food for my son without any charges So no buffet although you pay a lot And not a lot of activities i mean you have to pay for some activities The entrainment was not that good too so dont need to stay in the hotel if you are looking for enjoyment

Everything was amazing here. We did many activities like the Balinese dance, the evening ritual, the morning walk and they were all amazing! The treatment of the staff was exceptional. It was a very clean place. The pool was beautiful. It was our honeymoon and they included little touches for us. The breakfast was delicious. The bed is very comfortable. I could recommend it enough.

There was construction going on in the hotel while we were there.
