Hannah was a wonderful host, very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast room had a great view of the mountains, sea and the bridge. Tables laid with white table cloth and napkins, flowers and nice china. Homemade breads every day and choice of breakfasts. Our room had a big comfy bed and beautiful views of the sea. There's a large sitting room for guest use. The house is very clean and room cleaned every day too. I would recommend a stay here to anyone that loves a quirky, traditional home from home in a quiet location but near the town centre.

The only thing that could be better for me would be a stronger shower as I have long, thick hair.

What a wonderful place! The location and view are *insane,* perched over the town and the river and the gardens, and the breakfast was some of the absolute best we had in Ireland! So charming, and Hannah was very kind. Loved it here!

The shower/bath was a bit difficult to work with—the water didn’t get really hot, and my mom had trouble getting out of the bathtub—a non-slip mat would go a long way toward helping with that! And maybe a more powerful water heater or something.

Our hostess was very accommodating with our request for a different room layout. She was also helpful with information about where to eat and places to visit while in Kenmare. The room we stayed in had a nice overlook of the river with two chairs arranged for comfortable viewing. We were interested in hiking in the area and the location next to Kenmare was convenient to accessing trailways as well as providing a variety of fare. We even walked to town and back on one occasion.

The only drawback to the place was the relatively narrow driveway off of the road, which then heads rather steeply to the lodge - just go slow a be careful!

Location was walkable to the City Center. The grounds are large with beautiful flowers. Staff was very friendly, was nice to see she has her grandkids helping her. Exceptional breakfast. Comfy beds. Host provided good restaurant choices in town.

Unfortunately, without her husband you can see the property is becoming hard for her to fully maintain. The landscaping needed additional care. Walking back from city center is well lit until you get to the road that the house is located, then it is pitch black and no more sidewalk,

The breakfast was beautifully presented and excellent and served in a beautiful breakfast room. Hannah’s homemade bread was the best I’d tasted. The service at Muxnaw Lodge by Hannah, Nina or Isa was friendly and met every expectation. The Lodge is charming and the grounds and views beautiful. The location is perfect for visiting the Beara and Iveragh Peninsulas in Counties Cork and Kerry. It was my favorite place during my two weeks in Ireland and I hope to return. Thank you, Hannah.

I loved everything about our experience.

Initially place felt rather quirky and old worldly but it quickly grew on us. Hannah, the owner is friendly and helpful and does so much. She made delicious bread and tea-bread and homemade jam and marmalade for breakfast- all delicious. Large portions.Good size room and fabulous view from front. Fantastic location for Kenmare and Ring of Beara. Would stay here again.

Very clean except for ceiling cobwebs.

Staying at Muxnaw Lodge is a bit like going to stay at Grandma's House...you instantly feel comfortable and "at home" on arrival! Hannah and her daughter Nina are very outgoing and very receptive to questions, etc. While the property is an older one (and what a history it has!), it is clean and, for the most part, very well-maintained. Our upstairs room was spacious and well appointed; while some might find the older style of furniture and decor a bit "off-putting", we found it wonderful, adding to the overall charm of the property. We felt we got got good value for the price; lots of on-site parking, and wonderfully prepared breakfasts in a well-appointed dining room. Outstanding views of Kenmare Bay from our second-story room.

There were a couple of cleaning "oversights"...one was a moldy teabag in the teapot in our room and there was some sort of hair (animals with previous guests, perhaps?) on the bedding. Muxnaw is a bit out of town, and the driveway from the road up to the property is steep and narrow, but it sits up on a hill and is well back from the road, so very quiet.

This is an amazing B+B. It's a 200-year-old home full of history and set in a wonderful location with a view of the river and close to town. We enjoyed our stay and was on of the highlights of our 21-day trip to the Emerald Island! Hammah, the owner is a delightful person who met us at the door and continued to check in on us through our trip. Breakfast was an event onto itself. Highly recomended!

That we didn't stay longer :)

My husband I took our first trip to Ireland and stayed at 3 luxurious modern hotels, one 1797 pub & inn and 3 bed and breakfasts. After 3 weeks I cannot stop thinking of how charming, comfy and inviting the Muxnaw Lodge Bed and Breakfast was. It wasn’t the nicest, newest or oldest but it was my favorite; mostly because of how welcoming and accommodating the host, Hanna was. Staying at the Muxnaw is like taking a step back in time, staying at your fairy grandma’s. Antique furniture, rugs and knickknacks fill every room and corner. The grounds are magical; a bit wild, filled with beautiful gardens, trees, shrubs and birds. On a couple occasions I saw a gold-crowned fairy wren. Poems are engraved on large stones surrounding the area to the west of the lodge. The views from our room and the grounds of Kenmare Bay and Our Lady’s Bridge were spectacular especially first thing in the morning when the bay was misty and clear as glass. The hearty full Irish breakfast was delicious, Irish bacon, sausage, eggs, fresh orange juice, toast; all started off with tasty homemade breakfast breads. The salmon (kind of like lox) and eggs were amazing too. The Lodge is close to the historical town of Kenmare, a bit touristy but cute with fun pubs and gift shops. I hope to get the opportunity to stay at The Muxnaw again!!! Thank you, Hanna for your warm hospitality and an unforgettable experience!!!

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique inviting Irish experience. If you are looking for modern amenities and aesthetics do not stay here.

The breakfast was incredible - smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. My wife had the traditional breakfast which was also very tasty - I loved the sausages. The hospitality was amazing and Hannah, the hostess was so pleasant and also told us where the oldest pub in town was so we could have a quick pint. Just amazing!

Not sure? It's hard to make a judgement when everything was so perfect! Maybe the light in the bathroom could use an LED bulb - a 1st world problem.
