Morthy & Marian are first class people! An authentic Irish experience can be had here, from haute cuisine (Marion) and her delectable home made Jam et al, and the fresh Salmon she prepares for guests, to Morthy’s gracious and charming nature and character and gentlemanly ways! We sat by the fire (peat burning) and while away the evening with people who are as warm as the Irish summer day is long! Murthy and his avuncular ways harken back to a kinder, gentler time when Craig was good and the home was a man’s haven! Together Morthy and Mariann make a formidable team (Sarah added to the evening’s character) and all in all a. Better time could. It be had bar none! Breakfast was delectable and nobody recites short shrift at Marian’s table! The trad Irish breakfast will carry you throug the Ring of Kerry: Beara Peninsula, Moll’s Gap ir wherever your fancy takes! One of the best parts of our trip was the time shared with this family in abode laughing and learning about each other and speaking of Ireland! There are other B&B’s to be sure but they don’t have Morthy and Marian and if for that reason alone, and yet there are many others including the wild setting minutes from Kenmare with horses enjoying the surrounds beside their home! Come for the beauty of Ireland at its most sublime and then stay and make merry with a lovely couple - find your own pot of gold at this happy home! The food will tickle your tastebuds and the family will touch your heart! The water was hotter than other homes we stayed at - the breakfast tastier / the company more grand and the night sky sparkled! Even in the absence of sunshine or rain on this cloudy day, a double rainbow of happiness encompasses this warm, happy and loving abode! If you don’t enjoy yourself here you probably shouldn’t have come to Ireland!
That we only had one night to share together!

A lovely, well-appointed house, and a spotlessly clean large bedroom with a great sea view. A terrific bathroom and shower, and a very comfortable bed. Marion and Mourty are exceptional and very friendly hosts who couldn't do enough for their guests. They booked us into a fabulous local restaurant for dinner and insisted on making us tea with delicious home-made cake when we arrived. They also served an amazing breakfast with many choices to suit every taste. Definitely one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in. And very good value too. Highly recommended - 10 out of ten.
Nothing. Everything was first-rate.

We had a delightful stay at Mulcahys and met the hosts - Marian, Morty and Sarah. They had a warming fire in their fireplace when we arrived. What a beautiful B&B. Our upstairs room was very large, immaculate clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. I voted our bed there as the best mattress in Ireland and I had a fantastic night of sleep! The bathroom was very large and nice with a great shower/hot water. We were excited they used top sheets and had wash cloths (face cloths)! We now understand that is not a common item offered at lodgings in Europe. In the morning, we were served a delicious Irish breakfast with wonderful homemade brown bread. Morty keeps their yard beautifully manicured with blooming flowers. We hope they will visit us sometime in East TN when they are on holiday in the US.

Cosy, clean, comfortable. But above all Morty and Marian are so friendly, helpfull and warm that you start to doubt about your own rushy life, impatience and attitude towards others... wish we could put both of them with us in a suitcase and take them back home (as our new neighbours). Location is top notch for exploring areas like Kerry and beyond. Breakfast is restaurant-worthy and no request is too much. The B&B is run very professional, without losing the personal touch.
Can't think of anything except the slightly creaking bathroom floor that could wake up my wife during the night (but didn't).

My aunt and I were on a 3 night, 4 day trip to the west coast and had our accommodations booked for all nights except for the last one. We were very fortunate to come across Oakfield! Mariane, one of our hosts, recommended a wonderful place for dinner before we arrived at the B&B: Sailor's Bar & Restaurant, a locally-owned place just a minute away from Oakfield. It was the best meal we had the whole trip! From the moment we walked through the door at Oakfield, we felt at home. We were greeted by both Mariane and Morty, as well as their daughter, Anne Marie, and offered a tea or coffee as we came in. Our room was clean and cozy, the sheets and the towels were so soft and clean - everything was just spotless. We both slept very comfortably, as if we were at home. The breakfast the next morning was so delicious!! There was an assortment of cereals, yogurts, and fruit juices to start with, then they had a menu of hot breakfasts available to order, including a full, traditional Irish breakfast. The hot meals came with toast and fresh, homemade brown bread. Mariane, one of our hosts, also had delicious, homemade marmalade. I ordered the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and my aunt and I both enjoyed the salmon so much, we inquired where it came from. Morty let us know that it was from a local fisherman down the road and when we expressed interest in buying some, he placed an order for us and gave us directions on where to pick it up. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!
Neither of us have any complaints, we really enjoyed everything about our stay at Oakfield. We would highly recommend anyone visiting the Kenmare area to stay here if they get a chance!

Lovely place to stay, Morty & Marian really treat you like family with incredible hospitality. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious! Had a great cycling trip, their location is very convenient to many amazing rides on and off of the Ring of Kerry & Ring of Beara. Easy access to Kenmare, and walking distance to a great local pub.
Liked everything. Would love to come back one day.

We loved the homely atmosphere of this place. The room was very comfortable. Marion and Morty were very welcoming, offering tea and cake on arrival. Morty's fresh fruit salad was delicious. The choice for cooked breakfast was amazing. Both of them were lovely genuine people, and nothing was a problem. Morty gave us great tips for our journey through the mountains. A magical find.

Truly a very nice B&B. Morty and his wife are professionals at running a B&B. The home /room/bathroom were super nice and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional. The views are great! Morty is extremely helpful and will give you ideas on how to best visit this area.
I do not really consider this a negative, but there are no restaurants etc. within walking distance. Kenmare is a nice town, but it is about a 5km drive.

The property is spotless and very comfortable. A lovely cottage in the countryside. The hosts are the most wonderful and accommodating people. We would gladly stay here again when visiting the Kenmare area.
