So much history here...an excellent guest information booklet available in the rooms about EVERYTHING around + the Story of the historic Eccles Hotel... Unforgettable view over the Bay during the breakfast time... Single room had a double bed! The slippers, the robes, the luxury irish brand toiletries... Fantastic SPA team, good selection of treatments, special thanks to Aoife! Hotel has its own herb-garden - got a fresh branch into my cocktail from there! Homemade magic bread and fantastic little cheese scones, so very crumble !!!
Breakfast is available from 8am - would recommend an earlier time, as there is so much of beauty to discover around this region... I was lucky, they allowed me in even 10min earlier, when I showed up, hihii! Maybe a bicycle rental would be nice? but the roads around are narrow and might be a bit dangerous...

Had the forest facing room which was quite relaxing setting. Although it would have been great to see the sea, we could easily view this from the bar and restaurant. Food was very tasty, we dined there for dinner and breakfast the next morning. Parking was super easy and bar was very relaxing. Had a really lovely romantic after dinner walk along the seafront and to the nearby woodland walk which was great. Was cool to read the history of the hotel and some famous figures that stayed there! It even features in a guide from 1880s of a traveller going around Ireland!
Only thing was it was a little pricey but it was a great stay, wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful place in a great location. Right by the ferry to Garinish Island. Short walk to the centre of Glengariff Town. Great spa - I had a lovely facial treatment and the facilities + relaxation room were great. Pity about the jacuzzi: only 2 tubs are available which you have to book a time slot for - we ended up unable to use the tub although we had technically paid for it! They told us are slots were booked up. Breakfast was fantastic. Dinner at their pub was OK - unfortunately they only serve dinner till 7pm! Dessert (fruit crumble) was divine. VERY comfortable beds. Great branded toiletries from their spa - a luxurious touch to the room. Another great thing was the robes - although one size, they were very roomy and comfortable (always a plus if you're a tall/Curvy individual!). Would stay again!

The staff were exceptional, very helpful and generous with their time
The carpets throughout the hotel could do with a shampoo. Coming out from the restaurant particucilarly they are very sticky and dirty looking. Also, some help with bags would have been nice, We were in 336, a lovely spaacious room, but my mother has a heart contition and found the steps up and down very exhausting.

Excellent attentive and friendly staff particularly the Bar man Adrian. Open fires in reception area very homely and welcoming. Location overlooking the bay was magical. Food good quality and tasty. Good shower and plenty fluffy towels. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided.
Old windows in bedroom very draughty. Single room very small and not much space. No need for so many pillows and cushions on bed for one person-I only used two but there was no space to leave the additional two pillows and 3 cushions that just clogged up the space.

The location was great. Lovely old well-maintained building, lots of character! Very warm and friendly staff, and my room was great! I found the bed very comfortable, and the ensuite was fresh and pleasant - always hot water for the shower. I liked the choice of TV channels, and loved the view from my window, over the bay and little islands, the woods and mountains. Lots of good food available at breakfast, with plenty of tea/coffee. Dinner in the restaurant was of an exceptionally high standard. Really delicious, and beautifully presented. Open fire in the lobby, occasionally, was lovely. The boat to Garnish Island is just across the road and down a bit. The trip across was a pleasure, with John pointing out seals on a rock, and the house where the actress Maureen O'Hara lived for 40 years. Garinish is beautiful, even in late March. Coming back, we saw a White Tailed Eagle! Astonishing! Also near the hotel is The Blue Pool, a lovely walkway around an inlet of the bay. I also climbed the 188 rough steps to Lady Bantry's Lookout. Well worth the climb! Wonderful views!
No complaints at all.

The staff were incredible. So friendly, polite and helpful. They went above and beyond in assisting us. The rooms were recently redecorated and we had a large bathroom. The food was excellent.
The main issue was internal accessibility. My mum was using wheelchair. The restaurant was up 7 steps, and there was no other way of accessing it. Being built in the 1700s, I expected some accessibility issues.

Beautiful location Excellent food - best sweet I ever had! Very good staff, well trained and helpful Very clean Lovely reception area and restaurant
Room was cold as window was open when we arrived and heat off. When we put radiators on we were roasted - no way to regulate heat. Fan in bathroom not working so bathroom steam didn’t clear therefore it smelt fusty. To be fair when it was reported maintenance did come but were unable to fix it then and then as it needed an electrician.

What’s not to like about the location and gem of a building overlooking the sea, a little gem of history
Overall service was good but not the 4 or 5 star I would expect given cost of room - restaurant service both bank holiday afternoon and evening far from silver status tables left unmade, staff inattentive and food slow to come out. Spa and breakfast staff however were very pleasant, attentive and accommodating.

I love that it had character. Even though it was a bit like a maze to navigate- this added to the character and charm of the hotel. The food was amazing. The staff were extremely professional, helpful and friendly. The spa was relaxing. The room was comfortable although a little cold.
The bathroom in the family room is quite small- no shelf to place items. A little chilly also. Our elderly mum was with us and struggled a bit with the steps- this may be helpful to be aware of when booking. However she made it and it didn’t take away from our enjoyment of an excellent night away!
