the building is under renovation so the scaffolding on the windows spoilt the outlook. That said, I would highly recommend this place

Fabio, the host, didn't speak much English, but he was very kind in waiting for our arrival, and he was helpful in getting us settled in :) The room itself was very large and nice with good AC, and the bed was pretty comfy. The location is absolutely perfect — a very easy walk from the train station and mere meters from the gates of the old town.

The bathroom was a travesty. The doors to the tiny corner shower were off their tracks (and indeed never looked like they were attached to begin with), so the floor would get very wet, and the pressure from the shower head, only half of which had functioning nozzles, felt like a light drizzle. I understand the weather was terribly hot during our stay, and the structure was clearly historical, but the water (from the faucet and the shower) was never anything but lukewarm. The toilet was also very, very persnickety. Last, but certainly not least, there were two doors off of the room. From the pictures, it seems one of them led to a kitchen, but we had no key for this. The other, I have no idea, but on two nights, we heard a lot of late-night chatting (like at 3AM). One night, it was evident there was a family zoom call going on, with loud voices and ringing phones (again at 3AM). I'm not sure who they were, but it was incredibly unsettling. We let Fabio know, and he told us 24 hours later on the final day that he had dealt with the issue. If it had just been a wall, I might have felt differently, but given that it was through a door, I felt quite unsafe.
