Danila was a beautiful host and very caring, and Andrea was very forthcoming with information that we needed. He welcomed us at the gate and checked us in. He immediately helped us with a diner reservation that he made fo rus from his phone. We had a wonderful diner experience close by.

Everything was wonderful. We were not told or did not see that there was a train running by close. I only saw this information after we ahd received teh confirmation. For us it wasn't a problem. Our room was to the garden side. If someone is very, very sensitive it should be mentioned. On the other hand, the train doesnt run that often, and it really didn't bother us, even though we noticed it late at night and early in the morning. So, its a difficult one.

I have been to many similar places, but what I felt here next to Andre and Dani, is pure Tuscany, all the best recommendations for this real Tuscany place. With style, smell, knowledge, dedication. Every recommendation, I hope I will come again to this beautiful villa.

The only thing I didn't like was the too short time of my stay with my family in this wonderful house in Tuscany, with these wonderful people. Anyone who wants to complain doesn't understand the ease and simplicity of life.

Wow- second time here and it is under new management. Danila and Andrea are very welcoming and helpful. The building is the original border crossing “house” between Lucca and Pisa. It is a mansion steeped in history surrounded by a glorious garden estate! Room was spacious and quiet and very comfortable. Breakfasts are excellent, with custom made omelets, if you like.

Absolutely nothing! We stay here because Lucca is one of our most favorite cities in Italy and you are ten minutes away by car. Safe and secure private parking on site!

I love the history of this place, the antiques, the garden and above all Mara and Francesca. They both looked after us and their attention to detail was amazing. We loved and enjoyed the company of Leopoldo and Gastone the teckels. We would recommend this place to anyone who loves history and wants to be close to Lucca. Thank you so much for everything

Absolutely lovely. The property it’s an oasis of calm & serenity as it has a massive garden in the back that seems more ljke a park with big tall trees than a simple garden. Staff is so kind and nice. Really makes the whole place and staying there a wonderful experience. If you’re driving or cycling stay here not in a hotel. Location is 10 min drive from Lucca city centre so a vehicle (of any shape or form) is necessary

The property is  breathtakingly beautiful. Everything is decorated perfectly and with taste, our room was incredible and in this bed i might have had one of the best sleeps of my life. It is obvious that the owners run their business with a lot of love. The owner and her partner are sweet, polite and very customer oriented. The homemade cakes for breakfast were delicious. It was amazing and we would definitely return.

Andrea was an excellent host, we arrived late into Pisa and Andrea hung around until near 12 to allow us to check in. Nothing was to much bother. The villa itself is gorgeous, room decor was traditional and quirky. Breakfast was fantastic too. We enjoyed our stay so much we even rebooked for our lastnight!+±+8

We were delighted to stay there: everything was just perfect!! The house was built about 500 years ago and beautifully restored and decorated with antique furniture. Our hosts were very friendly and gave us all the info we needed about Lucca, Pisa and surroundings. Breakfast was delicious!! Our room was spacious and very comfortable!! We also enjoyed the old garden surrounding the house. It is a unique location to stay. We, for sure, will never forget our stay at Villa la Dogana!!❤️

We loved our stay at Villa La Dogana! The rooms are beautiful and well maintained, beds are really comfy. The garden is lovely and magnolia tree is a must see. It's also located close to Lucca, only a 10 min drive away. But the biggest highlight of our stay here was the breakfast! So many (homemade) options to choose from. You can't make a bad decision on what to pick, since everything tastes delicious!

I can understand some people would feel intimated by some of the dogs.
