The staff were brilliant even when we arrived slightly frazzled from the long drive. The host was so friendly and gave us lots of good advice for our stay. The rooms were lovely and the bed was comfy. It was also a really short walk to the old town.

We struggled to find free parking

The location of the apartment is just perfect - on the verge between the historic center of Matera and the modern part of the town.All historic sites are 10 minutes away walking distance and it is quite a pleasant walk. The apartment itself was spacious, very relaxed decoration and the hosts were kind enough to put a baby cot for our baby. Bath tub in the room was an unique amenity and we did enjoy it. The bed was big and comfortable.. Parking on the street was free and we were lucky enough to secure a spot for two days

Although the room is quite romantic, not having a door between the sleeping area and bathroom / wc was an inconvenience for us.. Breakfast could be more various as it mostly contains sweets, coffee however was great.. To be fair, we did not like the fact that we were offered a discount for a 10 star review. This means part of the high rating is due to this 'tactics'. I do believe the quality of the place is good enough to have very good ratings.

This place was exceptional. We booked the top room with the Jacuzzi, which was perfect for a scorching hot day. The bedroom was bright, spacious, and comfortable, and the small terrace with the Jacuzzi, lush plants, chairs, and table provided a wonderful spot to unwind after a full day of exploring. The location was ideal—just a short walk to the main attractions, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing.

There are a few stairs leading to the room, so I might not recommend it if you have large or heavy luggage.

Location near the entrance to the old city. Room size, bigger than most we stayed in during our visit to Puglia. Bathroom size. Super clean. Tastefully furnished and new. Wonderfull and super accomodating staff, went out their way to make sure our laundry was done on time for our departure. Highly recommend.

We did not have breakfast there as our rooms where at a second location near. Eating involved a lot of steps and limited mobility was an issue. the room and very clean as was the entry. beds good and shower forceful.

It took a bit of time to get round to not having a door to the loo , just a curtain! We adjusted quickly though. Everything is done via the internet and whats app. us older folks not that good with it and prefer meeting a person.

Beautiful room with a free standing bath! LLAkettle to make tea (asked for milk). Champagne glasses in the fridge, so we could drink our own bottle of sparkling Rose we had bought in town. Lovely breakfast on the rooftop terrace - cereals, cheese, ham, pastries, fruit. The young lady, Giulia, who checked us in could not have been more helpful - excellent English and keen to show us on the map viewpoints and other must-sees 👍👏🏻

Free parking in the streets, but difficult to find a space (but can book paid garage for a fee through reception). Up two flights of steep steps, so difficult if you have a heavy suitcase.

Perfect location, just outside the old part of the city, found easily a free parking space in the next street. Breakfast at the terrace. Simple but spacious room. Giulia was very helpful showing us the best itineraries and places to eat. Caruso ice cream, just across the small park, was the best we’ve had on our trip!

Bare walls in the room (no deco). Could hear activities from the neighbouring room :(.

It exceeded all my expectations. The experience was truly remarkable. First and foremost, the apartment itself looked even better than it did in the pictures. Matera can get incredibly hot during the day, but the presence of a jacuzzi in the apartment proved to be an absolute lifesaver. It provided a refreshing escape from the scorching heat and allowed us to relax and unwind in style. The jacuzzi was a delightful addition that enhanced our overall experience. Cleanliness is an essential aspect of any accommodation, and the Matera Apartment truly excelled in this regard. The room was spotless. One of the highlights of our stay was the incredibly comfortable bed. The quality of the mattress and bedding ensured a restful night's sleep, and I must say we slept like babies throughout our time there. The apartment had perfect shades that allowed us to sleep in the morning without being disturbed by sunlight. The air conditioning system worked flawlessly, providing a much-needed respite from the summer heat. Although the wifi occasionally experienced minor disruptions, they offered an alternative option, which mitigated any inconvenience we may have faced. The apartment's convenient location made it easy for us to find nearby parking. Moreover, the cost of parking was reasonable, which was an added bonus, and you can get anywhere on foot. Last but certainly not least, the staff were simply amazing. They were attentive, and friendly, and went above and beyond to meet our every need. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcome and ensured that our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. I would wholeheartedly recommend San Michele to anyone seeking a perfect summer getaway. The apartment's exquisite aesthetics, the addition of the jacuzzi, the cleanliness, the comfortable bed, and the attentive staff all contributed to an unforgettable experience. Altra pizza in front of the place is also amazing!!

Breakfast could be more authentic and diverse, but honestly, we didn't care, we bought great products in the local deli.

We were given an upgrade to a top floor room with balcony, jacuzzi and plenty of space. The room was well equipped and some small snacks were offered free of charge - thanks for the generosity! The location was ideal - within a short (literally 2-minute) walk to old Matera. The receptionist couldn't be any more helpful. She checked us in with a smile and gave us valuable suggestions of where to eat and routes to explore Matera on foot with the time we had available. On-street parking was available just outside but we were travelling off-season. Better check with the hotel during peak season. All considered, this is a great place to stay at! Great value for money.

I liked everything.

Beautiful, clean, modern and spacious rooms. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. Perfect location and I would love to stay here again.

The jacuzzi doesn’t work but the photos of it are still used for advertising the property so that was a little disappointing.
