This hotel is a spot of heaven - we were looking for a quiet stay surrounded by nature and this delivered by far. It was easy to get to the hotel and car parking was also effortless. The room was nicely sized, very clean and the beds very comfortable. We also had gorgeous views of Catania from our room. All the staff we spoke to were very nice and friendly speaking English and Italian, and Matteo who's also the chef took great care of us. The breakfast was plentiful, beautifully presented, and scrumptious. We also dined in the evening and the food was superb. Special care was taken in preparing gluten free food for me, and I felt very safe eating which I never take for granted. I also had fresh baked gluten free cakes for breakfast. Matteo also gave some nice recommendations for less touristy walks in the area which we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt entirely spoiled! Definitely planning on visiting again!!

Showers were not so hot.

Full of character, retaining the charm of its 100 years of history Villa Dorata is an unexpected delight located a 7 mins by car from the cable car station on Etna. The rooms aren’t overly modern but rather are furnished in keeping with the character of the property. The staff are incredibly welcoming from Marco to the chef Mateo who are full of recommendations and offer a fantastic, fresh home made breakfast with plenty of options and a high quality evening menu which was incredibly tasty, accompanied by a varied wine selection at reasonable prices with great recommendations from Marco. If you don’t want the hassle and cost of going to the peak, there are plenty of walks within minutes of the hotel, across old lava flows with views of Catania below. Wish we’d stayed for another couple of nights just to relax but know we’d have eaten and drink far too much!!

Our hot water didn’t work on the first night, but was fixed promptly by Marco. That’s the trade off for being somewhere older with lots of character.

Beautiful place to rest at in all peace and with the help of the most hospitable man we could ever enjoy the company of. The food was the most delicious you'll find close to Etna's surroundings (if not in the entirety of Sicily) so even if you don't stay the night to drown in the magnificent sunset over the hills this place has to offer, please do add a stop to enjoy the marvelous food and wine and company the passionate people here have on offer. I will definitely come again just to stay here again!

Perhaps the fact they don't open the kitchen for lunch (though they do package lunch if you want); I'd have loved to have 2 warm meals in this amazingly hospitable and delicious place! Though if we stayed longer, that might also have been the perfect solution to be able to try everything off their menu of local produce and cookery full of love and passion.

The location is fantastic, offering breathtaking views. The house, once a cherished family summer home, has been lovingly transformed into a hotel—retaining its unique features and rich history. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. The people are genuinely kind and incredibly welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious—distinct in the best way. Their selection of Sicilian wines is very good. We highly recommend this wonderful place!

The only minor inconvenience was that the shower water never got truly hot, just warm—but honestly, it didn’t take away from our overall experience.

A authentic mountain hotel nestled in the heart of Etna! The decor and style are so charming and the location is in the center of the Etna Park But what sets this hotel apart is the amazing staff (Matteo)! We had some issues with our room, that normally would have been very concerning. However, the way that the staff managed the situation was so reassuring, that overall we'd certainly come back. Lastly the desserts & breakfast served in the classic dining room were incredible. Each item was handmade in the kitchen and the quality truly showed! Thank you Matteo for your thoughtful service and the hard work you put into maintaining such a traditional hotel!

The hotel is a beautiful property. The location on the mountain is tranquil and also close to the cable car. The charming decorations and the food were the highlights. Loved the dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast included with the room. We also had the packed lunches and enjoyed them during our hike of Mt Etna. The hospitality by Giuseppe and Matteo were top notch. Had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

No issues. Loved everything.

We stayed only for one night visiting Etna on our Sicily trip. Very nice, vintage hotel just a short drive from gondola. Very nice staff. Great view to the valley. It is possible to have gourmet dinner. We even got some coupons on the reception for free drinks and snacks in the bar on top of gondola. Just a few 100 meters away there is a great view point to the Etna top craters (we were very lucky to see a big outburts right on the night we were staying there, amazing.) Etna, even without active outburts is a must visit site when you are on Sicily and we recomend this hotel.

The location of the hotel is ideal, just a short drive from the Rifugio Giovanni Sapienza, where you can find the cable car and the starting point of many of the Etna tours. We were also given advice about some very nice hiking routes that we could take on our own. The surroundings are quiet, and there is a restaurant on site that serves a good breakfast.

As it's an older building, you can hear the other guests walking around, entering/exiting their rooms, and talking in their rooms. Also, note that there are two triple rooms, both advertised as having sea and mountain views. Unfortunately, one of the rooms has only one small window with no view - this not clear at all from the description, and we found this out only after entering the room.

Perfect location for exploring Mount Etna. Hotel has an old-world charm and the rooms are enormous. Nothing impersonal about a smaller establishment like this. Easy to access the property by car, with free parking on-site. We had a lovely dinner at the hotel, as there is not much else in the vicinity. The staff accommodated our early departure and provide a packed breakfast.

Our only small criticism is that the staff were 10 minutes late with our packed breakfasts on the day of our mountain excursion. But the packed meals were good quality and we enjoyed them very much on our hike :-)

Very nicely located for a hike to the Etna. The hotel had a great ambiance and view. Staff speaks good english and tries their best to make you comfortable. Vivienne was exceptionally nice. Would recommend. They also can make you a lunch package for the tour which is well priced and very very nice.

The bed (and pillow) was too hard for our liking. Also the breakfast starts at 8, might be more convenient to start 30 min earlier. But that is just a recommendation. Breakfast products are very nice.
