The location was good but you will definitely need to rent a car to properly go to all of the island. The surrounding area of the hotel was beautiful and it was very peaceful. The room was nice and was very clean and orderly when we arrived.

We showed up after the check-in time and no one from the staff was there. There also wasn't a place to leave our bags after check-out on Sunday which was a bit inconvenient for people with ferries late in the day.

Very nice country house place with mostly sweet breakfast on the terrasse. The remote location is quiet and clean. Very good communication with the owner.

The very very soft mattress on one of the beds. Air condition rattling, and since the roof is pure stone it was hot inside with no possibility to have it on at least few hours into the night.

Difficult to reach by foot from the bus stop, and no pick-up service. No salty nor really fresh breakfast.

No water or tea/coffee available as they leave the property at 1pm, We think for the price we should of had some water and drinks etc in the room

The breakfast was good as I like sweet breakfasts and the choice was excellent. You could have croissants or cakes , bread and jam. There was also some cheese and ham for who likes more savoury breakfasts. You could also enjoy a classic Italian capuccino. The room was clean enough, and nice. When you get a room with Gli Acquarelli you can also use the adjacent beach and their facilities for free. Which is a plus. The location is good but you need to travel with a car or your own method of travelling, not fault of the Hotel, at the moment the bus service in Elba is not good at all. So if you are relying on public transport, just make sure things have improved in Elba.

On the Booking.com site they say that you pay at the Hotel, no pre-payment needed, unfortunately due to a mistake by the hotel, I was charged twice without me being present. One of the charges was only a security payment, and I was reassured that it would go back into my account, but it took two weeks for this to happen and that created a problem for me. With my account this type of payments stays in pending and the money cannot be used until it is unblocked by the person that organized the payment ( the hotel as they had my card details) and I was on holiday. The manager didn't deal with the problem professionally. I still don't understand the need of two payments one as a security and one to pay the hotel stay, that actually went through quicker than I got refunded of the security one, which was the double of the total payment I owed the hotel. She told me she would contact the digital payment solution company to see if they could unblock it quicker, but I think she never did as she never even give him updates and when I contacted her again, she told me to call my bank to resolve the problem. Which I had to do and to be able to use the money that was stuck I had to start a dispute because otherwise I would have been short in money during my holiday. My advice is ,make sure that you use a card that doesn't allow the Hotel to take more than they are owed, as even if one was a security payment that was not charged it took two weeks for the money on mine to become available to me again. And ask the hotel before booking what payments they will take form your card.
