Well maintained, great breakfast, beautiful property but above all we are thankful for the staff member who went above and beyond by helping us park our car and later following through multiple hurdles to get our forgotten items back to us! It was not easy in Sicily when on our side we did not speak Italian and did not have a tax Id.

A suggestion: the hotel should sign up for Lhost or other similar site that manage return of items left behind. Due to the lack of Italian tax id, we could not get a regular courier service.

Gorgeous pool in the lovely lawned garden stretching over three levels. So super to have this decent-sized pool right in the centre of Ragusa! The breakfast is super, with a great hot and cold selection, taken in the rather refined, picturesque dining room. One can also take breakfast on the adjoining terrace - in the shade at that time of day. It overlooks the pool, which has the sun almost all day long. The hotel is at the lower end of Ragusa Superiore (the relatively new - i.e. Baroque and a little later - half of town). The view of the garden and surrounding buildings from rooms at the rear of the hotel is lovely and mine, on the top floor, even had a distant (very) side view of Ragusa Ibla (the ancient town) and the upper reaches of the Duomo di San Giorgio. This is a beautiful little hotel. The building is historic and with real character. It lies on a steep, picturesque side street but in convenient reach of bus to Ragusa Ibla (the oldest bit) across the ravine. Less than 5 minutes walk up the hill from wonderful Scale del Gusto restaurant with stunning terrace views past the spire of the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Scale across the ravine to Ragusa Ibla.

Parking! Always a challenge in a crowded town. The hotel has an arrangement with a local underground carpark, which makes payment for the parking, at the end of one's stay easy, completed on check-out - NOT at the car park, or you'll have paid twice! The car park is, regrettably, a ten minute walk up the steep hill from the hotel. Driving the very steep and narrow streets of Ragusa is not for the beginner! If not used to this, do practise your hill starts and hill parking before arrival! (Make sure you have good hand brakes; park in gear, with downhill side of front wheels pointing into the curb!)

Beds were comfortable. The rooms and bathroom were very clean and quiet. Nice building. The pool is great (but was cold at that time of the year - late October) and the garden as well. The breakfast was overall quite nice (and the breakfast room very nice with high ceilings). The Villa is close to the old town and new part of town which can be reached by foot. Staff was helpful with the parking in the narrow street (i.e. handing over a card for 10 EUR/day). One piece of advice: Do not rent a big car if you wish to park in the street in front of the Villa del Lauro.

The WiFi did not work at all in our apartment during our stay which was problematic to book some activities (we had to go to the reception and use the wifi there). Breakfast always the same (no changes at all during our stay, limited fruits). Staff did not spontaneously proposed coffee or tea but was nice. The odor in the shower (like mushrooms). The mosquito net was broken in the one of the rooms so clearly inefficient. The chair outside had some pigeon droppings on it. But overall a positive experience!

We chose the hotel as we wanted a pool to relax for a couple of days & we were not disappointed - the pool & gardens are beautiful. For us the location was perfect- close to the steps to walk to Ragusa Ibla but be aware there are a lot of steps! We liked the hotel’s character, a converted former noble man’s house with beautiful marble flooring throughout. Breakfast options are good.

The hotels rooms are varied & we were last minute bookers, so our room, although huge with a lounge & odd dining area downstairs,had the bed on a mezzanine level. We were fine but the open tread narrow stairs may not be suitable for others. There was a small bar area in the hotel but never manned or advertised- lost revenue- we would have loved a coffee or drink on occasions. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Lovely hotel and location with great views from the room. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Pool is fine but need to pick your times to visit as it got quite cool in the shade (end of September). Room was spacious and grand! Lots of charm.

Breakfast choice wasn't great and it would be better if the layout allowed guests to wander around and pick and choose at their leisure rather than having staff looking on, otherwise the Breakfast Room is something to behold. Arriving by car is a bit of a challenge as the street is narrow and very very steep!!!

The room was very spacious and has a lot of light with 2 balconies looking into the garden. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. The garden and pool were very well taken care of. Staff was attending.

The shower was a bit uncontrollable but otherwise all was great. The hotel is not on the most beautiful area of Ragusa (Ilba) and walking there takes 20 mins, but the area of the hotel is also very nice and calm.

The property was beautiful, convenient, and comfortable. The breakfast room had so much character and was very pretty. The pool was perfect after our long, hot days walking around Ragusa.

Both of our balconies had bird droppings that I had to sweep up. The floor in our room needed to be cleaned better, especially in the corners and under the desk. The toilets by the pool were dirty and needed attention.

Villa Del Lauro is a hidden oasis in Ragusa. The boutique style hotel has a lovely shady green garden with a pool . We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and you can even order poolside snacks and drinks. The staff were friendly, helpful and happy to assist at all times in particular Mattaeo who also gave us some excellent restaurant tips. The rooms are clean and simply appointed. The breakfast choices were excellent and the dining room was stunning. You won't be disappointed!

We were early in the season and the pool was not cleaned regularly so we could not use it during our short stay.

Beautiful room overlooking the garden and pool. Lovely pool, very refreshing. Good position between Ragusa Alta and Ibli. Staff friendly and very helpful.

Breakfast a bit limited. We initially had a room in the dependence which was rather small but it was no trouble to move us to a room in the main hotel which was bigger.
