After a last minute ferry cancellation we needed to find somewhere quick until we could leave IJmuiden - what a fantastic hotel! All staff were extremely courteous and helpful. We received a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast on check-in. The room was fantastic with a balcony overlooking the Marina. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Great breakfast buffet with plenty of choice and good coffee! Location near to the beach was also lovely and we have promised ourselves to return when the weather is better so we can make the most of its brilliant location. Just fabulous, thank you!

Nothing - it was all fab!

The room was excellent for a family, very spacious. The breakfast buffet was lovely and had a good selection. The location was nice, but very quiet at this time of year.

Unfortunately it was more difficult and more costly than we had anticipated to get into Amsterdam from here. There is the 382 bus, but this only goes to Sloterdijk, so we then had to take a train or the metro from there into Amsterdam. Both took time and cost quite a lot of money as we had to buy day passes when we were only doing one short return journey. And we discovered the buses back to IJmuiden aan Zee from Sloterdijk only ran every hour when you got into the evening.

Staff very welcoming and friendly, all with excellent English. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including a fabulous sea view. Facilities on site were very good, including a lovely restaurant, with really good sea food. The breakfast one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had. Staff were very knowledgable and helped us plan a day trip using public transport.

We stayed there as our ferry to Newcastle was cancelled for two days due to a storm and we’d rather have been heading home!

Excellent breakfast buffet (gets a bit crowded depending upon the time of arrival), room was nice, spacious - special bonus was the balcony with lake view - ignoring the car-parking :-( , location right at the beach is great for nature lovers - yet gets very crowded over weekends (proximity to Amsterdam).

WiFi quality is very bad - not to the standard of the hotel. Parking system (expensive) car-park should be for hotel guests only and day-visitors parking should be further off.

The staff were so welcoming, gave us valuable info on what to do on a free day (go to Haarlam, not Amsterdam). We had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. The food in the restaurant was great and the wait staff entertaining. We were so happy with our stay. If we take another HAL cruise out of Ijmuiden we will happily stay there again.

It would be helpful to have a shuttle service to the port. It is walking distance but not with suitcases and stairs.

Loved the room with balcony looking out over the Marina , comfort and space with good shower and nice touch of dog bowl, bed and ball confirming pet friendliness.

Dogs aren’t allowed in the extensive bar and restaurant area . This is understandable as there is an open kitchen in the area but there is only a very small area which dogs and their owners can use. Perhaps another layout could work better?

We stayed at this hotel for only one night, but we didn’t want to leave because everything was perfect there. At the reception we were met by a nice girl Julitta, we would like to say hello and words of gratitude to her, she is the person who knows her business. The breakfast was very filling and tasty, the staff was all hospitable and smiling, we will definitely come back here again.

We stayed here 4 years ago when it was the Apollo and weren't disappointed on our return this year. Just a 1 night stay to kill a day before getting the ferry back to Newcastle. Fantastic family room with balcony and marina view. Very spacious and comfortable. We ordered a meal via room service which was very good. Hotel bar/reception area has lovely furnishings and nice relaxed vibe. Husband made use of free access to sauna and gym. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Handy for Ijmuiden an Zee beach and less than 10 minutes drive to ferry terminal.

Can't fault anything about our stay. Balcony height perhaps a bit low??

Lovely location. Very friendly and helpful staff Nice bar. Didn’t try the restaurant. Excellent Chinese restaurant next door.

Paying for parking in gravel car park next door. We were on motorbikes. Some parts of the hotel need a little TLC but not a deal-breaker. A bit pricey.

The room was comfortable and had a fridge which was wonderful as it was very hot during our stay. The bed was very comfortable and we had a balcony with a lovely view.

The check in was a disappointment staff did not seem interested in us seemed we were too much trouble to her when we asked about dog beds which were not in our room as expected (We have been here before we know you get dog beds) She made out we had not let them know which was not the case. Charges for dogs expensive not really value for money.
