Location was excellent, right near shops and restaurants and walks along the river. Great access to the ferry and beaches.

Our room was not as well maintained as I would have expected for a Sofitel hotel and for the price we paid. Upon arrival the toilet had bits of faeces still floating in the water and needed to be flushed. This left a bad taste with us wondering how well did they actually clean the rest of the room and bathroom. The floor outside the bathroom and in the bathroom did not feel clean under bare feet. We left our room before 9.00am and didn['t return until after 1.00pm and our room was still not made up.

Friendly welcome from the concierge and reception staff, and we were able to check in earlier than expected. We had a large room overlooking the river with sunset views. Fabulous breakfasts and secure underground parking. Hastings Street is just out the door with all the shops and restaurants within an easy walk, including a bottle shop and minimart right outside. Pool area was beautiful and included bar service. Housekeeping was always completed efficiently and all staff we met in hallways greeted us with a smile and a hello.

We had some noise from repair works on the bridge but this was no fault of the hotel. Really nothing to dislike about the hotel

Felt very 5 star. We arrived early but parked the car and used the pool until our room was ready. Champagne on checkin. Amazing location, directly on hasting rd and access to the beach. The pool area was clean and good service and they provided free watermelon. They also attended our room before nightfall and left chocolates and lavender spray. These little things really made you feel you were staying in a true 5 star hotel

Only thing I hated was the pillows, they feel like airbags that deflate but that’s just a personal thing.

Pool service was extremely disappointing. I ordered one club sandwich and I was presented with two club sandwiches. When I explained to the staff member that I was on my own she said …well the tab shows two!!

The next day when I requested if I had been credited the answer was “no” however I would be credited accordingly. However, upon checking out, I noticed that I had been charged for the same club sandwich on the Sunday. I do not like dishonesty.

Breakfast was great and the pool area was fantastic. Loved the heated pool and the swim up bar. Free champagne on arrival was a nice touch. The turn down service was also excellent.

Overall for the price the facilities are in dire need of a renovation. The carpet was very old and faded, minor cracks in the bathroom. It looked very early 1990’s in comparison to some other 5 star resorts. We did have to request some more pillows as ours were too soft and it felt like we didn’t have any head support whatsoever.

The Sofitel is in a great location. It is close to the beach and surrounding cafes, restaurants, bars and local supermarket. The pool was heated and we got to enjoy the swim-up bar with the amazing weather we experienced.

We woke up to two fire alarms at 4-5 am on Saturday and Sunday. There was no further information on whether guests needed to evacuate. Our room was located on level 4 across from the ‘Guest’ laundry room (unsure if the same layout for other floors) and guests slamming doors which was frustrating when trying to sleep and enjoy a break. If planning to stay request to be away from high traffic areas.

The room, the housekeeping staff are really great! Efficient and so clean

The receptionist who admitted us in the front desk. She sounded like she’s second guessing herself and she didn’t speak much and she’s. not friendly. She could be French. She was so slow in processing our check in and I was busting. And I asked her where the restroom was and she said, the restaurant?? I said no the restroom/toilet and that’s the only time she was able to understand what I meant

Staff and facilities all first class (room decor a little dated but immaculately clean). The Beach House Restaurant was fabulous for dinner and breakfast and the floor and kitchen staff were all very professional and friendly.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas , Christmas carols sung by the hotel , canapés and cocktails the day we arrived . Fruit and refreshing towels around the pool side. DJ by the pool our last day. Amazing breakfast served by friendly attentive staff. Champagne and fruit platter in our room for our arrival - nothing too much trouble . Nice atmosphere around the pool side.
