Easy access from Aizuwakamatsu but still giving that feeling of isolation and peace. Large onsen bath, beautiful outside with the snow. Spacious room, smelling nicely of tatami. Nice variety of food options both for breakfast and dinner. Both days I could see some staples but also some new items. And all you can drink for dinner, so not bad! Very well stocked shop as well.

As always, the toilet/bathroom in the room is quite small but I guess that's because there's the big shared bath and shower rooms. Would be nice to see an outside facility for guests to admire the views around Higashiyama.

The room is clean and tidy. It is a sufficient for 3 of us. We had good time resting and watching TV in the room after dinner. As we travel by car, so the location is basically not a problem. There is onsen so we don't have to fight for the bathroom. The onsen is superb as well! Very comfortable and cozy after taking a hot bath! Probably only in the morning when we do our make-up, we might need to use the mirror a bit but with the large window and sunlight we are still able to complete the morning routine in the room. What we love the most is the FREE karaoke!!! We had a good time there! By the way, the amenities are fully equipped. There are makeup remover, face wash, cotton, moisturiser in the public onsen (women). Very convenient!

Without the car, it will be very difficult to get there.

We loved the arcade and selection of games. We found the music in the halls delightfully creepy in the best way. We found it very friendly. We also liked the breakfast buffet. We felt the bedding and pillows were very comfortable.

When we pulled in to park the small lot was full and the attendant actually laughed when we asked where we could park, didn't appreciate that, but they eventually worked it out. Also, the breakfast buffet, while good, was like a mad rush hour, no lines, no order, just chaos. The sink area was also not laid out well, with an odd angled step up that was easy to twist an ankle on. The only other thing is the gift shop only sold junk foods, I would have liked a more hearty food option for those of us who missed a meal or missed the dining times. Our major issue was that as westerners, we are larger than average and there was no robe or kimono that would fit us.

Was given a room with a good view of Aizuwakamatsu City. Room was quite big and price at Yen 9,100 including dinner and breakfast was value for money. Miss Sakai the receptionist provided excellent services and was very kind to explain all the hotel facilities patiently. Thank you.

Amazing buffet breakfast and dinner - all you can eat and drink (beer/sake etc). The staff were lovely, and room was spacious and comfortable. Onsen was excellent, especially enjoyed the outdoor bath!

Unfortunately if you arrive later you have to park down the road which is inconvenient, but the shuttle service was good!

Missing laundry service

The room was very large compare to the cost I paid. There is all I needed in the room; but some items we need to pick up from the front counter such as ropes, shower cap or other toiletries.

There is no ramp for big luggages, you need to hold them up and down the front stairs.

-Location: Higashiyama Onsen is a small hot springs town in general so the hotel is relatively close to the bus stop if you’re coming by public transportation. The public foot bath, tourist information center, Hagurosan Shrine, and the rustic Mukaitaki Ryokan are all within walkable distance. -Staff: While the hotel itself isn’t far from the bus stop, it’s a steep walk with luggage, especially in the snow. The hotel provides shuttle services to/from the nearby bus stops if you call. The staff at the front desk kindly explained everything about the property. I was also able to borrow an umbrella when I wanted to go outside for a walk around the town while it was snowing. -Value: As you can see from my pictures, the room was super spacious. I went with the half-board option and both meals were delicious (buffet style but with lots of local specialities). In addition to the hot springs (both indoor and outdoor) and other facilities, I think this hotel is a great value. -Family-Friendliness: While I traveled alone, the hotel is very family-friendly, with many facilities: a game corner, table tennis, vending machines, and lots of space in general. I was even invited by some guests to play table tennis with them! The atmosphere is really nice and I didn’t feel lonely at all during my stay.

Nothing in particular, everything was great! As Higashiyama Onsen is a very small town, I do recommend going with the half-board meal plan as there are only 2-3 restaurants in the area with very irregular hours. If you rely on public transportation, do confirm the bus times with the front desk or tourist information center because the bus is also irregular and sometimes doesn’t match the time table on the internet / apps.
