The location was great, 7-11 and a supermarket just around the corner, quite a few good local dining options very close, and not far to all the action, about 15 minutes to Tenjin, 5 minutes to riverain mall, 15 to canal city, 10 minutes to the port. Local area was fairly quiet at night which was great. The apartment is spacious with everything you need, and has an awesome large bathroom with a large bath.

The futons werent very comfortable, originally they gave us 1 but we asked for 2 to stack on top of each other which made it more comfortable but still not ideal. The pans in the kitchen were very worn, so while you could cook whatever you did cook would stick badly to the pan. There are no basic cooking amenities like salt/oil etc. We knew the apartment was Japanese style going in, but its not super comfortable sitting on the cushions on the floor, some chairs downstairs wouldn't go astray. Lots of light in the bedroom via the windows.

Room was clean and had many dining options nearby.

The toilet is on the ground floor and the bedroom is upstairs, and the stairs are a little steep. It is difficult for elderly to navigate especially at night. The toilet ventilation didn't seem to work well and some smell remained even after leaving the ventilation fan on for some time.

The Naraya-machi hotel (1 and 2 are next to each other) is our favourite family hotel in Fukuoka. It is well located: close to Nakasu-Kawabata station and two of the major avenues of the city while being quiet as it is situated in a small street surrounded by buildings. It is perfect if you have a young child since the bedroom is on the first floor while the main room with the television, a big table and the kitchen are on the first floor and since the two areas are separated by a door. The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious. It is perfect for cooking separate dishes. The fridge is big compared to the classical fridge size in Japanese hotels, The bathroom is spacious and modern. The bathtub can be controlled through a panel, and the area with the sink and washing machine is sufficiently spacious.

There are only two negative things about the property: (1)there is no separation between the main room and the entrance door, which means that during winter the area of the room that is close to the door can be quite cold. (2) There is no curtain in the bedrooms so the light is too strong for those who want to make their kids have a nap in the afternoon.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The high ceilings gave this apartment a great feeling of space. Good kitchen, nice big bedrooms, washing machine, The location is walking distance to the Port and the centre.

It would have been nice to have some glasses to drink from, and a washing rack to dry our clothes would have been helpful.

no curtain in the sleeping area, so it is hard for kids to keeping sleeping once the sun is up.

This is a terrific location with easy access to Tenjin and Hakata Old Town.

The non contact checkin was a little awkward, due to various English and Japanese messages, but we got there in the end.

Good location, comfy tatami and washer and dryer com

Lots of space for a family of four, we also booked the house next door for our extended family (of 3) so it was great having individual buildings in close proximity and with identical facilities. Having in house laundry (and space, racks to dry in the bathroom) was very much appreciated. Having tatami mats on both floors made it feel like a traditional Japanese home.

There was no communication from hosts about our check-in details or instructions for the keypad lock in advance of our booking. We were standing outside the house for an hour after our specified check in time waiting for responses from the remote host, not sure whether email or messages through booking.com were getting through. Ended up waiting for delayed (~10 to 30 min) responses from various anonymous (to us) staff eventually directing us to another website through which to pay an accommodation tax. After paying the extra fee (we knew from the listing that had to pay one, but was not told how much it would be in advance, nor how to pay it until we asked) the delays in responses from the host staff meant that we did not gain access to the house until hours after we arrived.

The smell of the decoration was very strong when I checked in and the sound insulation was not very good.
