Likes: Great breakfast buffet each morning and the Jura (bean to cup coffee) was da bomb; Location to Happo One (could walk or the hotel will gladly shuttle you there) plus Hakuba 47 and Goryu shuttle bus stops right in front of the hotel; Friendly and helpful owners (husband and wife) plus staff always ready to help and offer helpful suggestions; Ordered the hotel's custom hotpot in the morning for dinner later that night which was excellent and very delicious "oiishi"! The heated ski room is helpful as you can stash all your gear there each day and gear-up in the mornings to give you more space in your room. Bartender Jack was great and helpful to suggest local foodie spots and makes great craft cocktails nightly. On site Onsen and spa wonderful and very convenient after a day on the mountain.

Rooms can be tight so we booked a 3 bed for two guys and it was perfect; Add more spirits/mixers to enable the bartender to offer more common cocktails. If you go to see the snow monkeys and museum from Hakuba plan for a whole day of travelling to and from the park if you don't have a car.

Absolutely Amazing Stay – Feels Like Home! If you’re looking for the best home away from home accommodation in Hakuba with five-star hospitality, this is the place to stay! From the moment we arrived, Monica and Keita went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They are the most genuine, caring hosts who truly love what they do, and it shows in every little detail. Nothing was ever too much trouble—whether it was early morning drop-offs, late-night pick-ups, or just helping us plan our days on the slopes. Their kindness and hospitality made our trip unforgettable. And the breakfast? Simply the best! Fresh, delicious, and the perfect start to a day in the mountains. The entire staff are just as wonderful—friendly, helpful, and always ready with a smile. This place has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it felt like a home away from home. If you’re visiting Hakuba, do yourself a favor and stay here. We can’t wait to come back!

The Hakuba Yamano hotel and staff were awesome! The breakfast was delicious and very filling before a day on the slopes. I tore my ACL while skiing and was on crutches for half of our stay; the staff could not have been more kind and accommodating for my situation. They picked us up and dropped us off wherever we wanted to go and they were super helpful for booking reservations at restaurants around town. The hotel is in a great location being a few minute walk from the ski lift and has great access to tons of great restaurants and cute shops in the town. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great hotel just outside the main Happo area- walking distance to majority of shops and restaurants (even with a toddler) although the shuttle service was handy at times. Easy walk with gear to the Nakiyama chair lift and kids park. Very helpful and friendly owners who go the extra mile to ensure you have a great stay. Excellent buffet breakfast. On site Onsen was very nice and relaxing.

Only minor, but breakfast only beginning at 7.30am was a bit late for us with a kid and those wanting to hit the slopes early. The location just outside town might not suit everyone, but we loved it.

It was obvious that property was well taken care of and that cleanliness is the main priority. Room was a great size with typical Japanese bathroom. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and staff was extremely kind, and helpful. Monica's knowledge of English was much appreciated as we encountered language barrier earlier during this travel in different hotels. What I liked the most is that it seems like hotel was ran by family and that fact itself made my stay more enjoyable. Staff also helped us with shipping our luggage and they transported us to bus station at 6am! My husband and I look forward to coming back!

Small onsen, but it was still nice!

The breakfast items were great, and the staff was attentive. The onsite onsen was perfect after a day of snowboarding. The hotel also provided shuttle service to the bus stop and is located near the bus stop for all the resorts in Hakuba. The hotel staff also helped scheduled a pickup for our snowboards as well.

The bathroom did have a distinct odor. Most likely from the cleaning solution used.

My friend and I had an amazing stay at the Yamano Hotel! The owners and all the staff were so friendly, we've never had a more positive experience with hotel staff than at the Yamano Hotel. The rooms and facilities were great, with clean rooms with great mountain views, an Onsen spa that's never too crowded, and a restaurant that serves free breakfast. It's also a <5 minute walk to the lifts of the Happo One mountain, but they also offer a free shuttle which is super convenient. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Hakuba!

Very clean and cosy hotel, with traditional Japanese experience. Delicious breakfast buffet and great dinner restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff, English speakers, who provided everything for us, including rent of ski equipment and ski lessons in the most convenient way. There are also a ski equipment room, massage chairs and even an onsen inside the hotel! It was a great family experience for us!

Exceptional facilities, big room, in-suite bathroom. Onsen is just amazing. Hotel manager and his wife’s help and local recommendations were really helpful.

15 minute walk away from the nearest restaurant, but a close walk to Nakiyama Slope and lift makes up for that. Fair trade off I would say. I’m here to ski, and the food in hotel’s restaurant is top-notch anyway.

The staff. The owners could not have done more to ensure that our stay was good. Shuttle bus, ski school and ski equipment support were particularly helpful. Outstanding is how I would describe their service. Cleanliness. The decor is old but the hotel and the linen is spotless.

The hotel needs updating which does not provide the best first impression. The location is out of Happo so be prepared to walk. The shuttle bus helps hugely but compared to other hotels, it is quite isolated.
