We loved this place!! The staff was so kind and helpful! They helped us book activities and even were able to loan us some snorkeling gear for the day. We also really appreciated their flexibility when we had to arrive a day late due to a tsunami warning which cancelled all transport. The location is beautiful (amazing view!!!) and the pool and outdoor onsen was so lovely! We loved the poolside bar in the evening and the breakfast was incredible.

We loved our stay, but the room itself was pretty basic and a bit dated. For the price, we were expecting it to be a bit nicer. Also the hotel had a washing machine but no dryer, which was a bit inconvenient. However there are coin laundry places in town if you’re in a pinch.

We had two rooms for our family of five adults. The ocean view suite was exceptional - from the wonderful view to the really comfortable beds to the fresh and practical bathroom, we couldn't fault it. There was plenty of room for the three of us sharing it. We liked the convenience of the little kitchen for storing and preparing simple meals for the two mornings that we didn't have breakfast and the evening that we ate 'in' (thanks to 7-11 prepared meals). Our second room was an older style one on the back side of the property (twin) While dated, it was pleasant for the cheaper rate. We all had breakfast in the dining room on two of our four mornings - a delicious and well rounded breakfast. The lounge and dining areas were accessible and comfortable, our group enjoying time playing pool on the mini table and relaxing on the couch. The weather wasn't fabulous for using the wonderful outdoor area however we did make use of the private baths every evening. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Thank you for making this holiday so pleasant and relaxing for us. Gardenvilla Shirahama is a lovely property, perfect for both a relaxing break and sightseeing on the peninsula (with use of car).

We were disappointed that the bar didn't open at all during our 4 night stay. Also note, the private baths are delightful but not natural hot spring fed onsen.

The point of this hotel is not the fabulous view, the best breakfast since we got to Japan, the private onsen with, again, the view, the lovely pool or proximity to the beach. It's the vibe. The people running this place are simply great. They gave us a very rare glimpse of life well lived, in a country very far away from our own. An obviously home cooked ramen at night, making sure we got to the right route when hiking, finding us a good local restaurant - service in Japan is always good, but this was delivered in a laid back and genuinely caring way. Is it the surfers' way? I don't know. But we left relaxed, and we'd love to come back.

We were travelling Japan for two weeks , and we very happy to take a break from japanese summer heat and stay 4 nights at this beautiful place. The host are very aviable and always helpfull. Although its remote location we were very mobile discovering the peninsula with rental e- bikes from the villa. Everything was perfectly clean like always in japan, and we were positively suprised how many dinneroptions we had. We had the BBQ, Villas chef seafood, and went with the e-bikes to the near place Shimoda were you have many very good fresh Sashimi restaurants - everything was very good, and very reasonable Price. In the price included was a very large and very delicious Breakfast included, only thing we regretted we didn’t take a room with a seaview, but anyway ww had many other places arround the hotel.

Gardenvilla is a lovely comfortable homely place to stay with warm friendly staff.The rooms are a little older but the are very comfy.Thr bed was one of the most comfortable we stayed in on our trip.There is a recent addition of a modern sauna,private outdoor hot pool and large outdoor pool.I could imagine it as a great place to return to often

it is a little distance from town and the beach so it would be best if you had a car Thr see by driveway turning out is very challenging l

The property was so lovely with stunning views. Very very clean and so comfortable. They have thought of everything you need. The onsen was just out of the world. It was out in the open overlooking the sea and felt very tropical. The breakfast was so delicious. I wish we could have stayed longer. Both the receptionist were so kind and helpful. Ai, thank you for all your help with our issues. I highly recommend this place for a very beautiful experience. Thank you again.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Gardenvilla Shirahama. The staff were incredibly friendly (and spoke very good english). The facilities, including two different outdoor onsen, a pool, and a lovely lounge were tranquil places to recover and recuperate from 2 weeks of travel. The first night, we realized that we had to book the BBQ dinner at least 1 day in advance, and took the recommendation for a nearby restaurant. The restaurant (Ueno Yamitae) was one of our favorite meals during our entire 3 week trip in Japan. The next day we rented e-bikes from the Gardenvilla Shirahama and explored Shimoda and the surrounding area before retiring to the hotel for the outdoor BBQ dinner, drinks in the hotel lounge, and a soak in their lovely outdoor onsen. It was one of the best days of our entire trip.

The infinity pool at Gardenvilla is fantastic, perfect for snapping some great photos. The hotel's prime location, just a 12-minute drive to Shimoda Park and Perry Road, makes it ideal. Plus, dinner at Gardenvilla offers excellent value for money. The ocean view from the hotel is incredibly relaxing.

The room, mattress, and sofa are a bit dated. Unfortunately, during my stay, there was no hot water in the bathroom, so we had to go to another room to shower. The reservation-only onsen has no view at night, so it's best to enjoy it before it gets completely dark.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at this gorgeous boutique hotel, to celebrate our silver anniversary. Quite simply it surpassed all our expectations - whilst the rooms are slightly tired, in need of fresh coat paint, new carpet etc, the decor is classy and timeless and rooms very clean. The bed was large and comfortable and the view from the room breathtaking. The day started with a scrumptious hot breakfast, consisting of warm bread rolls, yoghurt, eggs, fresh fruit, coffee and juice and then when you thought you couldn't possibly eat any more, freshly made pancakes are brought to your day. Like the sea view apartments, the dining room/bar also has stunning ocean views. The day ended with a private open air bath....really it doesn't get much better - sheer bliss. The hotel owners/employers were charming and accommodating and seem like genuinely good people who enjoy what they do. They should be very proud of the quality of service they provide. We were also grateful that we could communicate in English which was very helpful to us. Free parking and WiFi also available. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will no doubt see you again.

The place is an ideal spot for a relaxing stay - it is beautifully located (the views are stunning!) and everything is perfectly arranged so that you can enjoy your holidays. There is an outdoor onsen (to be used privately by room), a swimming pool, a cosy lobby inside, electric bikes for rental etc. Add to that good breakfasts, exquisite dinners (to be ordered in advance) and very welcoming hosts and staff! Definitely a recommended place!
