The location is amazing- on a beautiful beach. The hotel was planned by the architect Kisho Kurokawa who also planned the capsule tower and the national art center in Tokyo. This hotel is well planned and beautifully preserved. All rooms and the Onsen have ocean view and the hotel lets you know when the sunrise is expected. The breakfast was amazing! I highly recommend booking it. The hotel provides a shuttle to the nearest train station which is also a walking distance to Shimoda park. We stayed in early June and were able to visit the park during hydrangea festival, which we really enjoyed. So although the beach is quite secluded the shuttle connects you to more activities in shimoda town. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and I’d be happy to stay longer.

The rooms could benefit from a renovation. They were really clean but seemed outdated. During our stay the sushi restaurant and the bar weren’t operating so there were no options to have dinner outside of the hotels restaurant. I think it could’ve really upgraded our stay if the shuttle services would’ve operated during more hours to enable you visit shimoda town for dinner too.

A very good hotel with access to a beach behind and a great Onsen inside. The room is very spacious and with all required facilities. All rooms are with ocean view. The onsen is very good and open almost the whole day (except noon 11.00 to 13.00 and late night 0.00 to 04.30)

The location is bit away from Shimoda and moving around is tough if you don't have your own transport. The restaurants nearby close very early and open very late and hence you have to eat from the hotel all the time. As a tourist, i wanted to try out local cafes and eateries.

My family loved the beach and the ocean view from our room that we had and the view from the breakfast restaurant as well. The kids play room was pretty good and it was a big space for them to play in. Our room was super spacious for normal size rooms in Japan. The staff was super friendly and always willing to help us so appreciated that.

Not a lot not too like. Probably the breakfast options could be better. Felt like we had the same breakfast every morning, but it did taste delicious. A little bit too outdated in terms of the interior designing but didn't really bother us as we enjoyed the beach and were outside the hotel more.

The location is perfect, just a short walk down to the clean beach where we spent many hours soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful ocean views. One of the highlights of our stay was the onsen, which offered breathtaking views of the ocean and a serene and rejuvenating experience. It was the perfect way to unwind and relax after a day of exploring the area. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfy beds that ensured a restful night's sleep. Overall, our stay at this hotel was nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect combination of beachside relaxation, excellent service, and top-notch amenities.

We had a ground floor room with a small terrace, which was very convenient for the beach. Having a small tatami area was very convenient with young kids. The access to the beach is fantastic! Best part of this hotel. Felt that the dinner buffet was overpriced with no other options. Breakfast buffet was good quality.

Downside of the room was that it was very close to the dining room so we could see people (and people going down the steps to the beach) - so privacy wasn't 100%. Parts of the hotel seem a bit old and tired (e.g. bathroom)

Our room was very comfy and so close to the beach! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very extensive and delicious. The breakfast buffet one of the best yet! Location was good - close to Shimoda City yet private and quiet with its own beach. Excellent parking facilities.

The beds were very hard. We had to add extra comforters. Also, we would have liked a bar overlooking the ocean for late afternoon/evening snacks and drinks! Need a place to lounge after a long day of walking and site seeing. Our patio would have been perfect, but it was cold and rainy out!

It was a lovely stay, the room was very spacious and the view from them were absolutely stunning. They provided free shuttle service from the station to the hotel, and the, staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Direct beach access, onsen and a play area for kids.

The rooms are outdated. Dining options within the vicinity are lacking. Hope they can add complementary coffee as well.

Great beach

It’s been our fourth time. While we love the location&staff the amenities and interior needs a clear update and reform. Very old bathrooms. Scars at the walls. Fainted paint. Old capets. There is a clear need of reforming the whole building and rooms. Also the pool needs a new color, tiles etc. If Shimoda Prince would invest into a whole upgrade with a stylish infinity pool looking over the ocean, some more restaurants, bars and a modern interior and room designs it could be a stunning resort.

The Ocean front view and the hotspring were fantastic and unforgettable. Waking up with the peaceful view of sunrise over the ocean through the bedroom window was the BEST! The Breakfast was to die for, so many options and everything was delicious, including fresh fruits & salad. Can’t beat the experience and value. Wish we had more time to enjoy the Resort and beautiful private beach! Staff was most helpful and courteous!

It has a great sandy beach below and it is ideal for all especially surfers. The room was very large offering fantastic views out to sea and down to the beach. There is a hotel shuttle bus taking us to Shimoda but we also caught a local bus not far from the hotel.

Although the whole place offered a great feel good factor with its views, bedroom sizes, excellent breakfasts, it’s external and internal decor is a bit tired and would certainly make a vast improvement if this was improved.
