The room was beautiful and of course having our own onsen on our balcony overlooking the forest was incredible. The most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. The hotel's shuttle service into town throughout the day meant we could arrange our stay without needing to hire a car which was another bonus. Tip: we purchased prepared meals from supermarket in town every day and heated them up in the hotel's Center House microwaves so we could enjoy dinner every night in out gorgeous room.

Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, not everyone speaking perfect English but definitely going the extra mile to explain themselves and make sure we had all our questions answered. Our room was just amazing, beautiful Japanese style room with tatami, with a terrace facing mount Fuji and a private onsen. Everything was spotless clean. Breakfast was in the main building of the resort (5 minute walk from our room) and included both japanese and western options - good choice overall, and nice room. Dinner was also nice, with menu changing everyday and good selection. Overall, it was an amazing experience for us. Please note that the same resort has different accommodations and different structures: we were staying at the Sanshisuimei, which is great, but if you read reviews somewhere else they may refer to other (cheaper) options.

First: the place is literally on top of a mountain and in the woods. They have shuttle busses going up and down and to move within the resort, but I really would NOT advise anyone coming here without a car (which we had). Then, when you arrive (at least in winter) the resort can appear a bit spooky: it's a huge resort with different buildings, sport facilities etc.: while the whole place is clean and well maintained, some buildings are not being actively used and appear old...and some have strong 70s vibes. But don't let the first impression get you! Getting to the reception building was not exactly easy, but we managed!

The room is spacious, well designed, comfortable, and the private onsen that comes with the room is an absolute bonus. The hotel is located away from the touristic areas, in a highly exclusive hill top with ample greenery. We visited during the cherry blossom season and the scenery is one of the best in the region.

Communication before arrival could be more clear. I reached out to the hotel to learn about the check-in location since it is a large compound. Would be good if hotel can provide 'do not disturb' and 'make up room' signs for placing at the door so hotel guests can better manage housekeeping hours.

The views, the onsen on the balcony. It was so nice to sit there after a long day of sightseeing. It is a great location to explore the Izu peninsula from. Make sure to book the room with Mountain View. You will have an amazing view on Mount Fuji.

The food was too expensive, not the best quality we had inJapan and you can only order a set menu. You have to book the dinner in advance. I recommend eating elsewhere. There are lot of nice little restaurants in the villages below. Breakfast was finished at 9.15. That’s too early when guests arrive from all over the world who might have a jet lag.

The room types were a little confusing. We had 3 rooms, 1 of it ended up to be at a different block. The blocks have 2 levels, both the rooms upstairs and downstairs have a flight stairs hence it is inconvenient for us — parents with 2 young kids — to carry the luggages & children up/down to the rooms. Check in/out is also a drive away from the blocks. Staffs were not very welcoming/friendly at check in/out. Not sure if it was due to language barrier. Not an issue for us as we didn’t need anything extra. Overall the rooms are comfy and clean, with enough space for our family. We set up the tatami beds for our kids which was great. Plenty of space for luggages and a baby stroller as well.

The dinner was excellent. The variety was good and each dish was well-cooked. We were also allowed to use the public path in Marriot. Alternatively, we could also use the private onsen in our room.

The flight of stairs that we needed to climb up and down to our room. It was unfortunate that my parent wasn't very mobile and our luggage were rather heavy too.

Beautiful, large room in traditional style, delicious breakfast and dinner menu, helpful and professional staff, view on the Mount Fuji (upon request), beautiful onsen in building 9 with lots of care products.

- Standards change a lot according to the hotel you’ll stay in within the resort. Stay at la forêt Shuzenji *sanshisuimei* only (not laforet shuzenji). I haven t seen rooms at the Marriott but the building felt more like a hotel than ryokan. - Restaurant + lobby are about a 7min walk from the rooms. There is a free shuttle service on demand in case you didn’t want to walk but takes a bit of planning.

The hotel is perfect for a short stay in nature to relax after intense city trips. We had a room with view on Mount Fuji and a private onsen which was perfect. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were so quiet and inviting to relax to the maximum. The location is a bit far from everything but with the free shuttle service we could easily explore the surroundings. It is relatively expensive but for 2 nights we got the maximum out of our stay :)

The main building where the breakfast buffet is and the other buildings with the gym and onsen seemed a bit old but this is just a minor thing. We still enjoyed our stay very much.

Location! This is a remote country club-style resort that is tucked on a mountain, away from the town. When you wake up, you’re surrounded by views on every side. Our room had a crystal clear view of Mt Fuji and the resort’s golf course. The remoteness of the location is compensated by the fact that the resort offers a free shuttle bus both inside the resort (from facility to facility) and to/from the resort and Shuzenji station. Really loved it, it felt like pure luxury to be away from everyone.

Nothing, we loved every bit of our stay.

The room was very spacious, even with 4 adults sharing one space. View of Mt Fuji can also be seen on a clear day. The outdoor private onsen was very nice for a little soak after a long day of travels.

The location of the hotel is a bit further than expected, there is a long and windy drive from the hotel to the main road which takes about 10 mins each way. There is no clear room partitions so privacy amongst the group could be an issue.
