This is the third time I have stayed at M104 Guesthouse. It fills all my needs - clean, warm showers, soft bed, a kitchen, and close to ferry, bus, and streetcar transportation in Kagoshima. It is also close to a Nishimuta fullscale grocery store where I can buy food and cook it in the kitchen if I am staying more than one night. Also close to the Tempozan eating district. I have stayed at other places in Kagoshima, and this is my go-to place. When it is full I am disappointed as it is the best place for the money that I have found in Kagoshima.

The check-in is automated; I have never met staff here. I always try to enter my booking reservation number or pin to check in, and get stymied. The correct checkin password is my name with no spaces and all lower case. It usually takes me about ten minutes to figure this out. Hopefully, my having written this here will remind me the next time I try to check in. And, I wish the toilets had washlet seats that were warm in the winter. These are minor inconveniences.

I liked this place! The owner is flexible, the rooms are confortable, and there is a good space for work or study on the second floor. Also the location is not too far from the city center. This place is a good choice regarding value for money. P.S. There is an elevator (from the second floor)

Could be more clean. Also, the living room was a bit smelly (fried food) and a bit noisy sometime, so I studied on the second floor.

The location and value for our money was amazing. We stayed in Kagoshima to visit sakurajima, and where able to walk to the ferry terminal within 10 minutes.

The building is older, and the room was not super clean. The self check-in process was also very unclear and it took a while to figure it out.

Breakfast is available at a separate establishment on the first floor. I didn't eat it. I was glad to have a bed that was not a bunk bed. Although it was cold outside, the guest house was warm. There is a Nishimuta supermarket and the Kagoma Onsen sento within easy walking distance. This guest house is also very close to the streetcar stop at Asahidori and to the tenmonkan shopping district.

The guest refrigerator was small. There was no washlet on the men's toilet on the third floor

The single room was better than expected. I was expecting to have a shared bathroom, but there was a small bathroom with toilet and sink. A bath tub was there but with no shower outlet. You also have filtered views of the harbour and Sakura volcano from the room.

You need to go down to Level 3 from Level 6 to have a shower.

Quiet, budget stay in Kagoshima. Located well in the city (close to a tram stop, airport limousine bus nearby, easy access to Sakurajima), Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean.

The wifi was quite slow and there was no bug screen on the window. I arrived quite late at night and the only towel remaining still had a number of long hairs on it from the previous owner.

Staff were very friendly and let me check in a little early as I had just spent 24 hours flying, then another 10 hours walking around Kagoshima, so I was quite tired. The location is fantastic, with a 5-minute walk to the Sakurajima Ferry.

My room was fine. The blanket cover did have a stain on it, but that's okay. A bigger pillow would have been nice, too.

Self-check-in was very convenient. The room was much more spacious than I expected, and it was very clean. The value for the room is also unmatched for the location -- and speaking of which, Sakurajima and Kagoshima City Aquarium are both a stone's throw away.

Not too much. No bidet. It's 200 yen for a bath towel, but that's par for the course for a guesthouse. I guess it was a little old (plus the light switch on my side didn't work, only my friend's), but for the price, can't complain at all.

Nice open-minded hostel flair. Comfortable futon on Tatami mats. Big common room and well-equipped common kitchen. Good location. Easy and well explained self check-in via laptop at the reception. Possibility to store luggage. We only stayed for one night so I can´t say much more.

The room has a sliding door which opens and closes automatically. It takes some time for it to close so that can interfere with your privacy.

Good location and nice price for some time in the city. Easy and reasonably priced parking nearby. Within walking distance to several good tourist places.

The people in our shared room didn't respect the quiet hours and the building was doing construction in the early afternoon. Both, I think, were just bad luck.
