Compared to Sheratons I've stayed in in other countries, this one is especially luxurious, with a large room and a big comfortable bed. The hotel onsen is very pleasant with an outside section (though no view because it faces a main road). There is a choice of restaurants - I ate at Satsumagma which was outstandingly good.

I didn't have breakfast at the hotel because the restaurant was so busy that people had to queue outside. I had a "Sakurajima view" room but this turned out to be a waste of money as the volcano was shrouded in cloud for all three days that I stayed.

Sheraton Kagoshima exceeded expectations in every way. The room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering spectacular views of Sakurajima. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom felt like a mini spa. I especially enjoyed the breakfast at the café in the lobby. It had a relaxed, elegant atmosphere and served a beautifully presented à la carte menu with fresh, high-quality ingredients—perfect for a slower, more peaceful start to the day. The onsen facilities were another highlight—soaking in the hot spring bath with a view of the volcano was unforgettable. Staff were professional, kind, and attentive throughout my stay. Although the hotel is slightly outside the central area, it’s easy to get around via tram or taxi, and the quiet location makes it feel more like a resort retreat.

It would be great if the hotel offered a more frequent shuttle service.

Location was a bit out of town So a lot of walking or trams No laundry facilities in the hotel Use local laundromat across the street behind Family Mart

We loved everything about this hotel. Our room was beautiful and we were upgraded to a room with a view of the volcano. The spa was lovely. All the staff were very welcoming and polite. Shuttle bus every half hour to and from Kagoshimachuo train station and conveniently located next to a tram stop.

We struggled to find the bus pick up point at the train station. It’s not at the public bus station. The staff in the tourist office directed us to the correct place.

Absolutely adored the Onsen. It was the first time in my life I’d ever used one and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Cafe at reception was open early and we enjoyed the friendly staff at breakfast and lunch. Availability to the tram and Hotel shuttle was excellent. The supermarket right next door was a bonus too! Excellent soundproofing in the room didn’t hear any outside noise!

Buffet Breakfast cost was too high for us as we don’t have a huge meal. Cafe at reception coffee size was small and only Marmalade offered for the croissants was disappointing. At least one more option would be nice.

To summen it up, our 4 day stay at the Sheraton Kagoshima was nothing but outstanding. People in Japan are friendly, but the staff at the Sheraton went beyond being friendly. Every single person in this building, from the person helping you out of your taxi, the reciptionists, the waitresses at the cafe, the concierge service, the restaurant staff to the cleaning staff seems to be the most friendly and helpful person you ever met. And they seem to read your mind when you need something and do it before you even dared to ask. The rooms were outstanding. Lots of space, a huge window, tons of power outlets and USB ports, big TV, comfy and huge beds, a modern bath with as much hot water as you want, a great toilet and a view of the volcano to die for. The breakfast was the best we had in over 10 hotels in Japan. Mixing japanese and western cuisine, with as many freshly made omlets as you could eat, bread, salad, rice dishes, soups to warm dishes and whatnot, we basically rolled out of the restaurant after breakfast and didn’t eat anything until dinner. We ate dinner in two different restaurants the hotel has to offer, and the food here was amazing as well. The grill restaurant offers great meat and fish dishes and has a fantastic view over the city from the top floor of the building. The Japanese restaurant located on the 4th floor offered a fantastic hot bowl with fresh ingredients and the best meat we had in a long time. Thanks for making our stay in Kagoshima an outstanding experience!

Very nice employees, with an excellent level of English. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. They give the hotel a very elegant and classy feel. The establishment itself is gorgeous. Very modern and well thought out interior design. The views of Sakurajima are unreal. I felt like sitting in my room with those views was a relaxing vacation in itself. I also really enjoyed the various options for lighting in the room. There’s a relax mode that dims all of the lights in the room, I quite enjoyed that. There are also both black out blinds and shade to help make you as comfortable as possible. Then there is the spa and onsen that also have a very stunning and relaxing ambiance. There’s nice music playing in the background that I also really enjoyed. The body soap and lotion they offer in both the room and the onsens were very high quality, I’d honestly buy them to have them in my home. They smell good and leave your skin feeling extra soft. Everything was also very clean and seemed brand new, as if it had never been used before. The front desk was also nice enough to book me a cab in the morning on my way out, as the shuttle service to the bus station does not start until 10 AM. Lastly the location is quite convenient. There’s a tram directly across from the hotel as well as a supermarket immediately next door. It was very easy to get drinks and other items such as their sushi platters (which I highly recommend) to bring up to my room. If you want to relax in style and feel like a king or queen for some days, I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to book!

Everything was really excellent and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to relax in Kagoshima - worth every penny to pay for the Sakurajima view.

The Daily Social restaurant is not good value for money and was really the only negative thing about the hotel. Service was slow (plates weren’t cleared unless asked) and food was okay which is a shame as everything else at the hotel was amazing.

We book 2 rooms for our family and I'm elated to find they offered us a connecting room, which makes things much more convenient for us. The staff are exceedingly helpful. Every one I met has good command of English. The buffet breakfast was amazing. Just a reminder though, one better be early to go for breakfast so you don't need to wait in line for entry. Rooms, facilities, footpath, spring bath, everything is so good!

Not exactly a 'dislike' but would like the hotel to offer shower gown or yukata for us to go to the spring bath. Location isn't the most convenient (although it certainly offers a great view of Sakurajuma).

I have booked this hotel just for the view, and I was not disappointed. Few of the staff members did speak English which is huge plus, I did ship my suitcases to different hotel and they helped me with all of this. You can buy day pass at the hotel which was amazing. Also huge plus was the fact that they do offer the lift to Kagoshima station and back. Their breakfast is to die for. The location is super nice too the tram station is just next to the hotel.
