Location of Kamenoi is very good but only if you are driving (you should be when exploring Aso anyway). It's a 15-20min drive to the attractions like the crater or Cuddly Dominion where you can take a helicopter ride to view the crater. Onsite parking is plentiful. Wanted to thank the staff for leaving a bag of resupply amenities outside of our room since we kept the do not disturb sign on - many other properties wouldn't care to so this was a lovely touch.

The hotel facilities are dated but definitely sufficient for a comfortable stay. Breakfast and dinner consisted of the same spread so take note if you are staying more than 1 night.

Good value onsen hotel with half board. Good facilities, quality room. Food at breakfast and dinner are sufficiently good quality. Helpful staff members with the exception of one.

One staff member at the buffet station reprimanded me for taking extra beef slice when I am sharing it with my wife. I only got 3/4 slice in my bowl. Feel like the staff was imposing a war time ration on food. Felt belittle and offended especially we were on a happy holiday. Will pay 5,000 yen for that extra slice if have to.

Big open field for children to run around and play. You are free to help yourselves with the balls ,rackets and remote control toy cars. Room was spacious and we enjoyed the good buffet dinner and breakfast. The hotel also gave discount vouchers to be used at the souvenir shop.

The only setback was one of the two bath area was under renovation and guests will need to take turns to use the onsen.

It is a very nice hotel. I stayed in the Kumamon room style. It was so cute. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style.

In the morning, there was an announcement in Japanese, so I had to use translate. It was fire alarm, but many guests didn’t leave the room because they didn’t know what happened. I rushed to 1st floor, but actually it was false alarm. This disturbed our rest time. Therefore, the hotel should’ve announcement in English.

Facilities around the hotel has lots of variety for families. My kids love golfing area. And the big lawn for multipurpose use. We chose Kumamon room. It is new and cute. Food is good with lots of variety. Ramen at night is delicious. Hotel has washing machine but dryer took more than hour to dry even only 8-10 pcs of clothes.

Onzen is very old. The hotel switch Men and Women everyday. lol It is quite new to me.

The room are in good conditions. The stuff are super friendly the store on ground level offers good items as well. Specialty here are the Breakfast and Dinner Buffet, good options are available!

I assume you will need a car to get to this hotel. But there are more than enough parking lots available in front of the hotel. Onsen is a bit outdated but clean and okay.

Amazing onsens (some outside), very relaxing atmosphere in the garden, perfect for a mountain retreat. There’s a free shuttle to Aso station and back every day.

It’s far from any convenient store if you don’t have a car. Far from the city. The staff is very rude and not welcoming at all from the moment they know that you don’t speak japanese. Maybe they should review this issue before opening a hotel, which by definition is made for welcoming tourists:)

Breakfast and dinner was exceptional: great buffet choice and the dining staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel supplied a choice of Yukata robes for the onsen which was quite special. There were food and robes also for children.

Bathroom needs updating - tired and old with a shower curtain that made the whole area smell.

Good variety and quality of food, cater for different nationality of preference, good location of the restaurant, can enjoy the scenery during meal, the staff are really nice

Suggestion, have the coffee machine on after the breakfast time will be helpful for customers whom like to have a hot beverage during the cold weather

Very nice location with a view onto the mountainside and nature. Service and staff were excellent. Food / buffet had many options and high quality. Big onsen (I had tatami room with shared bathroom). Free shuttlebus between Aso Station and Hotel.

Rooms are a bit old style and might need some renovations.
