•Every staff member was extremely friendly. •The buffet breakfast was probably my favorite as they serve amazing Japanese dishes (there are some Western food as well). They serve seasonal fruits and veggies, so you really do get to experience authentic Japanese breakfast. •The hotel is a 20-minute walk from Kiyomizudera temple •30 seconds walk to the train station •If you still have a lot of energy, you can walk beside the river and walk to Nishiki Market (if I remember, it's less than 20 minutes' walk. •The neighborhood was also amazing if you liked walking around, especially going to the Gion District.

If you’re looking for a Japanese hotel experience with excellent cost value (minus the “bathtub”) … you’ll truly appreciate Abest. Everything you “really need” is there for you: a minimalist yet elegant design, really comfortable room ( bed and shower), kind/polite/helpful and efficient staff (front desk, dining area, room attendants), a truly delicious Japanese breakfast, great location … and all of this at half the price of any other nearby hotels. guaranteed quiet nights are more important than a room with a view? Ask for a room located at the back of the hotel … it was just fantastic. We love this hotel so much that it was our third time going. Enjoy!

Location! 2 min walk to train station that gets you to the main attractions. Walking distance to Kiyomizu-dera & east walk to Gion district. Nice view of street life below. Basic amenities & good to have breakfast available that early in morning (albeit not the greatest). Shower was amazing!

Many marks on walls & what looked like ink splattered throughout toilet area. Quite small room - we didn’t have any big suitcases but I don’t know where you would put them if you do. Small bathroom. Hot breakfast foods were served cold. I saw the chef kept opening the lids on the Bain-Marie’s if someone closed them. Limited pastries. Eggs extremely runny.

They have a very varied japanese breakfast (that's the reason why we booked it) and you can serve as many times as you want. Very delicious! But be careful, because they don't have many options if you don't like the japanese style. Excellent location, you have the train station in the corner, family mart and lawson in front of the hotel and next to those stores there's a restorant where you can try the famous unagi and the price is very good. The staff was very friendly, they helped us get a taxi when we left. The hotel itself very beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend it

The beds were really comfortable, and the staff, especially Chiaki were very friendly and super helpful. Chiaki did her best to help us with both finding restaurants and with issues we had with an Amazon delivery and was very patient and friendly. The location is about 15 minutes walk away from Pontocho street and that was convenient.

The rooms were organized a bit weird but we moved the beds a little and it ended up being fine. The location was a bit weird because you needed two separate train lines to reach Kyoto station, but we managed to make it work.

The hotel was 1 min away from the closest station and very easy to find. It is convenient to access popular attractions in Kyoto, with convenient stores, drug store, cafe & restaurants near by. A stone throw away was the river where you can take a stroll or rent a bicycle to ride & enjoy the serene view. I was lucky to get a twin room upgrade with two beds even though I was traveling alone. The room was clean and designed fitting with Kyoto. Everything you need including safe, fridge, air purifier & humidifier can be found inside the room. Extra amenities are available to be picked up / rented free of charge at the lobby in case you have forgot any toiletries. Also, the bathroom with the two shower head options was divine and I’ve had the best shower in Japan here. The service was excellent from check in to check up. The gentlemen who checked me in explained everything clearly and even guided me all the way until I entered the elevator with a bow. Upon check out, the staffs walked to the entrance and thanked me as I departed. A little hand warmer was gifted to me with “happy new year :)” written on it to keep me warm in the cold weather. I left with a smile and my heart filled with warmth. I would definitely recommend Hotel Abest if you are looking to stay in Kyoto at this price range. I would love to stay again if I were to visit the area in the future. Ps. Breakfast was also delicious and has plenty of choices from Kyoto style small dishes, western breakfast fares & drink bar.

1) Great location in the Higashiyama region of Kyoto. Walking distance to Sannenzaka and Ninnenzaka, Kodai Ji Temple, Kiyomizudera, Gion Starbucks and Hokan Ji Temple 2) Decently sized room by Japanese standards 3) Very clean 4) Near Kamo River 5) Easy access to Metro

1) The view from the room is ordinary 2) Not for travelers who need to be within walkable distance of Kyoto station; you will need to change trains or take a taxi

The staff were very helpful and quick to accommodate our needs. We requested to upgrade to a room with a view before check-in time, and they were quick to find a suitable room. The location of the hotel is also very convenient, with the metro station right next to the hotel, and a Family Mart and a Lawson to the front. Very close to the Kamo River too.

The wifi was a bit slow, maybe it's a location issue for our room. Also, there are no chairs in our room although there was a small table to place teacups provided by the hotel.

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious compared to the Japanese standard, the bathroom was excellent, and the shower was very hot, so it was very enjoyable after a long day. The hotel is very well located and easy to access by tram, subway, bus, or taxi. There's a TV in each room with Netflix etc. Have a loot at my Imstagram account if you want to see more : lilia.rsb

Kyoto is saturated with tourists, and as a result, hotel prices skyrocket. The hotel is really nice but expensive for the type of hotel it is. Book well in advance to avoid having to pay such high prices.

Location was great. Convenient and accessible to the Kiyomizu-gojo station which is just a few meters away. Across the road is a drugstore, Lawson & Family Mart. Room size and toilet amenities were great. The breakfast spread was wonderful with a lot of variety - mostly Asian food with a few pastries. Staff were so helpful. We were 2 friends travelling together. 10/10 would recommend !!!

The only down I would say is no bottled water provided and water refills are only until 9pm but convenience stores are just across the road.
