I loved the modern touches in an old building. I was very cosy, the bed and futons were very comfortable. Loved having access to a laundry, and the toilet and bathroom were clean and modern. The property has cute antique furniture that add to the cute Kyoto town house feel. It was a unique and charming property to stay that I would recommend to anyone who wants a more private space. It’s also well located for the Gion, Higashiyama, and Kiyomizu-dera areas and well connected to public transport.

The lounge area was aesthetically pleasing but not terribly comfortable so not good for relaxing for a long time. Which was down for us as we were out sightseeing most of the day/night. Also the stairs to the second floor are the old narrow/steep style so might not be suitable for

We had a wonderful stay at this charming traditional-style apartment in Kyoto. The space beautifully combines tradition and comfort, offering the option of sleeping on Western-style beds or tatami mats. The interior is thoughtfully decorated with lovely accents, including an adorable and unique sofa downstairs that added so much character. It’s clear that a lot of care and personal touches went into creating a welcoming atmosphere. The apartment was well-equipped for the colder weather, with heating on both floors and even a heated carpet downstairs, making it cozy and comfortable throughout our stay. However, it’s worth noting that the stairs to the upper floor are steep and narrow, which could pose a challenge for guests with mobility concerns or those who may require more spacious access. Overall, staying here was a brilliant experience that truly allowed us to immerse ourselves in the Kyoto lifestyle. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable place to stay in this beautiful city!

We had a great one night stay here. The place was really clean and comfortable. Loved the traditional house and in a great location. The staff at the hotel where you collect key were welcoming and also responsive on messages. We reserved parking for 1500 yen for the night/day too. Well equipped with fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. You can't cook on the hot plate but that was made clear. Stairs are steep as others have said but ok for us. This is great value for money for Kyoto for 4 people.

The apartment was big, and we loved the location. Easy to get to all the sights but in a nice quiet street. The washing machine worked well and there was a lot of hanging space for clothes. The air conditioners worked well.

The communication was difficult, I think the owner needs to hire someone to write up a template English message to send to guests underneath the Japanese, explaining things like check in, if you can leave luggage early etc. I didn't hear back for 1-2 days before our stay and all the messages I received were in Japanese. I Google translated them and all was fine, but a stock standard English message with information would have made things easier. Also, while we appreciated having armchairs in the room unlike other accommodations, they weren't very comfortable. The stairs would be a downside if you have mobility issues, but I made them work even at six months pregnant.

Super friendly inn keeper, the home was perfect for our family of five, plenty of room to spread out. Super cute traditional style home with cedar wood floors and then there is the staircase up to the second floor. Very quiet area away from all the crowds. Location convenient to Gion and Philosophers Path. Metro station is very close by.

Not much to dislike but you may have a hard time going up steep staircases to access the second floor.

A modern and fully equipped accommodation in a traditional house in a fantastic location. One block away from a subway station, right on the edge of Gion, and a short walk to many of the historic shrines and temples in the Higashiyama area. A highlight of our travels in Japan.

A normally quiet neighborhood side street, but you will hear the street noise when it happens, such as the occasional loud car or people talking loudly as they pass.

Very cute kyoto town house. Our favourite stay in Japan so far. With all the amenities needed to feel comfortable and homey. Train station nearby and a short walk from lots of nice kyoto resteraunts. Really good home base for exploring kyoto. Thank you to the host. We really enjoyed ourselves.

It was a little hard to find the check in location, which is a short walk up from the house. We figured it out using the map provided. Keep in mind also the stairs are very steep, which leads to the bedroom. We liked them but an older person may have a hard time climbing the stairs.

Attention to small details, overall feeling of welcoming home. Everything was just in place and set up right. And value for money is just exceptional.

Everything was great for us, worth noticing that beds are one the second floor and the stair case is not an easy one, stiff stairs.

The house is older and very beautiful inside. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty. They were kind enough to let us store our luggage there while they cleaned. To check in/out, it's a short walk around the corner to pick up and drop off keys. Walking to different locations is doable.

Overall, the location is perfect, easy access to all the tourist spots. Room is clean and comfortable, toilet space is big and clean. The host is helpful in reserving the parking lot and very friendly receptionist at the counter when checking into the room.
