Lovely hotel. The location was in a quiet part of Kyoto and not very far from the main sights. There were many restaurants nearby and I even bought a beautiful kimono from a nearby shop. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. There was even a small balcony, which was a nice surprise. The best part of the hotel was the bathroom! The bathtub had a TV and a heater and cooling fan installed. It felt like a spa every time I took a bath. Fantastic value! It's worth staying here again

My only complaint would be the sofa bed. It was very hard and uncomfortable. My sister was able to sleep in it for 5 days, but she would not recommend it. If I stayed here again, I would book a second room or a room with 3 proper beds, especially if you are here for long period of time. The location was fine and next to a gorgeous canal walk. However I would maybe choose a place closer to the train stations as I found having a 10 minute walk back to the hotel from a station after a long day of sightseeing quite tiring. Great value and I would stay here again nonetheless

We were genuinely impressed by Hiz Hotel. The location is perfect – just 2 minutes from a metro station, and around 10 minutes on foot to the city center and Nishiki Market. The neighborhood is lovely, with a small canal and a calm, local atmosphere. Our room was quite spacious, and included a small kitchen, microwave, and even a washing machine, which was super convenient. The shower had great water pressure, and for the price we paid, we honestly still can’t believe the value – truly unbeatable.

It would have been great to have a shower curtain, just to avoid splashing around the bathroom.

It’s conveniently located really close to the train station and bus stops, which made it super easy for us to explore the area. Plus, there’s a combini and a supermarket just a short walk away, so we had everything we needed right at our fingertips. So far, I have to say that Kyoto has become my favorite city out of the three I’ve visited in Japan. I can't wait to come back!

One night, around 2:30 am, I was woken up by a group of people walking past the street and talking quite loudly. It was a bit disruptive, especially since I was hoping for a peaceful night. They didn't seem to be Japanese, which added to the surprise. Despite this little hiccup, I enjoyed my overall stay!

The price and location were great! It's very close to a bus stop with many routes and walking distance to Gion and The Philosopher's Path. They stored our luggage no problem. There's an elevator. The shower pressure was wonderful. The darkening window shades were tremendous.

It was small, which we knew. The bathroom door and track were dusty. The shower head popped out of place when turned all the way on. There also seemed to be a toilet leak our last day that caused an unpleasant odor. We were only provided one key, so if we were not all together one person had to let others in.

The hotel is located in a quiet residential Neighbourhood. They are flexible to allow early check-in. There is a trash room so we can dispose of our trash every day easily. The unit is big enough for three people. It takes us only three minutes to reach the subway station, which is a big plus.

There are not many restaurants nearby, we can only go to convenience stores for food. The building is made of wood. We stay on first floor. And one night the tenant on second floor was running around whole night, making it hard for us to go to sleep.

Great location with a nice kitchenette to use. You don’t always see the staff there, but it is that kind of hotel. It’s more let you do your own thing. They don’t bring you clean towels and stuff daily because you can do it yourself in the rooms washer. It is also very close to a small subway station and little shops. It was very convenient to go to some of the tourist sites in Kyoto either by walking, bus, or subway.

The people above us were very loud. It sounded like they were stomping the entire time. Not sure if that is an issue with the hotel or those guests.

Very nice location. 3min away from a bus stop and 7min away from a train station. 15min walking away from Yasaka shrine. The room was huge and having an in-room washer was definitely a big plus. Their reception area was small and they didn’t have as many accommodations (e.g. dining area, pool, gym) like other places but not a big problem for us at all. Also can’t beat the price. They can receive and store luggages but you need to bring luggages to the nearby Family Mart (3min away) to ship them out.

I really enjoyed my stay here. This place was walkable to a lot of restaurants, convenient stores, and a little night life city which I really enjoyed. The area around the hotel was so nice and peaceful, with a little river just a few minutes away was so nice. The hotel itself was also very comfortable and very clean. There was enough space for the 3 of us and I loved how the hotel provided a washer to wash our clothes. I also really appreciate that the hotel was able to hold onto our luggage’s before and after checking in/out. I wished I stayed here just a few more days to enjoy my stay, whenever I come back to Kyoto I will definitely come back to stay here.

Amazing location. Lots of food and shops nearby and a beautiful area to explore. The room was smaller than expected. We were 3A and 2C and it was just a bit too small, but otherwise would have fitted well with one less adult.

While it has a washing machine, there was nowhere to dry clothes, so we ended up going to a coin laundry to dry. Also, the hotel staff mucked up our departure transfer and made it a really stressful experience, so I probably wouldn't rely on staff for bookings.

The room is warm in winter (start of December)! Very comfortable room, there is small kitchen if you need. The staff is friendly. P.S. In Japan lots of properties are made of wood and insulation matters a lot. In 3 out of 7 properties I stayed during my trip in December, it was very cold, and got me very frustrated - there was literally no way to predict, whether the next place is going to be a nice home or ice cave. The reviews on booking.com are typically done in the warm season and we're not helpful.

I wish the automatic lights in the entrance had an option of manual switch off. The person on the sofa, facing the entrance could wake up every time smb went to the bathroom in the night.
