We have a lovely stay here. Emiko and her family were lovely hosts! The room was nice and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. The location is very close to the Keihan Main Line, which made it very easy to take the train to places like Fushimi Inari and Nishiki Market! Kiyomizu-dera is within walking distance as well as the Gion district. Various restaurants are nearby, in addition to two close Familymarts. We opted for the breakfast option and it was delicious! A different breakfast was provided each morning, and they were a great start to our day. Overall, Emiko's place made for a lovely home base as we explored Kyoto!

Walking distance from the Kyoto station is a little bit far while lugging around a few suitcases. (About 20 minutes depending on your pace)

Our stay at Kyo Anthu Inn was nothing short of perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness by Emiko, making us feel at home right away. The rooms were immaculate, , and provided a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. The homemade breakfast was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Emiko and her mom Yoko went above and beyond to help us navigate the city, offering fantastic recommendations and helping us with reservations for local restaurants. The location was ideal, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood yet conveniently close to public transportation and major attractions like Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera. After a long day of touring Kyoto, coming back to this cozy and welcoming place felt like returning to a home away from home. Emiko and her father drove us to a restaurant and later to the Kyoto train station on the morning we left the city. She even walked us to the subway station on our first day out in the city. If you’re looking for an authentic, warm, and memorable Kyoto experience, Emikos place is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

I really enjoyed my stay here! Location is in a residential area, making it a quiet respite after a whole day of sightseeing, while still being conveniently close to the center. Breakfast was also tasty and kindly brought into the room daily. Emiko-san and her family were very welcoming and accommodating. She even gave me a ride to Kyoto Station on my last day and always checked on me daily to see how I was. Very kind family. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit!

A very minor thing, but the bathroom sink is inside the shower area, so in case you need to wash your hands shortly after taking a shower, you won't have a choice but to step on the wet floor.

Emiko-san and her family were absolutely wonderful hosts. While Kyoto is undeniably a stunning city, half of the cherished memories I’ll take from this trip are thanks to Emiko and her family’s warmth and hospitality. We stayed for two nights and deeply regretted not extending our visit. On our second night, we returned to the inn drenched from a downpour. Emiko and her mom went above and beyond, helping us wash and dry our soaked clothes, even using their personal laundry machine to ensure everything was clean and dry. They also kindly allowed us to store our luggage after checkout and even gave us a ride to the train station, making our departure seamless and stress-free. Their kindness and generosity truly set them apart. If you’re a considerate traveler seeking a welcoming and heartfelt experience, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at their inn. It’s more than just accommodation—it’s a chance to connect with truly wonderful people.

Wonderful experience beyond words! The location is conveniently situated by the river so good for walks to the train station. It is within walking distance to a few shrines. The property has 3 rooms on 3 floors and owned by family. Rooms are spacious and have everything I need. I am impressed by the attention to detail. The bed is very comfortable. The staff are super friendly and efficient. I will definately come back to stay next time I visit Kyoto again.

I'm so sad we only stayed here one night. The hosts were so nice and made everything feel easy while we were there. We just needed one more night in Kyoto and this place was so much better than the first place we spent most of our time. The room was small, but just what we needed. There was good tea and when we realized we had missed printing a ticket that required a hard copy they printed it for us quickly and made sure we had it right away. I loved the breakfast here. It was a nice mix of things and they let us sit in the larger room since no one was staying in it when we were there. We will for sure try to make it back to this location when we make it out to Japan again!

We had to wait longer for buses and trains in this part of town, but it didn't bother us much. I think it was worth less transit options for such a good vibe overall.

Absolutely delighted with our stay. Emiko-san is an amazing host and gave us lots of recommendations for local travel and amenities. She even helped us to the correct metro station platform for our next destination on our last day. The room was lovely and quiet, and plenty of amenities provided. The area was fab as it was well-connected for travel on public transport, but away from the tourist hotspots so it was quiet. Nearby are lots of convenience stores and a whole variety of restaurants - we tried a different place every night. We would 100% stay here again if visiting Kyoto.

We loved our stay!

Location was great beside Shinjicho Station and within walking distance of Kyoto Station (I personally liked walking to Kyoto Station or wherever I was off to such as Kiyomizudera & Fushimi Inari!). Close by several Kyoto attractions, multiple konbinis, the river, McDonald's, etc. Emiko and her family were lovely and incredibly helpful straight from the beginning - she gave me detailed tips and advice upon check-in! Room was lovely too of course. If I ever return to Kyoto would stay again. Thank you for the stay!

Good location to explore Kyoto. Walking distance to Sanjusangendo temple and Kyoto national museum and about 30 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-dera. It is also convenient to the other area for food and activities. Plus, Emiko and her families were always being nice and helpful. Emiko also offered to give me a lift to the Kyoto station on the day of check-out. I will definitely recommend Kyo-anthu inn to my friends.

I was not used to the noise of air con but it's more about my personal sensitivity to the noise. It was better on the second night as I am kinda getting used to it.

Location is walking distance to a station and a short bus ride to Kyoto station. The rooms are clean and bigger than Tokyo's. The ground floor room 1 comes with a big onsen type bath. Each of the 4 beds are big super single (I think). The host Emiko-san and her family are friendly and accommodative. She walked us to the station to show us the way on our first day. She and her dad offered to drop the 6 of us off at kyoto station after we check out. Me and my family will return if we ever come back to Kyoto.

I cannot think of any.
