I want to leave the highest rate for this place, and I truly believe that my week-long stay gives me the confidence to do so. This was my first time in Kyoto, and I booked seven nights here. I was a bit nervous at first, but as soon as I arrived, all my worries disappeared. The hotel is clean, cozy, and beautifully maintained. The room was spacious, with a huge soft bed and a light, fluffy duvet. The small living area made it easy for us to enjoy meals in the room, and I was amazed by how spotless everything was — even the sliding door panels were dust-free. I have allergies, but I felt completely fine during my stay thanks to the thorough daily cleaning. The location is also perfect. It’s in a quiet and safe neighborhood, yet just a few steps from a main road and a very convenient bus stop with frequent buses to all the major sights. Getting around Kyoto was incredibly easy. Lastly, I’m grateful to the kind staff who helped us book a taxi to Kyoto Station on our last day. Everything went smoothly and on time. This stay gave me such warm and precious memories. I highly recommend it.

This is is more of a 'residence' hotel--it has no restaurants, but we did order the breakfast which was delivered when we wanted it and was delicious. The people that work there couldn't be nicer and the hotel is in a perfect location for walking to restaurants and shops on Shijo St., one of Kyoto's most popular streets. The room is spacious with a nice eating area (with a refrigerator and a coffe/tea making area), comfortable king bed and a nice-sized bathroom and bathing area and a walk-in closet with safe. The air conditioning works well and the people working there are very helpful. Shifo St. is literally a few steps away and we took a nice 20-minute walk up to Shijo-Jo Castle which was a fascinating visit to the Shogun era.

i suppose it would be nice to have a 24-hour restaurant in the hotel but we liked the hotel the way it is and there are so many restaurants just a minute or two away on Shijo St. that we never missed having a restaurant in the hotel.

The location was a bit far from the city centre, the bus which was a 5 minute walk away took you directly to the centre or the train station. At night, the quiet streets came alive with local restaurants opening and welcoming us to dine as tourists. The neighbourhood was quiet and safe. The room was spacious, comfortable, modern and extremely clean. Additional space was available as a lounge area which included a small coffee table and tv. Fridge, kettle, iron and tea and coffee were made available and a balcony for some fresh air was accessible.

Beautiful accommodation in boutique hotel. The hotel is located on a side street which I found slightly disconcerting at first, but Kyoto is full of these quaint little streets and they are perfectly safe. The reception area is also very small, but then we were only there for 5 minutes so it was immaterial. Concerns that the rooms might be similarly small were unfounded - our room was large with a huge double bed, a lounge area, walk in wardrobe, tea and espresso machine, fridge, TV, bathroom with bath and shower, guest robes and pyjamas - to be honest, it was a really spacious, well appointed room which was scrupulously clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

The staff were beautiful and could speak very good English. We had travelled far to get to Kyoto and the staff allowed us to check in earlier. They even heated up our lunch for us. The room size is huge!!!! I think the bed was a super king and there was plenty of bed space and it was really comfy too. The bath tub was amazing to relex in. My husband and I are both 6ft and we could fit in the bathtub. The little extra dinning seating area was so lovely to sit and relax and have a cup of tea in the morning. It was a close walk from the train station. The life supermarket is 1 minute away and they had the best katsu sandwiches we have had on the trip. There are 2 bus stops right out the front on the main street that take you almost anywhere in Kyoto - we went to Panel Cafe for souffle pancakes and continued onto some shrines. The amenities are beautiful, they provide full sized toothbrush and hairbrush, bath salts, razor, everything. You can ask for more should you wish for more. It was exceptionally clean, no dust, no smell, it was incredible.

The room size was exceptional, with a little TV/couch nook, a closet to put luggage and felt a bit more like an apartment room than a hotel. Wonderful service - staff spoke the best English we'd had on our trip (not that we expected that, but it was a nice bonus), arranged luggage for us on arrival for our next hotel. The next time we visit Kyoto we would stay here again. Solid internet speed that was sufficient to do work on and get the all important Netflix.

The room ventilation fan was noticeable. But really that's the only nitpick.

We absolutely loved coming home to our beautiful and large room. Much larger than all the other options we looked at in the area. The place is clean, beautiful and quiet. Every details was perfect in our eyes. We are so happy we chose to stay here and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. We would book again for our next trip.

There isn’t much natural sunlight. It was winter and we knew this was the case so it wasn’t a negative. The other positives more than made up for this in our eyes.

Very beautiful little Ryokan style hotel with only 12 rooms. The rooms are huge, very generous sized with a sofa and a sitting area. The decor is zen like with a little koi pond too. Breakfast was amazing, the Japanese option is recommended.

Note that there's no restaurant and no real laundry facilities, and the TV service (as in many accommodation in Japan) is only in Japanese) There's no mirror cast option either. Food wise we were not impressed by the offerings in the area but other eating districts, including Gion is within 15 min walking distance

My boyfriend and I traveled for 3 weeks throughout the bigger part of Japan, and we both agreed that this hotel was our favorite of all the 7 hotels we stayed at. The staff was remarkable, especially an older gentleman that had previously worked at "The four season's hotel". He had such attention to detail and was incredibly friendly. The hotel is perfectly situated in Kyoto. It lies within a calm neighborhood and yet has both the metro and the bus stop just minutes away. The area also have some nice restaurants and a huge supermarket as their next door neighbour. For the value of the room it is really remarkable what you are getting. One of the best things about this stay was definitely the amazing bed. Coming from Norway I am not used to hard japanese beds;- which were in every hotel we stayed at expect from this hotel. We stayed here in the beginning of our trip and it was such a nice experience that we came back to the same hotel for our last days in Japan.

Nothing to say here. There was nothing we did not like.

Cozy and spacious room. Switches are a bit hard to find to shut off one vent; then it's silent. Two TVs are included, but without Netflix or any streaming service.

One day we had to leave the room before 1 p.m. for cleaning, but that's more than okay. If you don't want to take the bus, the train station is a 10-15 minute walk.
