With several restaurants in and around its neighborhood and a 7-11 directly across the street, Shizutetsu Hotel Prezio Kyoto Shijo welcomes guests to one of the best areas in the city. Two blocks away, you will find a Boulangerie to die for within minutes from Nijo Castle. At Shijo-Omiya station, you can take the Randen tram to Arashiyama after a short, 10-minute walk from the hotel, Shijo Nishinotoin bus stop is one block away, and Karasuma station train station is close enough for you to walk with your carry-on and backpack without breaking a sweat for only a few minutes on a flat road as you make your way to catch the Limited Express train Osaka-Umeda on the Hanky-Kyoto Line, an affordable option that I highly recommend to any visitors travelling between the two cities for its comfort and value. Furthermore, the hotel provides access to a handy launderette behind the elevators (all you need is 100-yen coins as the washing machines automatically dispense detergent), in addition to free toiletries by the reception (take the bath salts to recover after a long day of temple hopping) and excellent coffee from a machine right by the elevators (the Americano coffee was particularly good), currency exchanger and umbrellas for any rainy day. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with both Japanese and Western options, and I will always remember the breakfast attendant, a lovely old lady who greeted us every morning and even handed me the tray sometimes. And if you enjoy starting your day with a big breakfast, do not hesitate to make a reservation with breakfast included. Every day, we also received free bottles of water and green tea bags in a paper bag with fresh towels even if we did not request room cleaning. The bed was so comfortable, I feel asleep immediately as I slipped into those sheets with a high thread count. Yet, I will remember this hotel first and foremost for its staff, incredibly diligent, considerate and helpful even after checking out.

I cannot think of anything to suggest as a potential improvement to this hotel other than the ability to open the window. The staff was exceptional, breakfast was delicious and the room was comfortable.

Only 2 stops away from Kyoto Station and 10 minutes walk from Shijo station! Very convenient! A 7-11 is located just opposite the hotel and the area is relatively quiet with comparatively lesser human traffic compared to the hotels located at Kyoto Station; definitely a plus for travelers wanting a restful experience! Also, there is a Family Mart located at the main street and a 24-hr Fresco supermarket not far from the hotel! Lots of good restaurants located around the vicinity. Additionally, there is a Holly's Coffee that is open from 7am nearby for a change if you have enough of Japanese food. In the room, there is an individual massage chair and leg massager! What a plus to use after a whole day's of shopping to soothe the muscles. The hotel also provide 4 different flavors of bath bombs and different toiletries for use for free at the lobby to help yourself to it. The lobby also has a coffee machine for travelers to get free coffee in the morning if you just need a cuppa. For the laundry facility, the washer and dryer are separate, which is a plus.

The staff at breakfast was incredibly friendly! 😊 The rooms were bigger than expected. There is not a lot of space to store your belongings, but we just kept our stuff in our suitcases. The bathtub seems small at first, but is very comfy, due to its depth. There is free coffee in the lobby and a vending machine for drinks. Finally, the location is perfect! It's 10 minutes by foot to Nishiki market, there is a 7-Eleven opposite of the hotel and public transport can be reached within 5-10 minutes. We highly recommend Shizutetsu Hotel Prezio Kyoto Shijo and will miss the lady from breakfast.

Modern and serene hotel. Room and property were maintain well. Fast elevators. Free skincare, bath salt, and personal care amenities. Delicious free coffee and tea in reception. Towels, bottles of water, green tea replenished daily. (I saw a sign that stated they will be charging for towels starting Jun 1, 2025 though). ROOM: CLEAN. Sufficient space to move around room. Amazing and powerful water pressure in shower. "high tech" toilet :) Beds- medium/firm, and extremely comfortable. (We felt that the beds in Japan were better than our own Tempurpedic mattress at home!) Loved that hotel honoured our request for additional pillows and blankets. * Choice of beer/green tea/matcha tea or coca cola for waiving housekeeping. Price - booked during early bird specials. A bit pricier than other hotels. For the price, it should have included breakfast or added amenities like an onsen. However since we had a tub and they provide free bathsalt, this didn't take away from our great experience here.

The room was spacious with very big beds and kept very clean. There were plenty of supermarkets nearby, like Fresco, LIFE, and a 7-11 right in front. The staff were professional and friendly. Housekeeping was done daily, and even if you skipped cleaning, they still provided fresh towels, water, and tea. The hotel was also well connected to public transport. Smoking room and laundry room

It wasn’t very central, so getting to the main area took some time. Also, there was no in-room coffee—you had to go downstairs to use the machine.

The hotel is very clean and equipped with everything you need. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in an area full of restaurants and with a short walk the Kyoto market can be reached. Some of the staff speak English well and some do not, but nevertheless they try to help using translation apps. I fully recommend it and should I go back to Kyoto again I would select this hotel again.

Breakfast was quite repetitive and not up to a four star hotel (at least for my European standards). However, travelling through Japan for 18 days in both 3 and 4 stars hotels, I noticed that generally the diversity of breakfast, and sometimes even quality, is higher in Europe especially in 4 stars hotels.

Super comfy rooms with an excellent bathroom. Beautiful lobby and the staff were so so helpful! There's a Seven-11 right in front of the hotel, which made it super easy to grab a good breakfast every morning.

The room had a wall hanger, but it wasn’t very practical since we had to open our luggage in the hallway due to limited space. I wish there had been more hangers available, especially for jackets after returning from exploring the city. That small addition would have made the room feel more organized and comfortable.

We weren't sure why this hotel would have such a good rating, but we liked the rating and booked it. Once we got there, it was clear why it had such a good rating. Apart from the excellent hotel itself and breakfast, the difference was the staff. Very professional and helpful. A couple of examples. First, there were a couple of additional items that I requested on the first morning from the lady who supervised the breakfast buffet. The next morning, she had remembered me and brought me the same items again without me asking! Second example, we had some presents to give to family, but we didn't have a nice bag. Reception gave us two very suitable new bags free of charge that were perfect for what we wanted. Thank you! We miss Hotel Prezio!

Everything was great.

Modern hotel, spotlessly clean, very well equipped with vending machines and free items. Situated close to the main commercial avenue with metro and bus lines. The staff was very polite and professional. Great value for money.

Company policy dictates that guests do a self-check-in at one of the machines at the lobby. While this can be convenient for very early or late check-ins or when busy, it was strange to be asked to do my own check-in when there were three people at the reception desk and there was no other customer but me. It was like arriving at a good restaurant and asked to order food on a screen. Great hospitality is all about human contact.

Great location (city center), walking distance to many important attractions as well as public transportation. The staff was lovely, helped us with recommendations, luggage shipment to our next hotel, and more. The hotel and the room were super clean, and it was very nice that they provided two water bottles each day. The cherry on top was that the room included a massage armchair! Which was super nice.

The air conditioning had a timer or something and it kept switching off during the night, so it was hot at night. Also, the water temperature in the bathtub was not consistent during the shower, and kept cooling off and heating up.
