This hotel amazed me. I've never stayed in such a beautiful and classy hotel before. It was modern yet had the oriental authentic beauty as well, such as the lighted windows. From the kettle to the Music on the TV, it was the perfect way to relax. Staff were exceptional, friendly and showed me the way to my hotel via the elevator. They also complimented me on my Japanese, which was a huge honour. They also directed me to a local massage venue. If staying here, it is well worth using the public bath. Breakfast was very good, but the evening meal was one of the best meals i've ever had in my life. They had a great selection of Sake's (rice wine) too. I really felt like royalty being here. That I only had one night here. When I next come to Kyoto, I hope to stay here again.

Every person I encountered here on staff was very warm and friendly - the front desk staff in particular were just terrific. The public bath amenity is fabulous - my timing was immaculate on several occasions I had the whole space to myself, which was just heavenly. The "onsen" bath was not spring fed, but was carbonated which was a unique and very pleasant experience. So lovely when your feet are killing you from exploring this GORGEOUS city all day long! Great water pressure throughout the building, so whether I bathed in the bath area or in my own room, it was an invigorating experience. The aesthetic of the hotel is very elegant, the room was pretty well appointed with a kettle, tea & coffee, and mineral water in aluminum bottles was provided daily. The location in Kyoto was terrific - not SUPER close to Kyoto station, but the proximity to major transit was reasonable and I VASTLY preferred the neighborhood to those closer to the big station. Lovely historic feel to the whole area. Walkable to Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, and so many other beautiful cultural treasures. Great little restaurants, boutiques, cafes - just a lovely neighborhood that seemed to be as popular with local residents as visitors. I would LOVE to stay here again, I felt it was a great value for the rate I paid. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the hotel restaurant - exceptional breakfast especially if you enjoy Japanese traditional cuisine - you are offered the choice of four primary items, then you supplement from an ample buffet of really delicious choices that included salads, tempura, chawanmushi, desserts, and so much more. Definitely something for anyone, even if they don't love fish for breakfast as much as I do. LOL Very worth the price.

The bed could have been more comfortable, but very firm beds and pillows seem to be the norm in Japan. I didn't understand why they didn't replenish the coffee packets in the room when they replenished the water bottles - but again, whatever - minor inconvenience that gave me a reason to stop by the lovely front desk staff.

The hotel is exceptional and frankly exceeded our expectations. Its minimalist architecture centered on an inner garden is a real highlight. We had a fantastic stay. Everything was perfect, including the public baths and the breakfast. We stayed in a superior room. The location was good, only a few streets away from central metro and bus stations. The room overlooked a quiet street

Really minor things: the hotel could offer a private onsen for couples or hours when they can use the public bath together. The breakfast was amazing, but got a bit repetitive after a few days. I would offer the option to have smaller portions and maybe a few main dishes to choose from, in addition to the buffet

This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is extremely pretty and eco-friendly, so you can choose for two room cleaning options. The room was spacious and clean, and it provided some international adpters for electronic devices. The personal was very polite and friendly, and the location is perfect. The closest train station is just a 10 min walk and there are restaurants/convenient stores very close by. It was perfect for walking to the train, markets or other touristy areas around. There is an onsen as well, with modern ammenities.

Exceeded my expectations My sister recommended this play and I wish I booked in for their other locations. Staff were so friendly, walked you to the lift, greeted you with warmth and provided exceptional detail on what is included. I loved being able to access the shared baths and was able to utilise their tattoo patches to be able to experience it. It also had so many cute amenities in the area post bath which was so relaxing. The room was super spacious and clean, I also love how they provide you with the choice of an eco friendly clean that excludes certain services. Highly recommend!

The room was spatious enough to accomodate both of us and two big luggage bags as well. Water was provided every day, room was clean, everything worked and the atmosphere was very silent and relaxing. The lobby is beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly both at check in and at check out. The onsen was a huge bonus and very pleasant to soak in. Really liked the fact that you could check how busy it was from the TV in the room. Being able to do laundry as well as checking the status from the TV in the room was also a nice feature.

The room had no direct view to the outside because the windows were frosted and sometimes it felt a bit weird not to know how outside looks like. More laundry machines would have been great, but not something that I would hold it against them in any way. We managed just fine.

Loved the elegance of the facility. Loved the bath house, I used it every night. The restaurant had excellent food. The room was spacious. Good location. I loved that they had a site for all of the temples and shrines that let you know which ones were at peak foliage. The price was incredible for what you get. I would definitely recommend.

The pillows that come with the beds are not comfortable. I was very appreciative I saw via another review that they offered alternative pillows. Those were better but still a little stiff. The bed and bedding itself could be comfier. Mattress was a little hard. I was able to sleep better here than some other hotels throughout my Japan stay so it’s manageable but could be a better experience.

the staff was amazing. being indians we are NOT used to COMPACT rooms... we checked in late ... and when we brought it to staff notice... he personally came and removed extra furniture to accommodate us. ABOVE AND BEYOND CALL OF DUTY the front offic were extremely help ful going out of their way to suggest pre shpping our luggage to Osaka saving us senior citizens huge amount of inconvenience. the breakfast too was good..

somehow in japan the system is NOT geared for black tea so for indians we have to remember to buy from a 7 elevan. but this is a trifle.

We like the onsen experience at this hotel. I like the security of entering the hotel elevators and the onsen.

The room size was very small than what we usually are assigned. I’m not sure if the hotel was at capacity when we checked in. During the morning of December 5 at approximately 6:30AM, women’s onsen was trashed. Wash towels were left hanging on 2 stalls, chairs were scattered, wash pans were scattered and a drink container was left inside the bathing area. Toothbrushes were left in the bathing area. I wondered if any staff member checked the area so that other guests have this bad experience. The following days were fine so I am sure it must have been the group who was there on December 4 and/or 5.

The atmosphere inside the hotel was very pleasant, the interior was beautiful and the room was clean and modern. The neighbourhood was calm and quiet, but you could still find great restaurants and metro and bus stops near the hotel. We had a super relaxing stay, and the onsen spa was a cherry on top. Would highly recommend!

Although well connected with public transport, it took a bit longer to main attractions compared to staying in, e.g., Kyoto station area or Gion. For us it was fine and we liked the less crowded neighbourhood. The room was a bit small with a larger suitcase, but still manageable.
