The hotel completely met my expectations. The room was extemely spacious and clean, and the front staff were very friendly and helpful in providing us tips for enjoying our time in Kyoto. The room design was also unique, blending modern design elements with a traditional Japanese aesthetic. Lastly, the location is great if you want to be close to the sightseeing core of Kyoto (with easy access to Nishiki Market, the International Manga Museum, Nijo Castle, and Gion) as well as the Hankyu-Kyoto train line (which can be used to go to Osaka in less than 1 hour).

My stay was excellent, and my only complaints are nitpicks, though they do prevent it from being a 10. The location, while good for sightseeing, is a bit far from Kyoto station, so it is a mild inconvenience if you first arrive with a lot of luggage. Also, this is really minor, but the chime that plays at our room's door was quite loud and could be quite disturbing to those sleeping if someone needs to go out and in regularly (e.g. to smoke). The only thing thing which proved to be bothersome was that there appeared to be no way to turn off the motion-sensing light near the room entrance and bathroom, meaning that those lights would turn on randomly whenever someone had to use the bathroom during the night.

It’s a decent location - about 10 minutes drive to train station or 15-20 minutes on the bus, fairly easy access to restaurants. The reception is limited, only open 2-11pm, but the staff is friendly and accommodating - they quickly helped us fix issues with an annoying motion sensor light and the air conditioning. The room is fairly big (2 double beds for 3 people), and the beds are pretty comfy. Nice shower room, and helpful to have a luggage storage room for check in/check out.

The door to the toilet room was incredibly loud/awkward, but that was it - every other issue was quickly resolved by staff

Rooms are well sized, and have everything one needs! Great assortment of toiletries, tees and other treats. There are also 2 easy-to-operate washing machines and driers with complimentary washing soap. We were in need of an hdmi cable for our camera, and the staff was able to provide even that :)

10+min walk to underground station, but there are several bus stops very close. It was always a hassle to find a restaurant for dinner without booking in advance, but it might be a general issue in Kyoto, not only in this area.

They were super baby friendly and provided us with both cot and a diaper bin! The room was large and had everything we needed including cooking utensils and plates. It was very close to both train and bus stations to major attractions, less than 10 minutes walk, and there are lots of supermarkets nearby, as well as many restaurants and bars. The luggage storage was convenient as well. Check in and out was so seamless with the app, though I don't really like having to download a new app for a hotel. It was so good my partner wanted to come back when we got to our next hotel!

Having to download an app to stay in a hotel is a bit annoying, I feel like a similar thing can be accomplished by a website. The coin machine was broken during our stay, which was a bit inconvenient for the laundry.

Accomodation was clean and modern. Beds were comfortable. It was really convenient to store our luggage in the storage room and it was secure with the lock and key.

It would have been nice for the kitchen to be equipped with a kitchen knife and scissors. The tv was ok, but no option to log into Netflix like at other hotels. It would have been helpful to have instructions in English posted next to the appliances. We were able to use a Google translate app, but just a note for next time in case feedback is helpful

Great hotel, very nice for the price. There are not 5-star amenities, like a large lobby with a restaurant and bar, but the rooms are very spacious, very clean, and modern. The staff is very nice and helpful. They helped us with restaurant advice and other suggestions throughout our stay. I would stay here again.

This is out of the properties control, but I would have like to see a coffee shop that is a little closer to the property. There was a very neat boutique coffee place about a block away which we went two a couple of times, however, $12 for a cup of coffee was a little too much for my taste. The location of the property is good, however, it's not in the heart of the main shopping and eating district, so you have to plan for a 10-15 walk.

Such a clean and organised stay. Check in and out was very easy and being able to leave your luggage at the hotel was so convenient if you’re arriving before check in and staying after check out. The rooms were very spacious and modern and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Would highly recommend.

Everything was amazing, however the only thing i would say is it’s about 20-40 min walk from main temples and places, however there are buses everywhere that run all the time so this isn’t an issue.

I enjoy the location. It's not super close but it's walkable to Nishiki Market and the Pokémon Center. It's rather secluded so during the night it feels rather quiet and peaceful and you're not far from a Life supermarket. The room is rather clean and spacious even when I stayed with 3 people in the past

The entire check-in process has changed from the last time I had stayed to the point where I was not receiving email notifications for things like my door code more than half a day later. While the staff was mostly cordial they were not present at the desk for close to an hour during the check-in time while another customer was also waiting to have a question answered.

Ori Kyoto is a wonderful blend of modernity and traditional charm. One thing to note is that check-in requires downloading and registering for an app, which might be a bit of a hassle for some. However, once set up, the process was smooth and efficient. Overall, Ori Kyoto provides a unique and comfortable stay that beautifully combines the best of old and new Kyoto. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a modern twist on the traditional ryokan experience!

Very spacious & clean room. Nice quiet neighborhood. Friendly staff & room were clean. Check in was done before arrival via online which save us alot of time.
