The staff were very accommodating and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The room was spacious enough to comfortably fit 3 adults and 2 kids, and it came with all the basic amenities we needed. Its Japanese-inspired design added a charming, authentic touch to our experience. The hotel is also conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from Nishiki Market, giving us easy access to one of Kyoto’s most famous food and shopping spots.

It’s not a big deal, but as first-time visitors to Kyoto, we would have preferred staying a bit closer to the city center for easier access. While the location is still convenient and well-connected by public transport, being in the heart of the city would have made exploring even more effortless.

While a little bit of a walk from the subway, the hotel was centrally located and most Kyoto attractions, including the Kyoto Tower, the Gion District and the Yasaka Pagoda were easily reachable on foot or via a short subway ride. The multilingual staff at the front desk were very kind and helpful, and never failed to greet us with a warm, welcoming style. Overall we were very impressed by the hotel itself. Our family of two adults and two teens had a one bedroom unit which was incredibly spacious, clean, ultra-modern and well-equipped. It was also handy to have an onsite coin laundry and dryer!

Our comments are based in the hotel Mimaru Kyoto Kawaramachi Gojo instead of this one because there was a issue with double booking that was communicated to us weeks before our trip. The staff of Nishinotoin Takatsuji took care of transferring our booking to their sister branch, where we oroceeded directly the day of our arribal to Kyoto. The Kawaramachi Gojo is ideally located (a bit far from the Subway Karasuma, though). Walking distance from Gion, Pontocho, etc. and lots of restaurants, convenience stores close by. Plenty of space in the room for a family of four, kitchen and eating area included.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment room which was more than enough room for our family of 4. We had 4 beds and a separate living area. Having two toilets was a great bonus. The hotel was exceptionally clean and had great facilities. The coin laundry was good value and easy to use. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel was well located about a 5 mins walk from the subway station which was only 2 stops from Kyoto station. We walked to Nishiki Market which took about 20 minutes. I would highly recommend this hotel especially for families wanting space and comfort.

Nothing...this hotel was fantastic

The property was managed by lovely staff. The rooms were very well appointed with amenities and kitchenette that was well stocked with plates, bowls and cutlery. There was a great supermarket up the road called Life. Well appointed with many great prepared meals to take back to the room after a busy day sightseeing. Facilities in the hotel well very clean.

Having to share the washing machines down stairs was a bit of a hassle. Availability was limited, and someone left a tissue or something in the machine so all my blacks came out with white tissue fluff. The room would have been good if we could get some natural light into the room. The beds are incredibly hard. Not firm, but hard.

Big enough room for 4 pax. Although the hotel didn’t provide bed room slippers and toothbrushes, etc., they basically provided everything else! You could loan things like an airfryer, leg massager, toaster, steamer and many more! They provide coffee/tea sachets and even baby diapers and adult sanitary pads. Location was really convenient too. Very friendly and helpful staff. They even have free luggage delivery to other Mimaru hotel outlets. If I’d known sooner, I’d have booked the same hotel chain in Osaka, so i can just send my luggages over for free.

We only realised the air condition was not switched on after the 3rd night! The aircon control panel screen was on the whole time but we only realised, you still had to press the “ON” button for the air conditioner to be switched on! So silly. There was an air purifier that blew out cool air that kept the place cool.

We had a tatami room. The room is catered for 5 pax so there are plenty of room. Bathroom is nice that it had a dry area to dress and wet area to wash. Toilet is small considering the size of the room. Had a little kitchen with all the pots and plates etc. Good to have a proper large fridge to use. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and friendly and spoke very good English. Had a self-service laundry and vending machine on site. There is a bus just a few steps from the hotel.

There are not that many places to eat around, need to walk to the main road. Getting there with luggage is best done by private transfer/taxi, not really practical to take the subway and walk.

Like the other Mimaru hotel locations, staff were very friendly and helpful. They spoke fluent English. The location was a short bus ride away from Kyoto Station. However, it was quite a distance from other JR stations. We liked that it had a few good places to eat close to the hotel and there were convenience stores and 2 supermarkets a short walk away to purchase things to eat inside the room. All the kitchen utensils you need were available in the room.

The windows didn't open out to anything and from what I recall not able to let fresh air in. Maybe the venue needs 1-2 more dryers as there was competing space for laundry facilities.

Good location. Nice room with the bedroom kinda separate to the dinning room. Could close off the bedroom with the sliding doors which was handy when putting kids to bed. Heaps of storage in the room for suitcases and prams etc. Easy walk to the shopping street and 5 mins to a supermarket and busses. There was also a small playground down the road which is handy for families travelling with kids. Room was clean and spacious and front desk staff were friendly and helpful.

Great rooms, outstandingly helpful staff... No wonder everyone says this is the place to bring a family. It's nice to have a kitchen with a good-sized fridge to store conbini hauls, hahahaha. The large dining area with comfortable seating was a huge plus. Even our room, just behind the front desk, was very quiet at night. The bath could use an automated tap shutoff, but the rain shower head is an outstanding addition. Just a great place to stay.

We really had no complaints.
