The location was simply perfect. We didn’t use trains or taxis in Kyoto, as most places were easily accessible on foot. We only took a bus to some distant locations. I particularly enjoyed the balcony, which offered a view of the surroundings from the window and good room lighting. The room was exceptionally clean, equipped with a humidifying air cleaner and a quiet air conditioner. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Most of the time, there’s no one at the reception, but the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Really low ceilings make rooms appear larger in photos. Also, our room didn’t have a mini sofa shown in the photos. Furthermore, the air cleaner/humidifier wasn’t functioning because the internal filters were still wrapped in plastic. I unpacked the filters and had the cleaner working as new during my stay. I hope the staff will pay attention to this issue and ensure that the air cleaner/humidifier is set up, maintained, and cleaned according to the manual. Additionally, please ensure that the bathroom ventilator is always on when you’re inside. Otherwise, due to the very low room volume, CO2 levels quickly rise, causing headaches in the mornings.

The hotel is very quiet in a beautiful side street, conveniently located close to Konbinis & restaurants. It’s clean and the beds are comfortable. The room has a microwave & a tatami area. If you don’t feel like eating out, you can just heat up your Famima dinner and eat it there. The room is spacious enough to stay organized, even is you live out of a backpack and the bathroom has everything it needs. It was our second stay at the hotel and we want to come back!

Great location, cosy room and easy check in/out. The couple who run the place were welcoming and let me store my bags after checkout which was appreciated. The room was comfortable, great firm bed and soft bedding, slept well every night! The actual space in the room is small but that wasn’t a problem for me. The balcony wasn’t really functional for sitting out on but nice to open the sliding doors. It’s a quiet area which was perfect and I loved walking around the neighbourhood and enjoyed a few local eateries and went to the nearby sento. It’s also walking distance to the main touristy areas and markets. I didn’t use the trains/buses much as I rented a bike (you can park outside) but there are plenty of stations and stops nearby.

During my stay at Yukari Kyoto, I loved the way it perfectly combined traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The peaceful atmosphere made it feel like a sanctuary, allowing me to unwind and fully immerse myself in Kyoto’s culture. The staff’s attentiveness and the beautiful views added to the experience, and being so close to Kyoto’s stunning temples and gardens made exploring easy and enjoyable. It was truly a memorable stay.🩵

- Lovely owners of a little guest house. They were super accommodating and helped us get our luggage shipped to the next location. - The rooms were spacious and well equipped. They had a cute little step up into a tatami area which felt like a little Japanese apartment. - Great location, close to lots of lovely coffee shops, eateries and a short walk from Nishiki market. - Loved that there was a bath.

This hotel was a real surprise find when I was looking for hotels in Kyoto, great value for a comfortable room a short walk away from the city centre! Very clean with great bathroom, very comfortable stay and very happy with my time there.

Nothing major just feel like the size of the balcony (and garden as we had a friend stay in a garden room) didn't really justify the extra cost, however the space was nice just very small, apart from that, all was lovely/

The couple who run the guest house are so helpful and friendly and did everything to make our stay wonderful. The room (for a family of 4) was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The area is quiet but is walkable to many restaurants and other places of interest. We were able to leave our luggage in the room after checkout, and the staff took the luggage to their storeroom, which we were then able to pick up later. I would definitely stay here again!

We only spent a single night at this guesthouse but we were quite happy. It's quite close to the hotspots of Kyoto. You can easily walk to the Gion district. The room was clean and had anything you need for a stay. The staff was really friendly and helpful!

There's a wooden bar ontop of the matres. If you're bigger it might be a problem, cause you tend to lay on it instead if the mattress. The air conditioner was a bit strong and sadly couldn't be set any lower.

Not much to complain about here. Would have liked an earlier check in time but 4pm seems to be standard in Japan

Clean and comfortable, with good attention to detail, and great customer service. Week day rates are really affordable. Very quiet. In a quiet neighborhood - but enough restaurants around.

Rooms are small and the double bed is… a double bed, so as two tall Americans, well, it’s a bit tight. The WiFi is great in the lobby but virtually nonexistent on the 4th floor.
