The property was clean and we liked how local and within a beautiful neighbourhood it was located in. We could explore hidden cafes and restaurants that were walking distance. It was near Kyoto station and the main shopping district as well as main bus stops. The initial structure of the property was preserved well and we really liked that touch to the house. Many amenities inside the room which guests could enjoy

Walls were super thin and so you needed to be quiet all the time. We couldn't really relax while inside our room because we had to be mindful of other guests that were a few steps away in their rooms.

The room was spacious for our family of four, I liked there is a dining area in the room where we can sit. The Machiya is beautifully restored with a modern touch. We stayed for 3 nights, even though no cleaning service, they provided extra towels for us to change and extra amenities if needed. The kitchen was fully equipped, we were able to cook a simple meal and amenities like green teas and coffee provided. Check in staff were super helpful and friendly.

Just have to be aware that check in needs to be done at front desk office at a different location to the Machiya, next to the Kyoto station. However they can send your luggage to the Machiya for you but you have to make your way there by yourself.

Walking distance to city center, metro/train stations, bus stops and convenience stores. Also, the neighborhood around the hotel is very calm and peaceful.

Pillow and mattress combination were not very comfortable. Also, check-in reception was at different location than the hotel (10 minutes driving), so anticipate that you still have to carry your luggages from the check-in location to the hotel by either using the metro or taxi as you could not take big luggages into the local buses.

Location, 10min walk to Shijo subway station and 5min to main bus lines to Kyoto station and Gion. Beautiful remodelled japanese house. Very comfortable. Very good amenities including umbrellas. When we forgot our pin code the staff was quick to help us via direct phone line. Quiet neighbourhood.

We stayed in the bunk bed room and found the stairs to the upper bed very steep and with hard edges, maybe some rubber could improve it. Also, some more towel hooks or handles in the bathroom would be a good improvement.

it is nice experience to stay in this hotel. the hotel is hidden in a small lane, so it is hard to find, but the architecture is traditional KYOTO style and is quite peaceful thanks to its location. the hotel is quite close to metro stations and bus stops, and it is only ten minutes' walk from it to shijo kawaramachi. the room is warm and exquisitely designed. we are really satisfied about it. the hotel does not provide breakfast, but there is quite a lot of options on the main street just a few steps from the hotel. there is a large supermarket on that street so it is convenient to buy some groceries.

the stairs to the second floor is too narrow to let go luggages. the check-in location is four KARASUMA stations away, opposite the KYOTO station, which can be a bit of a hassile. the cleaning service is not arranged daily and can be occasionally forgotten.

It is a very nice looking accommodation in a good location (we walked home most days). The streets around are beautiful, and there are a couple convenience stores nearby. We were very comfortable in the room (clean, comfy beds, good aircon and bathroom) and if we come back to Kyoto we'll choose the same place to stay.

We got the room with bunk beds, and the stairs were a bit hard to climb (too vertical). A microwave in the common room would be super helpful.

The residence really looks like a traditional house and the neighbourhood is very quiet. The bigger room we stayed was really nice and comfy especially considering the Japanese standard of smaller rooms. Staff is really nice and helpful.

We had a small incident in the first room but was resolved by calling the dedicated line and we were offered a satisfactory solution on the spot at 2 am.

The location is about 10-15 mins walk away from the Train Station and will get you where you want to go. The bus stop is also about 5 mins walk away, which is the better option depending on your destination.

The bed could have been a little better, but that's a personal preference and probably just a nitpick. On my stay, the front door didn't close properly on its own, therefore it wasn't locked if the person who went in/out didn't push it to close. However, the area-even at night, felt safe.

Lation, the quietness, the suite with the tatami is great. love the amenities, like washing machine and microwave and grill toaster.

Room a little dusty, should have more instructions on where to leave the trash and how to find stuff in the room, for example, second roll of toilet paper. Dishes are located too high to reach. No staff on site but an emergency phone to call. But, we made it like home after the first night. No big deal. Stairs are narrow for big luggages.

This is great place, good location in a quiet lane off the street. The small apartment is comfortable, with AC, a kitchenette and excellent shower. There is a nice hang-out area in the lobby of the building. However, we stayed 5 nights and the bedsheets were not changed, nor was the apartment cleaned during this period. Otherwise, all good.
