The hotel apartment in Kyoto has a convenient location with three nearby stations within walking distance. The apartments themselves are relatively small and appear a bit worn, with scuffed wallpaper and a kitchen door that didn’t close properly. Upon arrival, the room wasn't fully cleaned, with some dirt left behind. Additionally, the bathroom and toilet felt a bit outdated and more manual compared to other places we've stayed. However, there were many positives. The check-in process was smooth, and there was a convenient service center nearby for luggage delivery. The room had a lovely view of a small local temple with blooming sakura trees. It was warm and cozy, though it could get a bit stuffy, but we managed by opening the windows. Overall, it was a decent stay with a mix of good and less favorable aspects.

The hotel is situated on a main road, however, we didn't get any street noise from our apartment. It's around a 7 minute walk to the train station. There is also a bus right at the front door which takes you to some of Kyoto's top tourist attractions and the main station if arriving from another city by train. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They have some great facilities if staying for a few nights including washing machine (with liquid capsules provided) and the wet room converts to a drying room so you can dry your clothes quickly if needed. The staff were always friendly.

The room isn't huge so it may be tight if you're hoping to lay multiple large suitcases down. The cleaners don't come daily to make up your room, instead every few days.

The hotel is very conveniently located for exploring Kyoto and the surrounding area. There is a bus stop right outside the door that goes to the train station (bus number 50). Our room was large and had a kitchenette and washing machine. Detergent is provided free of charge, but the machine only washes in cold water and you definitely need a translation programme to understand the wash cycles. The bathroom has a great drying system built in, so you can be sure that your freshly washed laundry will dry. It was clean; as always in Japan, room service comes once during longer stays. It was very quiet and the air conditioning was easy to operate!

The overflow and drain in the bathroom sink would need to be thoroughly cleaned.

We had a decent stay at Stay Sakura. While the location is great and the room was spacious for such a central area, communication was sometimes challenging as the Japanese staff didn’t speak English. On our last night, we noticed how much noise travels through the building due to the wooden floors—movement upstairs was quite audible even though the other guests weren’t being particularly loud. I ended up going upstairs to kindly ask them to move more gently. Overall, it’s a good value for the price, especially considering the space and location.

Excellent location, with a City 50 bus stop for easy access to Kyoto Station at the front door, and other stations an easy walk away. We had a standard twin room which was surprisingly spacious and well equipped with a cook top, microwave fridge and washing machine. The bathroom/shower doubled as a drying room which was brilliant! Plenty of good eats and coffee shops about. Great neighbourhood. We felt quite at home here.

Only negative was the bed and pillows. Very lumpy and uncomfortable, which was a shame because everything else was great!

Great service to transfer your luggage from the guest service center to the hotel if you arrive before check in time and you want to do some sightseeing. Nice apartment with a little kitchen to prepare small meals which was great to have some independence with our 20 month old son. Very calm location with bus stop right at the entrance connecting to Kyoto station. Supermarket and restaurants in walking distance.

A little far from public transport but it was alright. The reception is not always occupied, but someone is always sitting in the room next to it. They could not always help with our requests or questions, the staff doesn't speak english very good

Everything. The hotel is really well located. I had a standard room, and it had en suite, 2 ¾ sized beds, a cooker, a microwave, a washing machine, and a large balcony. This was all for about £60 a night. Fabulous value. Spotlessly clean and quiet. When I arrived in Kyoto, I was meeting a friend, and dropping my bags off would have been a pain, but the hotel has a customer centre 5 minutes from the station. I called in, checked in, and dropped by bags off. They then took that bag to my hotel so it was in my room when I arrived. Fantastic service.

I wasn't bothered as I tend to get up early while travelling, but there was no option for breakfast.

LOVED the convenience of having our own washing machine in the room so we could wash our clothes easily and daily - which was necessary because it was so hot during our stay! There was no need to have a dryer in the room as the bathroom included a de-humidifier and hangers provided could be hung in the bathroom. Also loved having a mini kitchenette and a mini fridge that included a freezer too! We often had family mart or pre -made meals from the local grocery store at night after a full day out so that kitchenette was so great to have! Also loved the guest service centre. We left our luggage there which was promptly delivered to our hotel room and we were able to check in straight away and receive our key cards too. Such a smooth process and gave us such a great experience before we even entered the hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. And answered all our questions. Lastly, convenient location - bus stop right outside and 10 min walk to main street and family mart / grocery store.

Not that much space inside the room. As we had 3 of us in the room, the sofa bed was pulled out. Perhaps some instructions on how to tuck away the sofa bed would've helped as we didn't figure out until the last day and i think that would've helped with the limited space.

I loved staying in Sakura :)) our room had two big beds with comfortable pillows and duvets, maximum comfort for great sleep after intense days of visiting and discovering the city! Localisation was great: just in front of our hotel there was a bus stop from which we could arrive wherever we wanted; also a walk to Gion wasn't taking that long time from it :) after starting in Tokio in a rather small and compact room, staying in Sakura with huge beds and a couch and a coffee table in some sort of "living room" area and equipped kitchen was very pleasant. Also, when checking out we were allowed to leave our luggage for a few hours until our next train, so we could still visit the city with no heavy backpacks. I definitely recommend this hotel! :)
