The property was fantastic overall, with clean and comfortable rooms, a convenient location, and great amenities. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail and the relaxing atmosphere.

I was charged an unexpected extra fee upon arrival, which was not communicated during the booking process. Although the staff addressed my concerns and the charge wasn’t too high, it would have been better to know in advance to avoid any surprises. This lack of transparency was a bit disappointing.

5 mins walk from shijo station. Incredible polite staff. Housekeeping was excellent with daily refill of mineral water. The room was very comfortable and functional with lots of lighting.

Walls were rather thin. As a light sleeper I was woken up multiple times throughout the night from neighbours walking along the corridor, slamming things in their room and sometimes I could even hear alarms from other rooms. This was exacerbated by the extremely quiet room so any amount of noise was amplified. Not an issue if you are not a light sleeper or someone who is sensitive to noise at night.

The beds were comfy and the lighting was pretty good. Every day the staff replaced towels and emptied the garbage. We stayed 4 nights so were eligible for room cleaning on the 3rd day, but we both got the flu and didn't use the service!

We paid to have breakfast included. It was in the attached restaurant. There was a buffet that had a lot of options, but most of them were not things I liked to eat. I did like the salad and fruit. Also, our room looked out on the building next door which was pretty close. So we kept the shades down most of the time. I like to look out the window, so was disappointed not to be able to see anything, especially since I was sick and had to spend a full day and a half in the room!

The location was in a very peaceful place. A few hundred meters from local transportation and shops. The room was comfortable for one traveler. There was no cupboards or cabinets for clothes. There could be a space crunch for multiple travelers. The bathroom was very well done and very good facilities. The breakfast did not have many options. The staff was helpful and refunded my breakfast payment.

They cleaned the room once in two days. That is acceptable. But the cleaning did not look like a thorough job. It looked like they were cleaning in a hurry and the dust was in the room as is. I could also find hairs (which were not mine) lying around in the room.

Great location, close enough to the main shopping street and restaurants, but far away enough for quiet and rest. Rooms are clean and quiet, and even though room had no view, the shade gave privacy and natural light. Spacious enough to open both check in size luggage (though leaves no real space to walk), but enough to unpack for the trip.

Would have been awesome to have an onsen to rest tired feet at the end of the day!

The hotel rooms are very nicely designed with traditional Japanese design elements and tatami mats. The room is not the most spacious, but the bathroom and beds are comfortable. The best thing I'd say about the hotel besides the dieting is the staff and the location. The staff are friendly and helpful while the hotel is well located being right next to a number of metros, some charming neighborhoods, and just a 20 minute walk to Gion and some of the main sights in Higashiyama.

The hotel has some amenities including coin operated laundry, a coffee machine, and a restaurant on site, but otherwise there's not anything else from what I can remember. It's very helpful to have the washing machines, but we thought they could have been cleaned out better. This and the other lack of amenities is a very minor complaint because the point of going to Kyoto is to see the city, and this is a nice hotel for doing that.

It would have been nice to have a place to enjoy coffee and pastries in the morning. We saw that the Italian restaurant had not-so-great reviews so, we didn’t eat there.

This was the second time staying here so I knew what to expect. I love the design of the place. There is a great little dinner just around the corner so there was no need to use the "Italian" resturant. My wife is Italian so I'm a little unforgiving when it comes to Italian food. Being in Japan I prefer to eat Japanese. The only thing I thought was a bit wasteful, was the toiletry bags. Though it was very thought full, that every day there were 2 new bags with appropriate article inside, do I need a new tooth brush every day, comb, razor? I hope the unused bags are not gone to waste. The bath salts were a welcome aid after a long day walking in the out skirts and city of Kyoto. I let very well.

I stated in my previously that attention to the daily supply of the toiletry bags was a bit wasteful. Though I was the only guest in the room, I received 2 bags every day. Not a big deal.

Chose this hotel for its tatami rooms, and it did not disappoint! It is located in a very quiet neighbourhood close to the Shijō subway station, and there are loads of restaurants to choose from in its vicinity. The room was slightly on the larger size, very nicely decorated. We got fresh new towels, water, bin bags, and lovely tombo pouches filled with necessary personal hygiene products at the door every day. There's a laundry room with two washing machines equipped with their own detergent dispensers (so you don't have to get extra products) and two driers; you can choose to pay with coins or via an app - we chose the latter, and were pleasantly surprised to see that it had an integrated time counter so we didn't have to do mental gymnastics with our heavily jet-lagged brains to come back for our clothes. The reception staff received our suitcases and took them to our room for us - and they also redirected them to our next stay for us upon request. We only had to pay the transport fee. Overall, we loved our stay here.

Nothing to complain about. Would choose this hotel, or any other from the Resol chain, without batting an eye.
