Cute accomodations. Fairly good location, walkable to Kyoto station for most but not our elderly parents. Nice amenities. Excellent and responsive staff. Loved the combo washer dryer. The 2 beds were very comfortable. Quiet street.

Futons on tatami were much thinner than other traditional Japanese accomodations we've stayed out and basically felt like we were directly on the floor. Room in the front had bright exit light so not usable as bedroom so we moved furniture around to sleep in living area, but there was a TV and post that made it slightly difficult. Wish there was a mirror upstairs to make it usable to get ready in the morning instead of all of us crowing next to the shower downstairs.

The service provided was great, although the needs to check in and get the keys from the main station. But appreciates the complimentary ride given to the actual stay. The stay gives a nice Japanese house vibe, with complete modern amenities provided. I love the quiet neighborhood.

A little startled when realizing that I need to pay extra for city/tourism tax. But then realize it was stated as well. So no big deal.

Futon can be a bit too hard for those who are not used to it, but there are extra ones in the closet. Would be nice if there are more pillows.

Just go here. Book the machiya. Words cannot describe how amazing it is. We regret being unable to stay for 2 nights because of our itinerary. Next time we will arrange our schedule to stay longer. If I could rate this higher than 10 I would.

This house was really nice and had a great layout. The bath was nice and the little garden you could see from the dining area was cool. Good location if you don't mind walking a little to get back to the main area.

The pillows were a bit stiff and the futons were harder than others I've used.

Great traditional style accommodation. Around 10-15 min walk to Kyoto station. We found ourselves catching taxis to Potoncho and Gion district as trains there were not that accessible. As a westerner I would’ve like a couch to watch the TV rather than sitting on the floor.

A few doors were very low so everyone hit their head and the living room wasn‘t that comfortable but still very ok

The house was so cute for the family's and the kids said this was one of the best places to stay! The communication prior to arrival via email was awesome and the level of customer service from the team was fantastic... it was all too easy and felt like a dream. Many thanks for a great stay and for contacting us to return an item left behind at reception.

The location of the house was good, between the main train station and the center of Kyoto. It is a 20min walk to the main attractions of Kyoto. The house has a sufficient size. During the winter time heating via the air condition is provided and sufficient for most rooms. However, it was very cold in the bathroom. The key collection was at the Rinn hotel near the station, which makes for an extra stop before reaching the house. Some restaurants are close by.

Unfortunately, the check-in time is late (3pm) and the check-out time early (10am). If you want to use 3 bedrooms when travelling with friends/ colleagues you have to ask for an extra bedding and tatami mat to be prepared against a charge.

A beautifully appointed house with a mix of old and new. The tatami aroma and the zen garden made me feel instantly relaxed coming from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. A tranquil gem!

It'd be nice if there was a USB power point for the overseas travellers :) we asked the Rinn reception for a portable one but they didn't have one for hire at the time.
