The rooms were beautifully designed, spacious, clean, quiet and super comfortable. We liked having tea and coffee in the room. Both Japanese breakfast and the Continental breakfast were delicious, maticulously prepared and very tasty. The shampoo and bath gel were superb! The staff super friendly and cordial. We would stay there again.

We loved this little hotel and the great hospitality they are offering. It is a unique combination of Japanese traditions and modern lifestyle that gives you perfect comfort. Bed was super comfortable. Room was pretty big and specious. Bathroom had both bath and shower and was very modern and well designed. There were great cosmetics available as well as toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, and pretty much everything you might need during your stay. We had a room with a Japanese garden style patio which was amazing, so pretty and such a pleasure to admire. The room was very quite. Our room was cleaned and tidied daily. Staff was very nice and friendly. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely recommend this hotel to others!

This was home for me and my sister for just over a week and it was an amazing stay! The rooms are gorgeously designed and the beds were almost as comfortable as sleeping in my own bed at home. I loved the bathroom design and the water pressure from the shower is incredible! I loved the fact that our bathroom had a shower room with tub/shower combined into one because it made it feel like I had my own personal bathhouse. The staff are super attentive and friendly. We did not get to try the breakfast during our stay since we were always up and about super early in the morning since the days were really hot/humid, so we were always trying to pack in as much sightseeing/hiking as we could before the middle of the day where it was pretty brutal. The location perfect at is close to all the major sites in the Kyoto as well as the main train station. It is in a very nice and quiet residential neighborhood, and some of the rooms even have views/balconies towards Shōseien Garden although ours did not because we requested the largest room which is faced the street. We truly enjoyed our stay at Kikokutei Bekkan and I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Kyoto!

Kikokutei Bekkan is a Japanese dream hotel coming true. I think words and pictures do not do justice, reality of staying there is even better! The hotel feels so private and everything is full of good energy and tranquility. Perfectly clean and well maintained. The personnel makes you feel welcome all the way, very friendly and ready to assist in case of inquiries. My room (303) was just wonderful. Everything you might need is provided in the room. Great decoration with a nice combination of modern and traditional Japanese style. Amazing Japanese breakfast (there is as well option for western style breakfast if you prefer). Location is perfect! Just 10 min walk from Kyoto train station and around 25-30 min from the famous old Kyoto district. The Shoseien park is right next to the hotel while the Higashi Hongan-ji Temple is close by. In case I ever revisit Kyoto this is the hotel to stay! Thank you Kikokutei Bekkan for a truly amazing experience!!

Nothing, everything was perfect!!

This location is in a quiet neighborhood 10 mins from the train station and close to other public transit and local places to eat. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the hotel has a very calm peaceful feeling overall which was appreciated after touring the city. The water pressure in the shower is excellent and I loved our little private garden. The traditional decor and tatami mats were really nice. Modern comforts were available and it was nice to have the water heater, mini fridge and pajamas. The Toto-style toilet with the night light was wonderful. My son and I really liked the traditional breakfast in the mornings.

The beds are extra firm and the pillows left us a bit sore after the week. The western breakfast was not great as the eggs were served cold several days so I’d recommend the Japanese breakfast instead. I wish they had outdoor furniture so you could sit and enjoy the tiny garden, but we made do.

The Japanese breakfast was incredible and kept us full through lunch time. All the staff were extremely helpful and, in particular, Kawasaki and Yoshi as we had the most daily interaction with the both of them during our stay. The room furnishings, including bedding, were new and the room was kept immaculately clean. The location was great as it was close to restaurants and shopping areas.

Friendly staff, very good and spacious room with a lovely balcony. Very good tea was provided in the room.

The only thing that was surprising was that there was no hooks in the bathroom (apart a small one above the sink) for hanging anything: wet towels or washed socks. There is no place for hanging anything. And i also wished they had a laundry room. They offered to wash our laundry but I found it expensive.

This place was such a huge surprise for me. There is so much to love about it. The location, the views, the beautiful design, the very friendly and welcoming staff, the complimentary drinks in the lobby, oh and the white house slippers! Like a dream! I cried putting them on. The room was very spacious. Perfect temperature control. Everything and more I could need in the room. Just everything was so great, first time I ever gave a perfect 10/10. I would honestly stay here again in the future.

My one tiny TINY thing is I wish I had a full body mirror in the room itself. The only one I had was in the shower.

Quaint hotel close enough to Kyoto station for convenience but far enough from the hustle and bustle. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and the little garden out front was very zen to look at.

There seems to be a leak somewhere as there would be a pool of water at the sliding doors overnight, but we couldn't hear any water dripping, neither did it affect the stay in the room as the staff cleaned it everyday.

The boutique hotel was so beautiful and fit perfectly in the style of charming Kyoto. The rooms were very stylish and big, all facilities were of high quality. The staff was very friendly and the service was of the highest quality. The ladies working in the kitchen prepared the most delicious Japanese breakfast everyday and it was a pleasure. The ladies were so kind and made our stay even more special. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will surely visit again.
