We recently had the pleasure of staying at Lake Toya Tsuruga Resort HIKARINOUTA, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s warmth and friendliness made us feel genuinely welcomed. Every interaction was thoughtful and personalized, making our stay incredibly special. One of the highlights of the resort is the private open-air onsen, which offers a breathtaking view of Lake Toya. Relaxing in the soothing waters while taking in the serene beauty of the lake was an unforgettable experience. It felt like a perfect escape from the world. The dining experience was also exceptional. Both the French and Japanese kaiseki meals were Michelin-grade and a true delight to the senses. The premium French dinner was included in the daily hotel rate, which was a fantastic surprise, while the Japanese kaiseki dinner could be reserved at a nominal fee of about $15 per person—an incredible value for such a gourmet experience. What made the meals even more special was that most, if not all, of the ingredients—from seafood to vegetables to dairy—were locally sourced. This connection to the region’s fresh produce made us feel closer to nature, adding a unique depth to every bite. Overall, Lake Toya Tsuruga Resort HIKARINOUTA exceeded all of our expectations. The combination of luxurious amenities, stunning natural surroundings, and top-tier service made our stay truly remarkable. We can’t recommend this resort enough for anyone looking for a perfect getaway in Hokkaido.

The most luxurious place, among the 4 hotels we stayed in Hokkaido. Spacious room, friendly welcoming staff. Met a couple of staff from Myanmar who speak good English. A new hotel, opened just about 6 months ago. The inroom onsen was great. Convenient location to Lake Toya sights. The whole hotel is an art gallery. Very tastefully decorated. The Tannoy speakers in the lounge are something to listen to. The live harpist performance was very good.

the cost was too high compared to other similar hotels in Lake Toya. (I booked this place last minute because of an earlier booking was canceled because credit card problem). It was located too far to see the fireworks at night. Because it was so new, it was not listed in Google Maps, so we had a bit of trouble finding the place.

A beautiful retreat near Toya Onsen. The staff were amazingly kind and the food at both the French and Japanese restaurants had some exceptional courses. The place had an aura of calm and relaxation. Both the large (shared) onsen and private room onsen were clean and soothing.

Just be aware that it is quite a way from the built up Toya Onsen area (about 1 hour walk or 1500 yen cab) and there are few amenities nearby outside the hotel (including restaurants for lunch, which the hotel does not offer). The hotel doesn't put on shuttle buses either, except once a day to and from the (further away) Toya JR (at proscribed times). It was also very expensive. Very nice, yes, but I wouldn't have expected anything else for the amount paid.

The resort was amazing! Staff were very attentive and kind, I was really happy that they accommodated my request for the meals. Attentive to details & the service was top. The room was excellent, clean, spacious and has everything you need. View is amazing and outdoor onsen was very relaxing 😄.

A little far from the main area if you don’t have your own car, but the hotel can call a taxi for you 😄

Wonderful scenery, comfort, clam and feeling leisure, room size is quite big, so comfotable, hotspring also good, excellent meals, both Japanese and French type, 新山 n Lumiere are also provided a unforgottonable dining experience.

The blanket is too think to provide down duvet cover in the summer times, and the air conditioner is troublesome, no thermostatic system, sometimes cool sometimes hot.

We chose the room with open onsen. Staff are friendly and speak good english. You are allowed to wear the slipper prepared by the hotel to walk the entire hotel. Dinner is carefully curated and offered local seasonal delicacies.

Off from Lake Toya, we need to stay upper floor to access lake view if lake view is your concern.

Friendly staff, they fulfilled all our requests regarding the food and stay. The restaurant made a customized halal menu just for us. I would like to thank the chief.

Brand new luxury hotel in prime location with incredible views and fine dining

Overwhelming amount of food and it came very fast during dinner? I'm not sure this is a complaint it's just how it was and was not a problem

The room and facilities were very good. Meals were impressive. The surrounding grounds was a delight. The bonus was the presence of a harpist during the evening meals and at night.

The duvet was too thick for summer use

What a beautiful hotel!! Our bedroom had views to the lake, it was amazing. The dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the onsen was amazing. We were lucky, at the time we went my daughter and I had the whole onsen to ourselves.
