Hotel is right next to Lake Toya and close to the vendors providing boat rides. There is a convenience store within walking distance from the hotel. There is parking available right across the street. The onsens available are spacious and clean. There is breakfast and dinner buffet with a wide variety of food available.

Our room was not facing the lake, but this wasn't a problem as we could just go downstairs to view the fireworks.

We were surprised by the spaciousness of the room - we had a tatami room with a seating area overlooking the lake. It was just beautiful. Our daughters were so excited to sleep on futons for the first time. It is so relaxing to hang out in a yukata, sip green tea in the room, eat the amazing buffet food and then soak in the lovely onsen. The outdoor rotemburo baths are slightly nicer in one of the baths than in the other, but the men/women signs are rotated twice a day so everyone gets a chance to try both. We had great fun playing bingo at 8pm in the lobby. There were lots of Chinese guests who were very friendly. Overall, a great atmosphere in the hotel, and a lovely room.

The hotel is located along the lake, nice lake nice from our room and we can see the summer fireworks. We booked the lake view japanese style tatami room, and it meets our expectations. Do note that the hotel is not new, and it gives good nostalgic vibes if you would like to experience japanese culture in an affordable, realistic way. The hot spring bath was good, too. Hotel staff were very welcoming, and a few of them speak good fluent English as well.

Do note that there is no coin laundry in this hotel/town. This is typical of an osen town, so just ensure you pack enough clothes.

Parking lot is awsome. Breakfast/Dinner are nice but not amazing. Location is good. Bingo activity is great that kids are enjoy with it. Onsen is amazing that the view of lake toya and Mt. Youtei are covered.

Location is quite good but can't see the whole firework through the room window. (Against the room price). Not a modern hotel, nice lobby but not reflect the same decoration in their room.

This is one amazing ryokan. Although not the easiest to get to, the stay was definitely worth it. First of all, the room was nice and clean and facing the lake, so we had a great relaxing view while drinking some tea. The small town is also quite nice, as we had a nice walk along the lake and had a good lunch at a burger joint nearby. Best of all (the main attractions) were the baths and the buffet dinner and lunch - sooooo many options and you will definitely eat until you explode. Definitely a highlight of my trip!

Maybe 2 - 3 ryokans can team up together to offer complimentary bus service from the nearest train station.

I liked : The location, the staff, the dining, easy check in check out, the car park in front of the hotel. The room was pretty spacious and the bed comfortable. The room is equipped with a small fridge and a safe for your valuables.

The hotel is still ok but starts to age … no noise insulation made two of my nights short as guest were having loud conversation in the corridor. Water pipe were also very noisy. The bathroom is small and getting old …the sink was partially broken … but still usable.

The buffet dinner and breakfast was excellent. One of the servers Seiichi Takaya was very kind and tried to play with my little girl during dinner, much to her delight. He was also very kind to teach us (via signs) how to stop our Japanese sleeves from flopping into our food and passed us arm bands. He really cared for us. The room was also very big and spacious. It was my first onsen experience and it was enjoyable

The attached bathroom is a little dated but no worries if you’re using the onsen to bathe

We had a tatami room with an amazing view of the lake. Everything had a nostalgic 80s feel, but it was in perfect condition and very, very clean. We especially loved the outdoor onsen under the falling snow, overlooking the lake—it was an unforgettable and truly relaxing experience. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, offering a vast variety of local products that made each meal a highlight of the stay.

Toya Kohantei Hotel offers a wonderful stay in a Japanese-style room with stunning views of Lake Toya and Mount Yotei. The buffet-style breakfast and dinner were delightful, made even better by the beautiful lake and mountain scenery. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience!

I’m satisfied with the hotel. However, i really hope the local government can improve local transportation for better convenience.

Service is good. Big selection of food at the buffet although the same each day. The onsen in the rooftop is beautiful and great location for the fireworks.

The hotel is very dated and for the price, would have expected it to be more up to date but I think the more modern hotels may charge more. We played table tennis (extra fee!) in the basement and it's in a poor condition down there. Carpets need updating.
