We felt welcome from before we arrived, with the owner offering to pick us up from the bus stop and gave us information on skiing and local activities. The place was warm, clean and comfortable. We loved our week here! The outdoor bath in the snow was fantastic and the whole team always made sure we were comfortable. There is a direct shuttle bus to the Goryu gondola or it's a 10-15 min walk.

It was a little far from the konbini when walking, and only a few restaurants in walking distance, as most are in Hakuna town. Make reservations for restaurants on the weekend as many places are small and get full quickly.

The staff were lovely - super helpful, great breakfasts, able to help with ski passes. Our room was lovely and warm. Shared toilets were kept very clean and totally weren’t an issue. Onsen was split by gender and was great. We loved the outdoor wood fire hot tub. Very walkable to restaurants in the evening (can also walk to 7/11 and ATM but bit further), and also walkable from train station to property. There were good shuttles from the property up to the local field Goryu, from there it was possible to coordinate shuttles to other fields. We were able to have our skis sent in advance to the accommodation by Yamato Transport which was awesome. Make sure you spend some time watching the trees from the accommodation - we saw monkeys playing and leaping.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property - facility and staff were great. Our only challenge was the buses from Goryu - these were quite tricky to use and very slow due to the heavy snow (we travelled to Happo One but further fields took a very long time). Speaking to others this is mainly a weather issue, and often is much better than it was for us.

The staff were exceptional. The facilities are incredibly clean. They offer a very good breakfast menu. It has a traditional shower and bath area, a nice lounge, and an outdoor wood fired hottub that operates a few times a week. The beds are traditional mats that you make yourself. It's a quick walk to Goryu Ski Area which Pals offers a discounted pass option for. There's a really nice raman restaurant nearby and a bunch of other restaurants about a 10 min walk away. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay while in Hakuba.

Simple but beautiful and clean traditional rooms. The owners were really friendly and helpful and we loved the attention to detail, which made it feel very special. The Japanese breakfasts were a highlight too, with a huge variety of nutritious, delicious seasonal dishes - a great start to each day of skiing. The location was also ideal for getting to Goryu and Hakuba 47 within minutes by car, and peacefully tucked amongst the snow and trees. We had a relaxing time in the wood burning outdoor bath. Overall a magical experience, we’ll be back!

Must try the delicious breakfast! The householder's English is good, the room is nice and pleasant. Although there are many 'rules' when living here, such as showering before 22:00 or 22:30, not rolling luggage in the house, and turning off the heater before leaving the room, the householder is super helpful, making it a happy and pleasant stay for 10 days

We loved our stay! The location is incredible with a short walk or shuttle ride to the Hakuba Goryu ski resort. The owners are incredibly nice and accommodating. Taki even offered to pick up our luggage at the bus stop down the street from the inn, which saved us from trying to carry and drag our luggage through the snow. We appreciated Taki also calling the bus company to locate our son's iPad that he left on the bus. He went to the bus station to pick it up for us. Just wonderful hospitality. Their food was delicious and included traditional dishes. This was our first time sleeping in a single room on the floor, but overall it was comfortable and there is also a dining area as well as a lobby seating area to relax and eat in if you prefer not to eat in your room. The onsen was also very nice after a day in the snow. They also have a wood-heated hot tub that you can reserve. Overall, Taki and his family maintained a very clean building, even requesting us to carry our luggage instead of rolling the dirty wheels on the carpet to keep the floors clean. They also asked that we wear slippers throughout the building, and bathroom slippers were provided as well. The communal bathrooms were large and clean. We never had to wait to use them and they provided plenty of sinks as well. The outside grounds were great for kids with plenty of places for them to explore. There was a kids area with a swing and tree platforms with a little zipline. Overall, if you have the opportunity to stay at Pals Inn Raicho, definitely make a reservation.

Everything was great! Breakfast was amazing. Extremely accommodating to our 2 young children (4 yrs and 10 months). Hotel was clean, quiet and a mix of traditional and modern Japanese. Shuttle from the hotel to goryu was frequent and easy to catch. Check-in was clear and concise and everything was conveyed at the time. We would definitely stay here again, as would many of the other guests whom we talked to. There is a Washer and dryer available for around 200 yen. Overall amazing stay and was our favourite of Japan.

Amazingly friendly staff and the location was perfect for skiing, the room was spotlessly clean and was spacious. we walked 10mins to the slopes each morning and had an amazing time. We would definitely stay here again, the private outside onsen was wonderful, we reserved this for an hour one evening (free of charge) it was a highlight for us. There are also some nice restaurants within walking distance, we would recommend the beer and ramen place.

If I had to choose something I would say the walls are thin but everyone was respectfully quiet at night-time was not an issue but would maybe suggest earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Well-located hotel with a convenient shuttle service to the bottom of the Goryu Ski Resort and a nice Onsen. The owners were very friendly and helped out with a lot of the practicalities of ski rental, ski pass and getting around. The breakfast was great and though it is a quiet area of Hakuba, there are quite a few eateries around at walking distance.

Super lovely family owned Japanese Inn. The owners are very attentive and have great attention to detail for your stay. The breakfast was fantastic every morning. There is a traditional indoor onsen which is great after a day on the slopes. There is also an outdoor wood fire onsen if you request it.
