Amazing stay, no words, honestly! Great design, big and comfortable rooms, bikes for your use to go to the city. Even though a bit remote from the train station (just 5min by taxi, 1000 yen)/main sightseeing spots, I would definitely choose it again any time. Very sweet and helpful personell. No restaurant in the hotel, but possible to buy food food there (pizza, snacks), kitchen very well equipment and a bit pricey but very nice steak restaurant available nearby (7 min walk). Laundry available. We were a group of 4 and stayed in the very comfortable lobby hanging out until midnight. Just amazing. Thank you!

Beautiful design and new, comfortable bed, simple but homey lobby

We took the last train to Nikko and there were no cabs to be found in the train station. We called the hotel for a pick up service but the lady staff told us just to walk the 2km or so. It was so dark, we had so much luggage, and a 10-yr old girl was with us. It was mostly a semi-steep uphill climb in the dark road and we stopped half way thru. We went back towards the train station and got help from the nice policemen. Sad that the lady staff didn’t seem to care about our safety and convenience.

The friendly & efficient Team- always present yet unintrusive, the room was a good size and designed for comfort, aesthetics & efficiency, the bed & pillows were VERY comfortable, the shower-wow!, cleanliness, decor, shuttle bus service, communal dining table which allows for human connection for those who want it-we met lovely people, sitting area, the practical & efficient laundry facilities (and yes soap is included in the reasonable rates), the kitchen facilities. It's a great formula for people who are prepared to be fairly autonomous.

This is a three floor hotel about 20 minutes walk uphill from the town of Nikko and about a half hour walk from a group of amazing temples and shrines. (Nikko itself is not particularly nice or interesting, but it is a transportation hub for the national park and mountain sites/hikes, and the hotel runs a shuttle to the city in the morning, and to the hotel in the evening; the Nikko shrine is one of the most beautiful in Japan, and the walk from the hotel along a winding country road is beautiful.) The hotel rooms are very spacious for Japan, well-designed and -equipped. Beautiful view if you are on the third floor. Very nice lobby/common spaces, including a communal kitchen; there is no restaurant in the hotel, and nothing in the area, but the hotel has frozen pizzas and other foods from a very good local bakery that you can heat up in the kitchen. The people working in the hotel are extremely nice and helpful.

The hotel is pretty isolated. There are cabs in Nikko, but if you don't have a car and don't like to walk, the logistics could be a challenge.

Became obsessed with Fairfield by Mariott's other locations after this stay. The beds were one of the best during our 2.5 months around Japan, it was hard to beat. The kitchen was adequate with the free coffee machine and a great toaster. We enjoyed our simple yet luxurious stay here. There was a nice Chinese restaurant up the road and a food court like establishment down the road 'Green Terrace'.

Nothing that we didn't like but it might be nice to consider. As a hotel that doesn't have a restaurant, it would maybe nice to provide a discount voucher for a restaurant nearby. Some hikers also left their shoes in the corridor which is understandable with the possibility of dirt however it caused the corridor to have a bit of a smell.

The hotel facilities are amazing, everything is so clean and modern.

It's a bit far from the town and you need to get a taxi unless if you want to walk, which is at least 30 minutes up the hill.

Beautifully designed, modern and new hotel, lobby area was so comfortable with a good pantry.

Only 5 buses a day to take you to the station and city centre. Not near enough to walk, taxi is the only option if you don't drive.

The comfort and style of the hotel was exceptional. The room was generous in size, very comfortable and very quiet.

The hotel is approx 1.7km from the station and town (up hill). Whilst taxi's were readily available from the station more frequent shuttle buses from the hotel into town would have been appreciated (only three buses in the morning with very limited seats that needed to be booked the day before). There was also no restaurant onsite. A good range of snacks and drinks were available from a 'pantry' area near reception, a proper continental breakfast at least would have been appreciated.

Great hotel - easy to access via cheap taxi from the centre and the helpful staff were able to call us a taxi to take us to the sights. We didn't see anywhere else as nice in the town. Rooms were beautifully designed and comfortable. The central area was welcoming and had a great coffee machine. There is a good foodcourt 5 minutes walk from the hotel with a central dining area and lots of good food options and a bar - so dinner was easy.

We had ordered the breakfast bento box - don't bother unless you like Japanese food - fish for breakfast. There is a 7-11 in town that sells e.g. crossiants, yoghurt and fruit instead.

The staff are amazing! I had lost my wallet in the car and the staff were so helpful in helping me locate it. The rooms are spacious and they have good mood lighting. They also kept replenishing our water bottles, a small gesture that goes a long way especially when you're out the whole day.

The distance from tobu nikko station. I wouldn't walk it, the hill is too steep. The last public bus finishes early 4pm as well, so not many options. They however have a shuttle system which saved us! 3 shuttles every hour in the AM to the station, and 3 hourly shuttles back. Recommend being on top of planning and reserving ahead your shuttle spots. It's not a huge shuttle - its a large car really. A table tennis set would have been great! Lacking in activities to do once you get back to the hotel.
